AMC Studio 28 with Dine-in Theatres

Popcorn too salty! Movie started late. I don’t like this theater. Too many nasty chains around this place. Plan on eating somewhere else unless you like overpriced mediocre chains like Joe’s Crab Shack… yuk!

If I could give this theater no stars at all I would after tonight. I used to be a frequent customer of this theater until tonight when I went to see the Motley Crue: The End concert at this theater. It was a one night only event that I should have been able to enjoy with the other Crue fans but no this loud mouthed lady had to walk in and take a seat in the front row of the theater fifteen minutes before it started. She seemed rather drunk before it all started of course so I was really hoping she would quiet down when it started but obviously I was wrong. I did try to call the front desk of the theater to let them know about it but it went straight to voicemail and a recording. When I went to complain at the end of the show the first person I spoke with told me they spoke with the manager of the bar about not allowing her to purchase anymore alcohol but she obviously had someone else go get her alcohol as I witnessed that at the end of the show about ten minutes from the end of it. When that person pretty much didn’t seem to give a care one way or another whether about losing my business I asked to speak with her manager. Well guess what he acted the same way! He didn’t give a care about losing business. I have never heard someone in a theater as loud as that woman was tonight and I will never go to this amc theater again. I would rather wait until a movie is out on demand so I can buy it than to ever go here again. If it weren’t for the fact that I didn’t want to miss a minute of Motley Crue’s final concert ever then I would have went out and complained. And they were trying to tell me I was the only complaint about her. There is no way in the world that I was. They cared more about people being on their phones than they did about that loud mouthed woman (sorry but no lady would act like she did nor get as drunk as she was) who almost ruined the entire concert for us all and they should have honestly given us all free tickets and shown it to us all again without her there. I’m sure that after this I’m not the only one who will find a different theater to go to and it won’t be amc either.

This is my favorite AMC Studio theater in the johnson county area.
1) I love that they have the «Fork & Screen» option. The Fork and Screen is a family-​friendly movie theatre-​restaurant that features upgraded seats, an option-​packed menu, a full cocktail bar and seat-​side service at the push of a button. This is perfect for a date night, because you combine dinner and a movie all in one sitting.
2) The parking lot is accommodating, whereas AMC 20 falls short on that and you usually have park a mile away when you see an evening showing, especially on the weekend.
3) I know we’re not in Texas, but bigger is better: this theater is the biggest AMC theater in Johnson county. Why does that matter? More show times, more variety, less likely your show will be sold out, etc.
4) The concession stand is automated and you don’t have to wait in any lines anymore (the future is here, people!), which is a nice benefit to have, especially in a movie theater.
5) Although I’m not a huge fan, they do have 3D capabilities for movies and Imax theaters, which are neat to try out sparingly and dependent upon the movie.
6) You can order your tickets at the kiosk if the ticket lines are too long (TIP).

Staff is very immature and unprofessional. Stand around gossiping and acting like children. One guy was standing around hitting himself with a broom. Very unorganized in assigned seating of people. One of the worst theaters I’ve been to.

AMC not what it used to be. Place has no manager on duty and place completely run by ill trained 15 yr olds. Computer system down for over a week one girl advised. The food sucks and is overpriced. When is the dweeb CEO of this company going to get his act together? Seems like a very dangerous environment to me with no visible security and a manager MIA. Soooo disappointing. so fixable if AMC gave a damn. and what the heck happened to coffee drinks here??? gag me

My family and I went to go see Batman vs. Superman and let me tell you that was a good movie. The crew and the people up of the front window were sweet. They even gave us all free posters of batman and superman. I absolutely love coming to this theater!

Went to see My Big Fat Wedding 2! After seeing it I remembered how the first one was a sleeper and word of mouth made it a huge success. I think this is the same. The movie was funny and I pretty much laughed the whole time! A great feeling .
That aside the theater was clean, the staff was friendly and they serve wine! Another thing I really like about AMC is that they hire staff with special needs. Overall, a great movie experience!

