It would be nice if you could order food from the bar instead of standing around for 10 mins waiting for someone to help take a order. This is the second time I have tried to order to-go and I get neglected service. Done with this place.

The brunch here is amazing! I go out for brunch almost every weekend and this some of the best in the city.

Well dang! What’s the deal with the French fries; unless the objective is to fry them until they essentially shatter when you eat them. Did I just get a bad batch, and why does your kitchen staff send it out if so? The burger I had was hardly formed, so it fell apart terribly –__– I like a sloppy burger but this was just unmanageable for crying out loud. The waitress was very nice and the televisions were nicely placed and y’all had the thunder game on so yay there! The interior is really cool and there’s a lot of space.

The renovation looks very nice. However, the removal of the stage and addition of more tables means it’s very loud in here. I’m not that old, but my ears were ringing after dinner one night. Food is fancier than the previous iteration, and some new menu items are very good. However, some pub food staples still need work. Sometimes you just want a really good burger, you know? Located walking distance from Crown Heights, this used to be a weekly family distinction. New ownership doesn’t seem interested in this business. No kids meals(unless this has changed in a couple months) and recommendations like«buy them the($ 10) bag of truffle fries» are not helpful. $ 14 for 3 chicken fingers is not an option I’m interested in, either.

The renovation looks nice! Our waiter was new. He tried really hard! Pretty sure my fish tacos sat under the heat lamp for a while. OK, so it wasn’t the best but, I will maybe give VZD’s another try. I know they can do better!

They have done some great things with the interior. This place needed to stop being a music venue a longtime ago. Unfortunately We just had drinks and a bag of truffle fries to judge the quality but we will be back to do a full rundown! Good look VZDs. Side note: going through the reviews I saw several 1 – 2 star reviews by people who either only ever write bad reviews or the review on VZDs was their second review ever. How do these Unilocal make it through The filter?

Truffle fries. All day. Truffle shuffle. Go!!! Even better after it’s clean up. VZD’s is the best neighborhood hangout!

Tried brunch here on January 2, 2016. Service was poor, had to ask for a knife and fork and was told, «oh, you need that?». Never got a spoon for the coffee so I used a straw. Food was okay, not a lot of choice for brunch, too pricey. Rap music playing quite loud, overall a regrettable choice, won’t be going back. I gave 2 stars because the food was good.

My new favorite. Again. I love what you’ve done with the place! I’ve had the cheeseburger w/avocado twice so since the re-open and it’s just as good, if not better, than it used to be. The spicy«special» sauce is also back and I’m so thankful because it’s amazing! The place is clean and updated, but still held on to the history and the vibe that makes it an OKC original. I went with a group and with my family of 4 and both times, we received great service. I love all the new menu options, but I love that you held on to the tried and true which makes VZD’s a Western Ave must!

I planed to take the girls to the Powerhouse for our monthly lunch date, Discovered it doesn’t do lunch so on to Plan B. Decided on VZD’s due to its central location. Neither Robin nor Heather had ever been there,. I had been there several years ago just to see a favored band, so and only danced and drank, This was way before it had shut down, so we count this as a newbie. First impression ‘samo samo” Visually it hadn’t changed a lick and that’s good because there was an aura of friendly familiarity, kinda like«Cheers». We had our lunch in the balcony because we had a lot of family chit chat to catch up on. The wait staff were friendly and efficient. We had the Hummus platter for community nibbling while we eyeball the menu. It was a real taste treat. I’ve let a few weeks slide by before I got around to writing this review, so best I recall we had Beef Strogonoff, one other dish, some salads and a few IPAs It was all well prepared and tasty. The cleaned dishes give true testimony. We voted Unanimously that should any of my future lunch selections fall thru, VZDs will be Plan B

So reading about this place there’s all kinds of pearl clutching about whether or not the new ownership was right for this restaurant and how it was a travesty that there’s no stage anymore. Ignoring the fact that apparently trying to maintain what people demanded for nostalgia just ended up with the place shutting down I can tell you what it is now seems really good. My girlfriend and I ate here for brunch which is no small feat with a carnivore and a vegan. Not many places accommodate that well but VZD’s did fine. Concept burgers can at times just be overstuffed messes but the one here was delightful. A nice charbroil taste to the meat with a well toasted but not dry bun and I had one of the better burgers in OKC. Home cooked fries dipped in a spicy aioli on the side finished it off classically. The coffee tasted good and was always topped off. The vegan biscuits were good, the only suggestion was a little more protein on top. I liked em even. I did balk at the ten dollar bloody mary, lowering that price point would have definitely had me buying in. All in all, I really liked it and will be back for sure. They seem to be doing good food and have friendly service. Maybe Oklahoman’s will quit griping and start eating. Support local!

