History

Established in 1969.

Ed McCabe and Ed Sadewhite along with their families took a leap of faith and opened the first mattress store. It was just a old warehouse building with way too much space, for our little inventory. We started with just a few Mattress Sets and placed a curtain of bed sheets up, on a wire to hide the empty space. As we added more inventory, we move the «sheet wall» back giving us more rooom to display our inventory.

We were small and did’nt have much business back then, but we stayed with it and grew.

After growing too large for the Kansas Ave. location we moved to present location in the summer of 1973.

In our brand new builidng we started to slowly building a thriving Olathe mattress business. The City grew and so did we.

Ed McCabe along with Ed Sadewhite started Forty Wink Sleep Shoppe in 1969. The mattress store in Olathe has come along way. From memory foam to waterbeds to futons, the bedding business has changed. The Sleep Shoppe has changed along with it.