We love this place but it can get pricey with two adults && two kids. My husband and I have been to their fork && spoon on several occasions, you at least spend around $ 80-​$ 100 for two people. Especially if you go to the bar first. I would recommend going to one of the nearby restaurants if you want a drink before the movie, since they’ll probably be much cheaper. Overall, a good && comfortable atmosphere. You get what you pay for.

We come here once or twice a month for movies. A little bit more upgrades to fork and screen with full service waitstaff. Food is ok, drinks are cold, staff is always friendly.

Theatre itself: 4 stars. It’s a movie theatre, and I like that they have the Coke machines with many different varieties. You can also add your own butter to the popcorn.
*One thing I’ve seen online but have never tried myself: they have special showings for children with special needs. They leave the lights partially dimmed and children are encouraged to move around and be noisy. I think this is an AWESOME feature, especially for little ones who may struggle to stay seated for 90 minutes.*
Fork and Screen: 2 stars. We tried this experience for our anniversary in September and I was not a fan. The food was all very meh. I did not like eating in the dark, or trying to talk to the waiter during the movie. If you want popcorn you can only order the giant bucket size. Refills are infrequent. Don’t bother with the alcoholic drinks — I tried some sort of blue lemonade which tasted like rubbing alcohol. The upside is the chairs are very large and comfortable. Overall, not worth it.

Great food, really poor service. «Zach» had a great 15 minute conversation with two patrons (to the exclusion of all other patrons). When we were finally able to get his attention, he said he would go get another server. Thanks a lot, you twit. Not coming back.

I absolutely love this place! I go to the movies at least a couple times a month. I give it 4 stars because they have very few low calorie treats. I for one appreciate the calorie count due to a sometimes restricted diet, but even the kids menu options can range over 1,000 calories plus for a simple meal. I don’t mind paying extra for healthier substitutions that are hot and low calorie. I do love their bar, and their staff is pretty good. I will be back !

Back again for another movie. This time in the dining portion. Larger room. Very comfortable seating. The food smelled good but I did not purchase any. I like the sound of the sushi rolls which are on the starters/​shares menu. $ 8 a roll, fair pricing of the sushi is decent. Large menu to choose from including salad, burgers, sandwiches, etc… Sides you can choose from too. Fountain beverages, beer and mixed drinks available. The staff seemed courteous. The sound system was good, not overly loud. Would definitely return and I recommend you try it too!

Nice big movie theatre. They also serve food and beer that you can take into the theatre which is nice. Although, the beer is pretty pricey. All movie theaters though are pricey when it comes to their food, snacks, drinks, etc.
When you get a large popcorn you do get free refills:)
AMC’s «butter» is coconut oil and other flavorings so it has no real butter, which means, vegan friendly! Hooray!

This is about the best theatre in the Kansas City area. They’ve got a full bar and cinema suites. Being able to seriously relax in an over-​sized leather Laz-​e-​boy whilst enjoying a quality adult beverage surrounded by other courteous adults (and no crying babies/​annoying kids) is the most perfect invention ever. Getting tickets can be difficult as it’s a rightfully popular venue, but if you really want to enjoy a movie without some of the normal aggravation, this is your oasis.

I love this place! Reclining seats order dinner and watch a great movie. Perfect place for date night. They even have a bar.

Great theaters but overpriced. Saw STAR WARS at the Union Station IMAX for $ 10. I could have paid $ 17 for the privilege of seeing it at the AMC 28, but why. I prefer Cinemark on Johnson Drive, AMC in Olathe is WAY OVERPRICED !!!

Always a great movie theater to watch a good flick at. Most of the time I order my tickets online and use my phone to check in. Pricing for food and movie are comparable to other theaters in the area. I like to come here to go to the fork and screen theaters. The food at fork and screen is good but not great so don’t be too disappointed. Remember you’re at a theater and it’s an experience not gourmet meal. Love that they have a bar as well to enjoy those adult beverages!

Pros: Stadium seating so your view is not obstructed. Serve-​yourself snacks is efficient.
Cons: Very dirty; theatre smelled liked vomit and the floor was disgusting.

Best movie theater in KC. I personally love the cinema suites but all theaters are equally as nice and fun!

