Alouette Beach Resort

I was very pleased with the service and our suite. Dog friendly which is most important to us. We stayed a few walks from the beach.
Possibly coming back next summer.

Our room was pretty great expect for the bathroom. We had the B level room and everything was good including a decent view. Breakfast at the restraunt is perfect in every way. Perfect place for staying in a couple of nights.

Okay this place is RIGHT on the beach. You cannot beat the location. This is our issue — we travel with our dogs. Those who do tend to get treated like 2^nd class citizens. We pay more for a really shoddy room. We were in the old section on the back side of the hotel where dogs are allowed. Can only be on the lower floor. Rooms are small and cramped. You can either sit at a rickety small round table or a low to the ground double bed. These rooms need a serious update. We love the location and the staff are nice but we can’t say in those rooms again. We came very close to leaving early. Please renovate for us dog lovers

Decent priced, Great location, The rooms were clean and the cleaning people were great ! The restaurant had a great breakfast without a long wait. I would defiantly recommend staying there.

Planned a last minute trip to the beach and this was the perfect location to stay with our 2 young children and small dog (pet friendly but they also have newer rooms available for guests without pets). The owners and front desk staff were so friendly, helpful and accommodating! They went above and beyond to make us comfortable and assure we were happy with our room etc.
They also have an excellent breakfast with very fast and friendly service (I highly recommend the pot fries! Pot roast and breakfast potatoes — delicious and unusual!)

We absolutely LOVE the Alouette! Last year we stayed at their sister location «beach walk» and this year had the pleasure of staying at the Alouette. Had great experiences this year and last, were really excited this is becoming our traditional stay!
Right on the beach, gorgeous views from the beautiful deck! They beds weren’t the best but everything else was exactly what we needed! The customer service is fantastic! Everyone is so friendly and we just really loved it! Very accommodating for 6 adults and 4 kids!

Stayed in the new suites. This was a great place to stay at the beach for our Vacation. Excellent staff. Fred, the owner was responsive and remembered me from our conversation on the phone when we made the reservation. We will be back again next year! The little restaurant was always busy and had good food.

IF YOU MAKE A RESERVATION YOU WILL PAY ONE WAY OR ANOTHER… there is a cancellation policy that states if you do not cancel within 24 hrs you will pay (no matter what)!
There is no customer service — The manager is «too busy» to call a customer back because he has taken a number of days off during the peak season and will have too much to do when he gets back according to an employee. The owner was finally able to call back.
There is a cancellation policy, but the employee cannot tell you where it is on their website — or how the customer would be made aware of it. It was supposed to be sent in a confirmation email (which we only received after making a request over the phone and via email). There is no mention of it over the phone when you make a reservation. The deposit will be kept… the amount that is kept varies depending on whom you speak with — $ 100 to $ 150. We were originally told $ 100, once I complained it went up to $ 150.
An employee, hung up on me after telling me he does not know where the cancellation policy is and that his manager is too busy to call me back. The owner explained that the employee was a «young kid» and that is why he handled the situation the way he did.
The owner is the one who raised the deposit to $ 150.
The owner then refused to email me back (despite my emails going directly to him) and would only email my husband.
We are continuing to fight to get our money back… I have filed a claim with the BBB and will be pursuing the motel in small claims court.

This is a great hotel for a number of reasons, though the rooms could use an update.
It is steps from the beach, cheap, and allows dogs. We stayed in the off season and spent about $ 80 a night for a room with a kitchenette, that was one door away from the beach. We brought our dog who loved running around by the ocean, and they waved the small pet fee as well.
The staff are super friendly, very helpful and relaxed. The second time we stayed they were booked for the smaller rooms, so gave us a two bedroom cottage with a living room and kitchen, for the same price as the small room.
The only thing is that if you have a mold allergy (as one of us does), you might have a problem staying here. Our first room did have watermarks on the ceiling, and in general the rooms are a little musty. They are clean, but a little run down. The windows do open though, so you can get fresh air. I’ve been to other hotels in Old Orchard beach though, and in general they are all kind of moldy, so this could be a better option since the larger units seem newer.
For the price, location, and staff it is definitely worth it.

My boyfriend and I had recently moved to Boston, and decided to take an overnight jaunt to Portland. Never having been there, and totally throwing any sense of planning out the window, we booked a room in a teeny seaside motel in Old Orchard Beach and popped into town.
I was so pleasantly surprised to find a motel, in the off season, that I basically randomly pulled out of the air, which was so lovely and fun. A really pretty little picturesque seaside motel, in a tourist town that caters to French Canadians (hence the Francophile influence), all in beachy pastels. Clean, friendly, and inexpensive– what more could we ask for?
Plus, the foggy oceanside walk at night was ultra romantic.
Unforgettable.

I’ve been coming here for about almost four years now. I actually just returned from OOB this morning, and this is where I stayed. The Alouette in my opinion is probably the best hotel in Old Orchard. I’m not saying it’s the god of all hotels, because it does have a fair balance of pros and cons which I will gladly even out for you.
PROS:
— Excellent and friendly staff who greet you with smiles
— Reasonable prices
— Quick maid service who give you an option if you want the room cleaned or not
— Room service/​food delivery
— Beach view with fireworks viewable every Thursday night
— Good sizeable rooms (mostly non smoking) with full bathrooms, refridgerator, and wonderful beach front views.
— Two full rooms with a kitchenette (must be asked for in advance)
— Cottages for rent if you do not want a room
— Pets are allowed in certain rooms granted you clean their mess
— Heated indoor pool with wash off shower
— Café for breakfast/​dinner
— Burgers and hotdogs are grilled every afternoon for lunch near the beach entrance
— Cable TV
— WiFi access (must ask the front desk for the router password)
— Located on the strip with access to tons of restaurants and shops just a walk away
CONS:
— The beds and pillows are terrible. Beds are way too firm and pillows give neck cramps
— The WiFi is really slow, and the signal is horrible in the rooms. You can only get full signal if you’re near the deck
— If you buy any ice cream, do NOT put it in the freezer of the fridge, because it will melt. Even if the temperature is set to the highest frost
— The café is only open for breakfast and dinner, no lunch
— The parking can suck depending on where you are. My section was wicked small and cramped, took forever to back out because the floor rooms are just a few inches away
— The showers are a bit too small
— It would be nice if the rooms had microwaves, not just the rooms with a kitchenette
To sum it all up the Alouette is a wonderful, quiet, and friendly hotel that also has a few downs to it, but if you’re looking for great quality then definitely stay here! Will be coming here next Summer!
