I’m not a runner but, the wife is. Staff is amazing and the selection is good. I would suggest this store to the newbie or the veteran runner.

Went in to get a specific pair of Brooks running shoes, I knew what shoe I wanted & what color. Kathy showed me exactly what I wanted & got me out of there in about 10 mins! I love their reward program also! Will continue to buy from Red Coyote & suggest buying from Kathy Barkocy!

This is my go-​to running store. I consider myself a runner in making — I’ve done a couple of 5k’s and I’m hoping to run a half marathon in the next year. I had been experiencing shin splints and needed the right shoe to train in. Enter red coyote. They had me run on a treadmill, told me exactly what we were looking for, and we analyzed my running together.
They initially brought out 3 pairs of shoes for me to try, 2 of which I didn’t like/didn’t fit well, so they’d bring me more making sure I could pick from options that worked well for me. I never felt pressured to purchase anything, and everyone there are all very informative and friendly. They suggested things to do for my shin splints as well as methods of strengthening my calves. Overall it was a great experience. They also have a 30 day return policy on their running shoes. If they don’t work out, just bring them back within 30 days and they’ll exchange them and get you into the right shoe.
RC also hosts their Pack Pint Runs every Thursday on Classen Curve into a trail at a park in Nichols Hills. On some runs they even feature a brand of shoe or accessory that you can use on the run to try them out. I enjoy running alone but it’s great meeting others through these events. All their pint runs typically have a drawing for a $ 25 RC gift card and sometimes even a free pair of shoes. They also partner up with Coop for free beer after the run! Once a month they also host a natural running form clinic to help you with form so you can run injury-​free.
They also provide a Newbie training program that’s similar to a Couch to 5K program. They’ve got coaches and group runs and it’s very pressure-​free, and they all just want you to do your best and help you achieve a goal if you’re wanting to start running but not sure where to start. At the end of the program they have a 5K Runtoberfest run that’s like your «graduation» from the program.

BEST local business around that supports community fitness! Worth frequenting Their pack pint runs Thursday nights at their shop 6pm, with free Coop beers and raffle prizes! They host so many fun runs like the Zoo night in Summer!
Their social media, aka Facebook page, is amazeballs, upbeat and up to date constantly so it’s easy to keep in contact. Email subscription is great to keep informed of their special events like ladies nights and more importantly the newbie running programs they host each season.
As a runner, I’m so happy to have such a supportive local business!

This store is amazing! Great customer service, great selection and they don’t rush you. Their pricing is very reasonable, and they’re local– SUPPORT LOCAL. Anyone that supports local, gets my support.

Unfortunately, I live on the West Coast and only travel to OKC a few times each year. This store has given me one of the most comfortable running shoes I’ve worn. Step analysis, great selection to run around the block in before deciding, more than helpful staff!
Only reason for 4, and not 5 stars, is the use of new/​off-​brand shoes. Mine have only been used indoors and is starting to show major wear for the short amount of time I’ve had them. I’m not a heavy runner and haven’t put a ton of miles on them. The manufacturer is in Colorado, and not easily reachable.
Back to the store, I will be buying another pair from RC when I’m back in March.

Super cool store with lots of cute clothes and shoes. The people who work there are incredibly willing to give a tour, educate you on shoes, or just chat about community runs. I bought some shoes from here that are incredibly comfortable for standing during long periods for my work, and they are supposed to help your posture as well by allowing you to lean back a bit. I plan to visit this store more frequently in the future.