Prices — ²⁄₅: WAY TOO EXPENSIVE for food/​drink in both the normal concessions and the fork & screen. The smallest popcorn size is over $ 6. Fork & screen was $ 16 for a chicken strip basket.
Screens/​seating/​movie viewing — 4.5÷5 nice theatres, they appear to take care of the seats and the equipment, nice sound and viewing experience
Service — ²⁄₅: ticket taker actually laughed at my Dad when he tried to present the code he printed off for our tickets before directing him to service desk. Some servers in fork & screen were good, but two others kept mixing up drinks, forgetting orders, losing tickets.
Food (fork & screen): 3.5÷5: parents seemed to enjoy their selections, but had a few issues with being over sweet. The burger I ordered had WAY too much sauce all over it, but came with a huge number of great tater tots. Definitely get the tater tots.

We attended Bridge of Spies here last night (my wife and I) and really enjoyed our first experience with the Cinema Suites setup.
The Pros
1. Easy tickets. We purchased online then simply walked up to the kiosk to print. I guess we could have just showed them our phones as well. Didn’t have to wait in any line at all, which was great because we were coming from a hour away and were a tad bit late.
2. Awesome seats. The reclining chairs were soft, spacious and comfortable. I liked the swivel table setup, and only wish the tables themselves would elevate in height.
3. Menu was diverse. I felt the menu was sufficiently diverse. I have read a lot of complaints about the new menu. Not having experienced the old one, I honestly thought that the company has done a good job at trying to find something for everyone.
4. Portion size. This was another puzzling things in reviews that I read. People were complaining that the portions were small. The plate of fish and chips I received was huge, and I’m a big guy!
5. Being able to order anytime during the movie. Again, there have been some reviews saying you couldn’t order during the movie. This is simply not the case. We finished our main meals and wanted to try the milk shakes, so we simply hit a button and an attendant came right out to us. It was great!
6. Clean theater! The theater was cleaner than a general cinema in my opinion. I really enjoyed this.
The Cons
1. Front row is tough. In any theater, seating in the front row is going to be undesirable. Due to our late purchase of tickets, we had to sit in seats 1 and 2. Now, with the recliners, this was not as bad as it could have been, but I won’t purchase those seats in the future if I can help it. I understand that each suite theater has only 32 seats, so a front row is going to be necessary due to size. I would stay away from that if you can.
2. Kitchen was a bit slow, and forgot an item. Every kitchen in the world can have an off night. Our main courses took a good while to get to us, which is not terrible since we were entertained, but my wife leaned over and asked if I thought they had forgotten the food. Also, we had ordered an appetizer which never came. Not a huge deal in the least.
3. Felt a bit rushed to order. Our waitress came to us pretty quickly after sitting down, and was asking for our order. We had not had time to really look at the menu at that point. I do need to add the caveat that we walked in right as the previews started, so this may have been our fault.
The Misc.
1. This is a pricey outing. Be prepared to pay a premium. For tickets, a stubs membership and a meal consisting of two mixed drinks and a main course it was $ 100. I don’t regret paying this since going out to eat before the movie would have been $ 40 or $ 50 alone. The Stubs membership was $ 9 as well so I could have saved a bit. Just be aware of what you are doing. There are no prices on the menus, which can be tough if you are planning on sticking to a budget.
2. To the reviewer from a few months ago complaining about assigned seating; I think you have a misunderstanding on how this works. One of the «features» of this experience is that you do not have to struggle to find seating. You get to pick your seats, which allows you to relax and walk in and know where you are supposed to be at. People buy ahead of time and make plans accordingly. From your review, you walked up. Not AMC’s fault in the least because you don’t understand how this works.
3. The bathrooms in this section of the building are small, so be prepared to wait a bit after the movie if you want to use them right outside of the theater. You can of course walk down to a different bathroom in the main part of the cinema.
Overall, this was a great experience!

