Horrible experience! Ruined my anniversary weekend I called over a month in advance to schedule a prenatal couple’s massage for my husband and I. When I get to the appointment, the receptionist asks me if it was a couples massage (so they obviously knew it was) and then told me it was not booked as such. I almost positive they gave my appointment away. Anyone who is pregnant knows how difficult it is to get a last minute prenatal massage nevermind a couples massage on top of it. I planned ahead of time for this reason. So now I will start my anniversary weekend in pain because this salon didnt care enough to honor an appointment made 2 months ago! On top of it, nothing was offered in exchange for the mistake. Worst business practice and horrible customer service. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

This place is calm and clean. The front desk is polite but a little unprofessional (phones out). Short hand– my masseuse was overall professional and friendly.
Upon arrival, we checked in early and asked for the complimentary day pass to work out but there was no physical pass, we simply had to tell the gym upstairs that the manager allowed us in. (I’m sure this opens up some liability issues if we got hurt, because we did not have to sign any waivers.)
The location itself is convenient after the gym or day of shopping, but the amenities are limited. (the complimentary sauna and steam room are also located upstairs in the gym locker room as well).
The locker area is small and open (it’s also no separate for men and women, but there are several bathrooms to change) I gave this place a 3 because the spa itself was too expensive and because there was mixup with our service. The front desk did not honor our groupon for 40 minute scrub, 20 minute Vichy shower and 50 min Swedish. They told me over the phone it would only be 20 minute scrub. At the place my boyfriend was directed to the standard showers after his scrub and no Vichy scrub.
Not sure if I’d recommend it to anyone else, it’s a little overpriced and the walls/​rooms are a bit thin. You can hear other clients music/​conversations.

I wish there was a negative 5 star option for reviews because this place deserves no more. Back when it was under Solace day spa ownership it was great, under new ownership the management is one of the rudest I have ever experienced. The owner Danielle has no tact, no customer service knowledge and does not give a care about customer retention. From messing up our scheduled appointments, spa mani/​pedi jet not working to cutting a 50 minute massage to 20 minutes we experienced it all. The day went from being excited to have a day at the spa and relaxation to aggravation. When complaining about the poor service we were asked by Danielle to not return to the spa in front of her employees– great job leading by example!
Danielle please stick to real– estate, clearly managing a spa and having professionalism in that environment is clearly not your thing.
Lastly, I would say if you are looking for a good service and feeling relaxed, please stay away from this place.

Took my sister here for a spa day, stylebar is very beautiful and clean. The mini pool was a nice treat also. I had a girl who was terrific, took care of all my knots. However my sisters massage was ended 10 minutes early for some odd reason and did not get hot towels like I did. When we are paying full price we expect full service. My sisters lady was also wearing gloves which wasn’t very unpleasant. She also spent most of her time fixing the sheets which was annoying. I believe her name was Ann, she said it was the worst massage she ever had. She didn’t give her a proper massage it was more like ribbing movements with little pressure. We might come back cuz my girl was great. But def a bad experience with Ann… Not even sure how long she’s been doing this but she seem unprofessional.

Person answering the phones is terribly rude and short! I called to schedule an appointment with Raphael for a haircut and she cut me off bluntly stating «Raphael no longer works here» I said «oohh okay…» and her response was «okay bye».
I guess she was too busy to suggest another stylist, I’ll take my money elsewhere!

I am in love with the hair stylist Lisa, she does amazing work and I would follow her wherever she went, even if she moved out of state, I would make a trip at least once a year to get her color and cut.

My review is strictly for the salon and more specifically for Raphael. He was recommended to me by a friend before he started working at Stylebar. I waited months to reach out to him and when I did, this is where he was working. The place is very relaxing and the staff are very friendly. I never had to wait for my appointment (keep in mind, I always book my appointment in advance and I try to be his first appointment). Ralphie is amazing, very attentive and professional at what he does. I’ve tried different styles with him and every single time he did an amazing job. I will not lie, it is very pricey but honestly it’s worth every penny. I rather pay more and know that I’ll come out feeling and looking fabulous. Keep up the good work Ralphie! I love ya!