I’m on record as saying that the only reason one should run is when facing a hungry, uncaged lion,* but due to a series of bad decisions, I now find myself in another situation I hadn’t previously considered, one where the ability to run is also valuable. You fitness freaks have convinced me that Red Coyote is the place to start, so I headed in and met Christy. I immediately confessed my failures, and she was nice enough to take me under her wing.
Apparently I’m far from the first novice to poke my head in, because they have the process down to a science. The video treadmill reveals your many failures, which they’ll only mention to you if you ask them to do so, and guides them toward shoe options that meet your needs. Christy grabbed three options, brought them for me to try, and not only did she pick a winner, she showed me an alternative lacing strategy (there is such a thing!) that made them feel even more stable and solid on my freakishly shaped feet.^
I expected a depressingly expensive price for this level of service, but it was extremely reasonable. Browsing the store, I found myself realizing that they must really make their money on the thousands of accessories one can purchase if one is a dedicated runner. I avoided those, but there was exactly zero pressure from Christy or the other staff to grab any of these items. They were there to tell me about the other stuff, but I remained a human being in their eyes even after declining to purchase more than shoes. (This strategy will probably work on me, since now I’ll feel guilty on my next visit.)
Well crud, I just read the reviews from all the other elites, and have determined I have said nothing not already covered in better detail by the Unilocal OKC crew. Hopefully the algorithm will slide me down the list quickly. Still, Red Coyote is awesome! They might be in the running for best service in OKC. Ha. Ha. Ha.
* Well, I suppose hungry, uncaged and apparently healthy. If it has a couple bum legs or something, I would probably sashay away cautiously instead of breaking into a full run.

If I could afford everything in Red Coyote, I’d buy it all in a heartbeat. I did their running assessment last year for new running shoes as a birthday gift from my boyfriend, and it was so helpful. I had previously been running in cross-​train Nikes, and after buying some Newtons with lots of cushion for the balls of my feet, I felt a world of difference! My Newtons are super comfortable and give my feet lots of support. My boyfriend and I ran the Runtoberfest 5K this weekend and he got some new shoes as well (I’m trying to whip him into shape…). Even though $ 100 to $ 150 seems steep for shoes, they’re great quality and will last longer than any cheap sneakers you opt for instead.
Red Coyote also has such cute athletic clothing in general. Their prices are a little steep, so I only splurge on the clothes every now and then, but they have a good selection of tanks, tees, shorts, leggings, jackets, sports bras, socks… pretty much anything you need for a good workout!

I came to Red Coyote after a few different stops at multiple shoe stores around NW OKC looking for comfortable/​not hideous sneakers for nursing school. The other stores I went to turned out to be huge disappointments because I couldn’t get any help and I couldn’t find any decent shoes. What I found when I walked into Red Coyote was the exact opposite. I was greeted as soon as I walked through the door and was pleasantly surprised to find multiple pairs of shoes that I was interested in.
The woman who helped me was extremely efficient in that she assisted me while she was helping three other people and she did it extremely well. She measured my feet and explained different sizing options for me based on what I needed the shoes for. They have treadmills you can run on that analyze your gait and match you with shoes that would be best for you. I found shoes that I really liked, however, and didn’t need to do that. The best part of it all was that they offer 10% with a Keep It Local OK card, which took $ 12 off my purchase and I’m so happy with my shoes!
I would definitely recommend Red Coyote to anyone looking for a good experience while shoe shopping and a great selection of sneakers and fitness wear!

They fitted me for running shoes. They are cute and my shins don’t hurt anymore! Yeah. I want to join one if their running groups. But not just yet. I need a little more practice.

I started running in January 2013 on a dare. I’ve since run 3 5ks, a 10k, and a half marathon, but I don’t really think of myself as a «serious» runner (after the half marathon, I’m not sure if I’ll ever run again!)
I bought my first pair of running shoes at Red Coyote on the recommendation of a friend who IS a «serious runner». I had the best experience. The gait analysis, as others have mentioned, makes sure you’re in the right shoe. There was no pressure to buy the priciest ones (although I did anyway, because they felt the best). Plus, I LOVE that they give back to the community, and that their staff actually run the races as well: every race I’ve ever run in the OKC area has had a Red Coyote team or Red Coyote pacers.
Conclusion? Good selection, incredible service, A+.