Not as friendly as they used to be. WATCHOUT for the UPCHARGE on chicken. Says $ 2 on menu but they will charge you $ 6. Most food and drinks are OVERPRICED. Especially for the portion. They try to hide the actual portion with huge plates but don’t be fooled. This place has become an uptight snob fest. The head chef Eric is the worse in that regard. They don’t follow their listed hours, either, and will shut down and kick people out early if it’s not busy enough to their liking. NOT a KIDFRIENDLYPLACE! ! No kids meals. They will not work with you on smaller portions/prices for kids either and will charge adult prices on drinks, too. I highly recommend going elsewhere. This place isn’t worth it.

I had never been to VZD’s before all the closing-and-reopening drama, so I can’t compare it to the«old» VZD’s, but came for brunch this weekend and really liked it! We started out with some queso and hummus appetizers. The hummus was really delicious and flavorful. It’s called«smoky» hummus and it definitely has a good, smoky flavor. The queso was just alright. It didn’t taste bad, but kind of had a strange gritty texture to it. I probably wouldn’t order it again, but the hummus was awesome! I had the PBB French toast, which had whipped peanut butter and bruleed bananas on it. I have a big sweet tooth, but I honestly don’t order sweet breakfasts very often — this was an exception and well worth it! I loved it and would order it again and again. A friend I went with is vegetarian, and the brunch and regular menus have plenty of vegetarian options, which is rare for Oklahoma. Loved the brunch here and I’ll probably be back to try lunch or dinner!

PRICES went up; quality went down. WHATHAPPENED? It was really sad for my mouth(and my wallet) to experience this version of VZD’s. If they need a new chef, which I recommend, I know some people.

Boy, was I excited about VZD’s reopening and ready to enjoy some delicious food and great drinks! Unfortunately, I was greatly disappointed. Service was lacking and rushed, food was mediocre and cold, drinks were overpriced, and there was a weird smell in the air. I left hungry. Womp womp.

First of all, let me say I totally understand those who miss the«old» VZ’s. My hubs and I have been part of the Saturday lunch neighborhood scene for many years. It is different now. That said, we have eaten at the«new» VZD’s three times now, and the food is much improved. The menu is fun and a bit more upscale, it is executed and presented well. I don’t agree with those reviewers who say that VZD’s has lost its charm — the space looks great. It is cleaner, brighter, and very attractive. Several of the former staff are still there, and I can get used to some of the changes that didn’t seem right at first: primarily 1) brunch on Saturday(seems excessive, Sunday would be enough) and 2) hostess seating(half of the patrons ignore the station and just seat themselves, causing some confusion). On balance, I am thrilled with the new, improved VZD’s and will be going back frequently.

I don’t know where some of these people went but it sure wasn’t the same place I did. I have been a regular patron for going on 20 years and must say the«Grand history» is no longer there as alluded to by some. Lisa M. has hit the nail on the head. I miss the old neighborhood bar feel and the staff. The current staff is a bit high minded in my opinion and to have some one sit me at a table. Nah. Old customer who is now an ex.

Had lunch for the first time at the new VZD’s today & was thoroughly impressed. Character and charm of the old restaurant was preserved while giving the place a clean upgrade which was needed. Food was spectacular as was the service. I highly recommend and look forward to watching some football at the bar this Fall.

The grand history of VZD’s has been lovingly honored by Chef Eric and his team. The classic tradition of VZD’s has been preserved while adapting the concept to meet the modern expectations of a restaurant/bar. VZD’s is a great spot for food and drink for folks looking for easy quality. Grab a table, order some Brown Bag Truffle Fries and watch a game, or have a lazy brunch on the weekend with vegan options. PROS: The bar food game has been upped by Chef Eric. We can’t divulge the secret ingredient in the batter for the Homemade Corn Dog, but we can divulge that’s it’s delicious! The peach jalepeño jelly proves the new game. Also: eat the hot roast beef sandwich with braised balsamic onions and blue cheese! Woo! CONS: Old timers hating on the spot even though the old owners were in arrears and any new owner could have done just about anything else. PROTIP: Great daytime spot with a beautiful view of Western Ave and great natural light. PROPROTIP: Try the Lazy Magnolia Southern Pecan for a sweet twist on a classic brown ale.

If this bar was on Tinder, I would swipe right. The staff was incredible, my drink was fantastic, and the music was great! Myself, and the people I was with, all had a great time and will most definitely be back!
