At first I was going to rate this refuge as a one star. GPS sent me down to one of the refuge areas and I found myself on a bad one lane pot-​holed road that was flooded in many spots. I arrived to a parking area with the refuge sign full of bullet holes and bullet casing litering the parking lot. Fortunately, I later saw a sign on the highway about the refuge headquarters and boardwalk. The refuge was staffed by a friendly lady with a foster puppy. There is a nice big parking lot here. Inside the headquarters, there was information on the refuge and a clean bathroom. Oh and a taxidermied bobcat and river otter. Out back there is a wooden boardwalk and dirt hiking trails.