I’ve been to this spa a few times via the spa week deals. Like many American women, I can’t afford frequent spa visits but I do love to indulge and treat myself every once in awhile. Well, with that said. That was my last visit to Solace. 1) receptionist staff is not that friendly like you would expect from a spa. 2) it’s co-​located with gym and hair salon, so it can be pretty noisy. 3) the specialists waste time prepping instead of working on you! I paid for 60 minutes of service not 40! 4) the massage lotion is cold! Lol. What happened to warm massage lotion? Furthermore the spa is cold! 5) during my facial I swear the aesthetician fell asleep, was texting, or reading a book, because she was not working on me. Also, this woman thought my moles were blackheads. Ouch! And hello scars. Look, if you don’t want ppl paying $ 50 for treatments don’t host spa week! Oh yes. 6) in the relaxation room, an employee is steadily cleaning and clanking dishes. Not relaxing. Overall, not a spa like or relaxing experience.

I visited this spa because I had a living social deal. I received a 1 hour massage and a 30 min facial. I was excited to try this because I have back issues. I have degenerative disk disease and arthritis in my lower spine, so I am often in pain. But anyway…
After changing into my robe, and placing my belongings into a locker, I was brought to the massage room first. I felt that my masseur spent too much time preparing the room and then explaining what she was going to do instead of the actual massage. I know I received a deal, but I wanted a full 60 min massage. The massage was ok, my boyfriend gives way better back massages and he isn’t a masseur! The masseur was light handed, even though she specially asked if I needed more pressure, and I replied with a STERN, «YES PLEASE». Before I knew it, the gentle massage was over, my back still in pain… couldn’t wait to go home so my boyfriend could really rub my back pain away. Next, I was brought to the relaxation room, which a staff member was clanking and washing something in the sink — just a lil annoying ya know. Also this is where the spa offers you your refreshments of tea or water and cookies that look like they were manhandled by 3 year olds – gross. That station was a lil yucky for me. If you are going to offer a little snack, individually wrapped items are best and more sanitary.
After a while, I was shown to the facial room. My aesthetician was a nice Polish woman. She was very thorough and I felt like she was actually paying attention to my face. She did a great job exfoliating and getting all my blemishes out. While my mask was on, the aesthetician would continue massaging my hands and shoulders.
Over all, I was glad I didn’t pay full price. The facial was way better than the massage. If I do go back, it will be for facials only and only with the Polish woman.

WORST facial ever!!! The Aesthetician I had must have been the one Maureen B. sisters had perform her treatment. She would apply mask treatment and sit down and was either reading a book or writing. Every facial I have ever had at other spas the Aesthetician would continue massaging my hands and shoulders. She also cut my treatment short. Relaxation room very nice but noisy, lobby right next door, hot water for tea was cold and spa water not very warm. Will never go back !!! Much better spas around the area.

My sister and I had facials during spa, week. My Aesthetician Janet was great. She was professional and gave me a full facial and did not skip any steps. My sisters aesthetician cut her session short by 15 minutes. She sat down while my sisters final mask was on and did not perform any hand massage. It was not consistent compared to my treatment with Janet. Otherwise this spa is very clean. During our relaxation time near the tranquility pool an attendant was doing dishes and clanging around silverware. It distracted from the environment.
I would return to, give a second chance.

I haven’t been to the spa, but the salon is great! It’s expensive BUT my hair always looks fantastic. I get so many compliments! I use Diamond and I cannot say enough good things. My hair has never looked better. Lucy does an awesome job too. I’m sad to see how many bad reviews there are… I’m very picky and wouldn’t trust my hair to anyone else.

The girl who manages the front desk is an idiot. Tried to get a gift certificate emailed to me and after 4 phone calls and 2 days later she still couldn’t manage to do it. Still waiting… When I ask to speak to a manager she comes up with excuses why they are not there.

So glad I’m not the only one that had a bad experience. Went there during spa week and really felt like they were doing me a favor. Nasty did not even describe the facialist. Her name was aldona. Nasty. I will never go back there. I work with customers every day and would never treat someone the way she did. Made me feel so uncomfortable. And the relaxation pool was freezing. Thought it was supposed to be heated. Go to lily pad. Ask for Jessica. You will not be disappointed

Rude people, and terrible services. I had a very bad experience with a facial and they still had the nerve to charge me. I will never go back. There are better places in the area if you want a relaxing spa treatment. This place is more of a busy salon, not relaxing at all. The ONE thing that was nice was the relaxation room. The 5 minutes I spent in there were, unfortunately, the only good thing about my visit.

