OG&E

Haven’t received a paper bill in 3 months even though I am not signed up on paperless. More and more power outages and longer and longer to get the power back on. Not the OGE i grew up with. Arrogant dismissive customer service that you set on hold for long periods of time to talk to and lack of commitment to providing reliable power like they used to.

I guess I should cross my fingers and hope that my experiences with OG&E will continue to be reasonably pleasant unlike my fellow Unilocalers… Not that there’s much I can do if this electric utility company fails to meet my needs in the future…
The wait times are a bit ridiculous when you call; recently, I was on hold for nearly 30 minutes. But it was a simple fix of leaving the speaker phone on while I did other work. Once I was connected to a human being, it was pleasant, and he was helpful. Actually, there were some issues with our account, and he told me that he would call me back once he figured out what was happening. And he called me back, just like he said. I’m not sure why that surprised me…
The electricity bill is kind of high considering how careful we are about our usage. We’ve done everything in our power to make our apartment unit energy efficient, but our bill still seems kind of high. I don’t know if that’s an OG&E issue, or an apartment issue… I won’t be able to find out either, because I was informed that we’re not eligible for the Home Energy Efficiency Program (HEEP) program because of our living arrangements. But if your residence is a house (as opposed to a rental unit), I would suggest you call them about HEEP. You could maybe save yourself money in the long-​term, and it’s the environmentally responsible thing to do, I guess.
Beyond that… The new website is nice…

I just have some silly questions for you OG&E:
Why is it so (insert swear word of choice here) difficult to get someone to service my thermostat?
Did you know that I was boiling in my own muck last weekend?
Did you know that I already had a AC technician come out and say it’s an OG&E issue?
Here’s my story for all the folks who care to read — — — — -
At the first sign of trouble, I called the toll free number to see if someone could come out and remedy our issue.
A friendly operator picks up, «Hello, my name is _​_​_​so and so_​_​_​how can I assist you today?»
I told him of my issue and the first thing he asked me was,
«Oh, well. Are you enrolled in SmartHours?»
Me: «Yes, I believe I am.»
He transfers me to a different line. I was put on hold for 20 minutes. I hang up. Mind you, this was my second try at attempting to reach a human voice.
Since the bill was under my husband’s name, I had him give it a shot. We come to find out that we were not enrolled in SmartHours and in order to get a technician to visit our home, we have to call tomorrow morning when they open. Someone will help us enroll in SmarHours and THEN we can get some help.
REALLY?
Why do I have to enroll in Smart hours in order to speak to someone about my thermostat? I thought we were already enrolled. Clearly our thermostat seems to think so. It makes NO bleeping sense.
The husband makes the call and explains our situation to an operator. As I was listening to the conversation, I began to wonder if anyone at OG&E knew what the heck was going on. Fan-​TAB-​ulous.
Our AC is still on the fritz and no one knows how to fix it. —– And we don’t get a call back from a tech to schedule a time for them to come by.

Same thing just happened to me! first time i made a payment on their website and it didnt go through. I paid it so early I was able to pay again before the due date. Then i get a letter saying they are raising my deposit $ 190 because of this payment and my bf’s activation fee didnt go through for $ 35 in may of last year?! Ive called my bank and they verified i dont have any rejected payments last month and that my lowest balance was $ 500, more than enough for my bill. Ive called og&e twice and confirmed i typed in the right routing number and account number. Now waiting on a manager to call me back, and im sure that wont happen today. Also everytime I called og&e they acted like i was stupid and i dont know how electronic payments work! ive worked in customer service for 7 years and i didnt get any from anyone i spoke to at this company. I will be calling og&e everyday, 3 times a day until this is resolved. they will not get my money and keep it for the rest of my life and earn free interest off it!

I know a lot of times you have no choice what electric company to use, but in my life I’ve used a few living in different areas. I have to say that OG&E is by far the worst I have ever had to deal with. By far.
We live in a larger house and have for over two years. Our electric bill is high, and we always pay it. I mean, I’m not living with candles and hoping the sun comes out for heat. But they changed some policy this year where if you have any problem with payments, you get assessed a $ 450 deposit ON TOP of anything you have already paid. I had a payment not go through because I typed in a wrong number entering in my checking information. I get a bill saying my payment didn’t go through — duh — and that because of that I now have an extra $ 450 deposit. Are you kidding me? I try to make the normal payment both on the phone and online and it will not allow me to, it says I have to call and talk to someone. No problem.
I called OGE and asked to talk to a supervisor about this because I am pissed at this point. And I am told that a supervisor cannot do anything about this. I tell the person on the other end that I need to speak to a supervisor please, and he simply tells me this a new policy change to OGE and there is nothing they can do about it.
So my question then is: «How do you expect people that cannot pay their bill anyway to then pay an extra $ 450 deposit on their account if they have trouble paying or have a missed payment in the first place?» The guy simply tells me that’s their problem. He offers to make some payment installment on the new deposit and I finally just say fine because it’s apparent I’m not going to talk to a supervisor now. He makes some long list of paying it off and I say fine. Then when he tells me the due date, which is the 27^th, I say no problem but I get paid on the 1^st. Is it going to be a problem if it’s paid that date? The guy tells me it’s no problem, just make sure that it’s paid.
Today is the 2^nd, I tried to pay yesterday online, cannot make a payment. Tried to pay over their automated system, cannot make a payment.
Now, I’m sitting on hold and have been for over 45 minutes with a very rude and hateful girl who again, will not allow me to talk with a supervisor. I’m asking her why I cannot pay the payment as I said I would and she is now telling me basically tough crap. I’ve asked repeatedly for a supervisor and she simply tells me there is nothing they can do about it either. It’s awesome. She doesn’t want to help, she doesn’t want to get me to someone else, and basically I’m now just put on hold every time she gets back on the phone, I assume hoping I’ll hang up. The customer service here is horrid.
Unfortunately, there is nothing I can do about this because electric companies here in Oklahoma have a «monopoly» in the areas that they cover. And, I’m not sitting here with kids without electric. So what am I going to do? End up paying over $ 950 for a $ 400 electric bill.
Bottom line, if you’re moving and you are looking at different areas, check what electric company is out there to use. If it’s OGE, I highly recommend that you find a place that uses someone else for electric. Otherwise, you’re going to end up with service that is not only extremely expensive but customer service that is horrid and a company that does not give a flip about anything but your money.

Wish I didn’t HAVE to have this company for my electric.