This is a nice theater with the BEST jalapeños in town! What, you haven’t tried jalapeños with your popcorn??? GET OUT OF TOWN! Their is so crunchy and spicy YUM get popcorn, jalapeños, and nachos and you’ll be set. You can also get a beer or wine or any kinda alcoholic drink your heart desires. They’re food is also good. I’ve had a lot of things on their menu and haven’t been disappointed yet.

It’s been a long time since I went to an AMC theater. I went for an 11am show. I purchased my ticket at a kiosk in the lobby and went in and chose my seat in the back row and prepared to enjoy my movie.
Right before the movie starts somebody comes up to me and tells me I am in their seat. In a mid morning show with four other people in the theater and this is a problem? He tells me it’s «assigned seating.»
Well, I take responsibility for that. I didn’t pay attention to that and apologized, explained it was my first time here (which it was at this location) and moved two seats down. No big deal.
But I got to thinking: Assigned seating for a matinée? I guess I can see the benefit on opening weekend. Buy your tickets early, get the seats you want, you don’t have to stand in line for hours on end to get a good seat. Rock on! Great benefit! After opening weekend? It’s an annoyance.
I guess they are trying too hard to get people in the door now home theaters are more advanced. This experience made me just want to stay home, or go over a few miles away to a competing theater on 135^th and Antioch where the seats are come as you grab them. The way it should be, especially on a matinée.
Because here’s my thing: when it comes to where I want to sit, I don’t always know until I am standing in the theater. I want to get away from the popcorn eating mom with the crying baby and the bored brats who can’t sit still. I want to get away from the talkers. I want to get away from the moron with the cellphone. And I want somewhere in the middle, if possible, to get the best view of the screen. I may not have wanted the back row if I was picking tickets if restless children were back there.
It’s too much hassle. AMC, you’re trying too hard. Knock it off. The reclining seats are awesome, but matinees do NOT need to be assigned seating. Some entitled guy who just had to have that one seat was in his right… yes, he was entitled… so I moved… but really, AMC? Really???

The largest theater in town with the most options. My favorite are the Fork and Screen and Dine-​In Theaters. It is always a treat to have a nice meal and enjoy a movie.
In our recent visit, we went to the Dine-​In Theater, which is different from the Fork and Screen in that the Dine-​In Theater has the awesome reclining leather seats and the full meal service. Fork and Screen is typically a seat at a table with the meal service. The servers are quick and efficient and of course, the seats are luxurious.
We did have a couple of small issues. First, when we got our burgers, the bottom bread was already soaked. The burger was medium, which wasn’t bad, but we prefer our burgers a little more done. The burger doneness was not asked by the server. Our food was still good, so I’m not knocking down my rating too much for that.
The food is a bit on the pricey though. $ 35 for 2 burgers and 2 sodas. A lot of that is the typical $ 4 movie theater soda. Still, it was a fun time and when I want dinner and a movie, AMC Studio 30 is high on the list.

Ok lets keep in mind that I just moved here and I have never ever ever ever seen anything like this place. Sooo excited I was. So worth every penny.
I went into the FORK and SCREEN part of the theater. After taking a good look around the place. Every section in this place is decorated accordingly. The section that plays animé or Disney movie have video games in the hallways. Pictures along the walls are colorful and pop outs. The middle is the food. Ice cream, coffee, typical movie stuff plus more. I thought the popcorn seasonings were cute and a tasty idea. Items like parm cheese and cinnamon.
Moving along to the adult side fork and screen. They have a bar at the end of the hall to get here. the décor in the hallway are more darker in color and settling verses in your face. The bar is nicely set up and surrounding it are areas to sit, very close in comparison to a lounge. Classy and modern. Staff also come to you to see if you would like to order.
Finally in the movie room. I came to see FOCUS with Will Smith. Very good movie by the way, I suggest everyone see it. They have bar looking table in front of every row with about 4 seats before they separate creating great space. I would say there is more then enough leg room, so much I had to sit on the egde of my seat to eat. I had a Long Island and jalapeño poppers. Taste like any bar food. I’ll try the entrees the next time I come here. Free refills on soda. The staff are so quiet moving about during the movie. I didn’t even see or hear him put the check down. Just awesome place. I’m coming back.