To be clear: I only run if chased. And really even then I’d have to think long and hard about it. I was once talked into doing a 5K and I walked the majority of it. In all fairness, my doc says running would be the absolute worst thing for my particular breed of back issues, so I do have a pass… But all of that being said, I LOVE Red Coyote Running & Fitness. I love that they throw in the fitness for non-​runners like me. I like that you don’t feel judged when you come in to buy shoes and you say, «I’m not a runner». I love that they do a gait analysis to help you find said shoes. I love that they accept your Keep it Local card for 10% off on everything. I love the friendly staff and the great new space.
But more than anything, I love this place for my runner of a husband. It gives him a great group of folks to run the Pack Pint Run 5k every Thursday so he can keep up his weekly mileage and not have to do it alone. I love that they partner with Coop for this so that you run and get a beer at the end. I love that they also partner with Tucker’s so that you can often get a free beer or shake for mentioning RC – it makes me feel like I have something in common with runners (because there’s little I love more in this world than beer & shakes). I love that they are mindful of safety and security at Pack Pint Runs so that my husband stays safe.
For those of you keeping track, I’ve said ‘love’ ten times (11 now) in a review about a place with running in the name. I love (12) not running, so that’s really saying something about Red Coyote!

Sigh. I love running stores. Especially pretty ones with an awesome variety of cute running apparel and accessories. Walk into Red Coyote and you’ll find all of that and more! The workers are really attentive and knowledgable about running.
Only downside are the prices. Even with sales, things are still expensive.

I live an hour and a half from Red Coyote, so I did a bit of research and read a lot of reviews before I made the trip. A small handful of people have mentioned poor customer service, but from my experience, that just isn’t true.
The moment I walked in, I was greeted. They weren’t overly busy (I chose an awkward time intentionally), but they had a steady flow of customers the entire time I was there. I explained to them that I was getting into running after losing some weight, and that I would like to have the gait analysis done. The analysis was quick and easy, after which they measured my feet (when’s the last time a store did more than ask YOU your shoe size?), they asked me a few questions about how I would be wearing the shoes, and then I was brought 3 different shoes from 3 different companies that they felt would support my needs.
At this point, they saw the cheap faded cotton socks I was wearing. To me, socks are socks, but my sales rep pulled a pair of socks off the wall and said to try them & that I didn’t have to buy them, but that every runner should know what it feels like to run in the appropriate sock. The socks make all the difference. Suggestive sales work! Mind you, at no point in my experience did I feel any pressure to buy.
So with these fancy new socks on, Ryan (my sales rep) left me to take some time to try on the shoes. Why did she leave me all alone? Because they let you take them for a spin! I put ¼−½ mile on each shoe. When I was done, she was observant and ready to hear what I had to say about the shoes. After a few more questions and explaining the pressure and discomfort I felt in certain shoes, she went and grabbed me 2 more shoes to try out. Guess what I did then. To the treadmill! After another mile of running, I had made my decision. The Mizuno Wave Sayonara was my shoe.

junkie, so naturally I looked up the prices and Red Coyote was spot on.
The atmosphere is laid back and comfortable. It’s a no pressure environment with like-​minded individuals who love running, and love beer! Who can’t get behind that kind of mentality?
I’m not anti-​Nike in any way. I’ve worn Free Runs in the past and liked them enough to buy 2 pairs, but it was because of the limited selection of running shoes in the stores you find in the mall. How awesome would it be to go to a store that is focused on running shoes, and offers numerous companies that specialize in just that? (HINT: Very awesome.)
In the end, I left with new shoes that I knew fit right and didn’t require a break in period. Yes, I did buy the socks too. Regardless of what level of a runner you feel you are, from beginning to end, Red Coyote is the right choice. You’ll pay the same price as you will at Finish Line or Champs, but you’re not forced to walk out with Nike. You’ll leave with a shoe that was purpose built for your foot. That’s a great feeling.

