Specialties
Contemporary European Cuisine.
Lunches are simple, honest food — mostly salads and sandwiches made with fresh, local ingredients.
Dinners are more elaborate. The emphasis is on ingredients — fresh, local and organic whenever possible. Combinations that aren’t overly contrived, but are true to the key flavors of the dish.
The recipes are created by chef-owner Suzanne Roll. She doesn’t strive to be cutting edge, rather her focus is on creating a dish that you would want to eat time and time again. Our hope is to be a place that reminds you a bit of somewhere special in the European countryside.
History
Established in 1992.
Suzanne (mom) and I opened the restaurant together in 1992. She is a self-trained chef who had dreams of her own restaurant. I had graduated from Business School and was living in Chicago. My brother was in college. She says that «she didn’t want to get to be 80 and wonder if she could have made it.» I hated my corporate finance job and was ready for a change. I came home to help her get organized and open the restaurant. I thought that I would stay for 3 months. The years have flown by, some easier, some harder than others. We complement each other. She is the creative force, tending to the recipes, ingredients, flowers and plants. I am the practical side of the business, paying the bills and employees, ordering, organizing and overseeing. In other words, she is the one who makes things special and I am the one who makes them happen. Neither one of us could be here without the other. Over the years, the restaurant has been the center of lives and our family.