Anita did my hair cut! she did a great job, and after 10% discount i only paid 54 $ which was a fantastic cut. Def. recommend, as i am very picky, I will be coming back for my second haircut ;)

I came to Solace with a couple of gals for a girls day out. At first I wasn’t sure if Solace was going to be what I was looking for by the not so warm greeting at the front desk, but that later changed. I received a facial, massage, and lunch. My facial was awesome minus the extractions (I didn’t ask for that). Now my massage… Lets just say I pretty much fell asleep. (that’s a good thing) AMAZING! Followed by that I relaxed in the «relaxation area» while waiting for our lunch. Wish something other than water would have been offered. The lunch was pretty good, but would have been better if we didn’t have to wait 15 on salad dressing that they left off. :-/​
Overall the experience was good enough for me to want to return. Oh yeah bring cash for tip. No cc welcomed and the ATM in the lobby charges a fee.

I received a $ 250 gift certificate (bought at the spa) as a Christmas gift in 2010. As the fine print on the back of the card said it was only good for a year, I scheduled a massage and facial in the late summer to avoid the card expiring. Both the massage & facial were fantastic! This was my first spa experience (I’ve experienced better since this incident). After the treatment, I went to pay the receptionist with the gift card and she would not honor it. She said the business was under new ownership and she will not honor the gift certificate (which was not even a year old). She was very rude and would not work with me. What a nasty way to treat new customers! I now I was out $ 250! She ruined my experience and I will NEVER go back! Don’t waste your money at a place like this! There are far better & honorable spas in the area. Avoid this place, which is just trying to rip people off!

I had a Spa Finder certificate to use and when I did a search I was surprised to find a spa less than 10 min away from my house. I knew the Shoppes at Old Bridge were fairly new, but I never knew there was a day spa here. The pictures on their website looked really nice and all I wanted was a massage so I called. It was a Tuesday and if possible I wanted to get an appointment for that same day.
The person I dealt with over the phone was very friendly and helped me schedule a Warm Stone Massage appointment for 6 PM that same day. Since it was my first time to their spa, they just asked that I arrive 10 min early to fill out the necessary paperwork and so that they could redeem my Spa Finder certificate. I did exactly that and was greeted by a friendly person at the desk (I believe the same person I dealt with on the phone). After I filled out the paperwork, I was introduced to my masseuse who handed me slippers and led me to a bathroom/​changing room. On the back of the door was a robe and a bag in which I was to put all my possessions. The masseuse then led me to a set of lockers in which I’d put the bag. I was then led into my private room where I was asked to get under the one layer of towels face down. The massage itself was okay. I always get a Swedish Massage, but every now and then I switch it up and get a Hot Stone Massage. Whenever I get the latter, I remember why I don’t get it all the time. The time it takes for the masseuse to heat up the stones really adds up and takes away from the massage itself. This isn’t just here, it’s everywhere and it’s understandable but my favorite is the Swedish overall. My relaxing massage was interrupted not once, twice, but three times by her phone going off. It rang very low (I think it was in her bag which was in a drawer or something) and if I was falling asleep or sleeping I wouldn’t have heard it but it was still enough to take notice. The massage itself at times just felt like she was just rubbing the stones over me, as opposed to massaging me with the stones. The 50 min passed by quickly. Once she was done, my masseuse gave me a glass of water and led me to the meditation room where they have a tiny pool and chairs. I chilled in here for about 5 min before I got my stuff out of my locker and changed.
The Spa itself was nice. It was just my experience that was mediocre, but I’d probably try this place again, just cause it’s so close to where I live. However, I wouldn’t pay regular price, I’d probably wait for a special or Spa Week. And I’ll request a diff masseuse and get the Swedish Massage.

I had been here previously, and loved it when it was Solace Spa and Salon run by Suzanne Savage. Now it’s totally changed and under completely new management. It’s sad, it’s a gorgeous space.
