Too tired, too lazy to cook dinner. In a mood for sushi today with my Mase mase… Service was good and fast. Sushi not bad at all… Had a good dinner time here.

Excellent sushi and service! The food comes out fast and the waiters/waitresses are super friendly. The miso soup is so good and for only $ 3 you can’t beat it! Highly recommend

Delicious ! Clean with nice décor ! AND, my favorite… they had great manners and service. Sushi was YUM. Prices were crazy reasonable. If you are passing through Oldsmar hit this place up. Kid friendly and a great place for a date! You can’t put a price on manners. Soooo much better than the inbreds at Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza. Come here, don’t go there!!!

I went here last night with my husband. The service was quick even though they were busy. We made it in time for happy hour which is a great value! I ordered the salmon sashimi, the first order was alright, but the second order was great! This place is worth a try.

After scouring Unilocal for some sushi options, we stumbled upon Hot Tuna. We went by for Happy Hour where some of their sushi rolls are $ 4. The Florida and the Gator roll were both delicious. I opted to get mine without cream cheese, just not a fan of it. The food came out quickly and was nicely filled, it was a nice balance of fish and rice. We ordered another roll of the specialty menu, can’t quite remember the name but it was wrapped in rice paper and had lettuce in it. This is definitely different from my average sushi roll, but it was a very pleasant surprise. I’d go back to get my sushi fix, besides you can’t beat $ 4 sushi.

The florida roll is really good. My friend got the ginger salad with homemade dressing and it was really. She also got the shrimp tempura and it was really good.

I was in town visiting, of course, being the low-key traveler that I am. My aunt and I were in the mood for Asian food, actually sushi, to be on the real. We dined in during happy hour on a Friday evening, which was not the greatest choice. The house was full; therefore, it was pretty loud. I was actually surprised to see that many people in the same place at once. The two of us were lucky enough to get a seat the minute we walked in, as it was a full house. Our server was great and very helpful with the menu as it was our first time there. She constantly checked up on us like a server should, regardless of how busy it was, for the night being. The food was great. We took advantage of happy hour that we had ordered so much; we had to take the rest to go. I want to come back. I will be back. On a side note, parking was a struggle but that was no surprise.

Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, sushi is mediocre. 4 stars for atmosphere/service, 2 stars for sushi. First visit I ordered take out and thought it tasted like grocery store sushi rolls. Eaten in on other visits and it’s slightly better but still not good. Rolls are small in terms of width and filling, yes, you get 8 pieces but they are super easy to pick up and eat in 1 bite. Of the 7 rolls I have tried(3 veggies, California, Mexican, Gator, Arizona) all tasted bland and very similar and in the ones with raw fish(Gator, Arizona) the fish texture was mushy and tasted fishy — blech — will not risk my health eating these again. The CA roll has very little roe on it. Many of the rolls come with spicy mayo topping and it does improve the flavor but I typically chose to eat sushi because it’s ‘healthy’ so smothering every bite with mayo to make it have some flavor defeats that purpose. The ginger dressing does not taste like the typical — it’s more like a creamy garlic dressing with a little ginger flavor and not at all worth $ 4 for a small bowl of iceburg lettuce. Rolls are cheap $ 4 during happy hour(5 – 7 mon-fri) but you get what you pay for(small, low quality) and I don’t think raw fish is something you want to go cheap on, just saying…

This is a great sushi spot. I’ve never been disappointed with any of the food and I recommend you try it out. The Kamikaze Eel is amazing, the crab cakes have a great kick, the Kani Chowder is fantastic, and if you love fried ice cream then you’ll never eat dessert anywhere else. I would’ve rated Hot Tuna 5 stars, but the lighting is pretty dim so it takes a while to readjust. Otherwise, the look is beautiful and it’s very clean.

I am a big sushi fan so I was glad to hear they opened a sushi place near where I work. I place the order over the phone and pick it up so I don’t have the dine in experience. They offer a great lunch special! It tend to get the 2 sushi roll combo with soup or salad for $ 9.95 so I can switch out different rolls each time. My go to is always spicy tuna, so I get that roll and something else. I have absolutely no complaints about the sushi. It is always absolutely delicious and fresh! My other favorites are Mexican, Philadelphia and recently the Florida roll! I know it sounds strange but cream cheese in a sushi roll is actually really good! The other thing is each time I get the spicy tuna roll something is a little different. Sometimes they add something like cucumber or just leave it as just the spicy tuna. Either way I am always satisfied! I like miso soup but I don’t really want to deal with it to go, maybe I will get it when it starts getting colder outside. I get the salad and it is always good. I think the dressing is homemade because its not always the same. Sometimes its really good, other times it is just ok. I did order tempura once and was not really impressed. My mom makes the best tempura so that is my comparison. This tempura had too thick of a batter and it was too greasy. When the batter is that thick it takes away from the actual food that is inside. I will just keep sticking to my sushi.