The person who thought it was a good idea to put Tucker’s Onion Burgers right next to Red Coyote (RC) is an evil genius; seriously, a certifiable villain. Also, this review is long. Sorry.
If you’re someone who likes to wander without help, they’ll let you do that. If you’re completely lost in a store that involves athletics and the very thought of exercise causes hyperventilation, there are people to help you through that. If you’re like me and you sort of know what you’re doing, but you’re too lazy to look for stuff by yourself, they’ll help you with that as well.
Even before I went in, I was fairly certain that my feet over-​pronate slightly when I run (or walk). But when the guy asked if I wanted to try out the gait analysis, I decided to verify. Except, I was wearing dress clothes; you can imagine how goofy it looks when someone’s running barefoot, pant legs rolled up, tie flapping around.
After verifying that I do have mild over-​pronation, he brought me some socks, measured my feet (multiple times to make sure), and brought out three pairs of shoes. All of this was done with a quiet confidence that conveyed that he knew what he was doing, without any car-​salesman tactics or up-​selling; they’re just as helpful and friendly telephonically. They’re laid back in their approach; they understand that most of the people who come in know what they want, so they’re not likely to push unnecessary stuff on you.
They have Brooks Ravenna 4’s, which are loved by most (if not all) the runners that I know. They’re $ 110 on Brooks’ website (same at Red Coyote), and even searching across the interwebs, the lowest price I found was $ 103 (not including s+h). I knew the cost, but that didn’t stop the Indian in me from doing the whole, «do you have a sale going on?» routine. Turns out they don’t. Ever. A single tear rolled down my cheek.
But they do take KeepItLocalOK! That’s 10% off your purchase. After trying to find a pair of (just as good and $ 30 cheaper) Ravenna 3’s online and ultimately failing, I bought the Ravenna 4’s for $ 107ish (KILOK + tax included). If I could have done better, don’t tell me. I’ll be bothered knowing that I didn’t get the best deal.
The prices are slightly high-​ish (not really), but this isn’t Walmart. It’s not even an above average department store. They specialize in fitness and running equipment, and if you were expecting to pay $ 30-​$ 50 for running shoes, there’s a Kohl’s that way.[1] Actually, Kohl’s has ASICS; in fact, I’m pretty certain my brother owns the same pair of ASICS that I tried at RC, and he paid $ 30ish at Kohl’s. There you go. You’re welcome. It comes down to what you’re needing. If you need shoes to walk from your garage to the mailbox, you’re stupid to spend your money at RC.
Also, get some Balega Ultra-​Light socks. They’re priced more than your average socks ($ 12 for one pair minus the KILOK discount) but my freakin’ goodness! Those socks are made out of hope and fairy dust. And polyester.
I wish I could remember the name of the guy who helped me recently. I’d say keep an eye out for a tall, skinny, athletic, white guy, but… they’re all tall, skinny, athletic, white guys; or white girls. He had some white guy name. Mike? Brian? Reginald? L’Carpetron?
Summary: This is as good as it gets, so [*][*][*][*][*]. Unless they start having sales, then I’ll petition Unilocal to allow for [*][*][*][*][*][*] reviews.

I came in for a running shoe fitting, and though I was 3^rd in line the wait wasn’t too bad. The gentleman that helped me was a great listener (I’ve been running for quite a few years, so had quite a few injuries to lament about when choosing shoes) and gave me some great shoe advice. I did feel like it was a bit of an assembly line, however.
Once I was told what type of shoe was appropriate for my running style, they handed me over to Katie (!) who works directly with shoe fittings. She pulled out three shoes that all felt great, and was happy to chat or not to chat depending on my cues. I love that in a sales rep!
The whole staff seemed very knowledgeable and excited to help. I wish things had been a bit less rushed, but they were busy so I can’t really blame them for it. All in all I’m very happy with the customer service as well as the products I ended up purchasing!

First time in and I’m sold. I’m not a runner, but I play one on TV. At least here I do, because they take video of you running and play it back for you.
I really just wanted to go somewhere I knew they’d take good care of me. I ran on the treadmill, watched the video, tried on about 8 different pairs of shoes, and found a pair I really liked. Katie helped me find what I was looking for, and did not try to up sell at all. I asked to see the socks, the pants, etc., but I never expected such a low pressure sales experience at a high-​end sports shop. I assumed they’d take one look at a self-​professed rookie and decide to sell me bras and insoles and heart monitors and the like. Not so– color me impressed.
The shop is bright and beautiful. The people are friendly and helpful. The shop is locally owned and sponsors many different running events in OKC. Like Nina B points out, they also do a discount ($ 25 off for every $ 250 spent) which is 10% but somehow feels a little better.
Now– here’s the real test. Do I use them for actual running, or just running errands, running to grab a beer, running to the store to buy more beer?