Above average sushi in a confused atmosphere with lackluster service. I can’t fathom why this upscale-appearing restaurant decided to dress the rich, red walls and smooth jazz with brown paper on the tables, but they did. There are other contradictions as well, such as the lackluster service that took far too long. The sushi, on the other hand, was the star of the show. The Tampa and California rolls were well executed, and a bargain at their happy hour pricing. This restaurant has amazing potential, if they can address the minor but irritating issues.

5 stars… yes, no lie! I have been here twice and both times have been amazing! I am a sushi snob and typically am uncomfortable Venturing out to new restaurants. Well, I am so glad I did!!! The scorpion roll is my favorite… The jalapeño provides a little something extra… wow, just wakes up your mouth. The tuna/all the sushi is extremely fresh! The restaurant is clean and the service is great! They have great happy hour specials on a variety of drinks and sushi items. We left stuffed… and with plenty of saki for what I considered to be a very reasonable bill! Honestly, I highly recommend you trying this restaurant! I know that I am so glad I did!!! Next time I will snap some more photos of food and happy hour specials!

This place is a nice getaway for sushi and happy hour. The service and atmosphere are good. And, the sushi is delicious. If you can make it for the happy hour specials; you will be pleased with the check too. I will definitely be back again.

What a great option for sushi in the oldsmar Westchase area. We arrived around 6pm on a Saturday to a surprisingly full dining room. They had decent beer prices and the rest of the menu was priced fairly. We shared the lettuce wraps appetizer and they were great! I loved the mushrooms in them. Be careful though-the mustard was HOT! We ordered 5 different rolls and the shining star was the pink lady. The flavors were awesome and the presentation was cute. 2 beers, an appetizer and 5 rolls was $ 72, with tip, so moderately priced. They do have a weekday HH that looked great too.

Visited Hot Tuna on a whim while my sister was in town and we were shopping in Oldsmar. I had never been there before or heard of it. We had no idea what to expect, but we were absolutely blown away! Atmosphere was casual during the day(we were wearing gym clothes) but if I were going at night I would wear jeans and heels. It was very clean and well decorated. We had: House Salad(ginger dressing): we were both scarfing it down and could not comment enough on the amazing ginger dressing! It was the best I’ve ever had. TNT Mussels: Delicious but HOTTT Spicy Tuna/Yellowtail/Shrimp Tempura rolls: all delicious and fress Birds Nests(quail eggs on a bed of roe): so tasty and inventive. Can’t wait to get these again! Yellowtail/Tuna Sashimi: fresh and delicious-3 pieces of each and generous sizes Unfortunately, we were both nursing hangovers and didn’t drink, but they had a great drink list and I would love to go back at night and try the wine and sake! The service was great and I will definitely be returning!

Few things that deserve the 3 star at Hot Tuna. First is the service. No matter how nice and prompt our waiters are, they are somehow influence by the miscommunication probably caused by the lack of training. I watched their serving that remind me ‘The Maze Runner.‘ Second is the table arrangement. It is not a big dinning room, and tables are so close to each other which leave less room for privacy. Their ambiance, however, is set for intimate dining experience, unfortunately, a cafeteria table setting has killed the romance. If there are some partition in between, it will be much modern and functional. Food is not bad at all, which leaves room for update reviews in the future. I am not sure I will ever like the idea of putting cream cheese in my roll, those without are well made and cleverly created. I wonder if there will be a chef special on weekly bases. It will be fun to going back and experience something new. For now, I am happy there is another good option for couples and for families dinning out at our little city of Oldsmar.

A friend had mentioned that the owner of my favorite sushi place had another sushi place in Oldsmar. I did a little bit of review reading on Unilocal and looked through some of the pictures. I was excited to see that the pictures of the plating, the staff, and the menu items looked familiar to me. Would the taste also be? I of course had to run there to see. When we arrived we were surprised to see that although it was during their happy hour(Mon. — Fri. 5−7pm) there was NO wait. Not only was there not a wait but there were only 3 – 4 tables occupied. It worried me just a little bit but I wasn’t going anywhere without trying that sushi! #determined We were greeted immediately and seated right after. The menu was the same as the other place. So was the feel and the setup. We ordered right away and I have to say that I was very pleased. We ordered the tuna avocado salad, tuna and salmon sashimi, a few scallop delight, a volcano roll, a mexican roll and of course fried ice cream. We loved it all. The location is my only issue here. The service, food and everything else was great. I hope to visit again soon :)

First date night as twin parents and I’m so glad we chose this place to unwind. ~~~~~ 5 Stars! ~~~~~ The ambience is nice. Upscale. Modern. Very hip and trendy. Nice surprise for Oldsmar. Sushi was great! Fresh! Could eat till they rolled me out of the place. Sake? Went down like water. Delish! Can’t wait to come back during HH!
