Although they have a great lunch special, their time management is terrible. I was told that my pick up order will take 25 min rather than 50. For some reason during there lunch special(in my opinion should be one of the most busiest hours) Sakura decided to have not the appropriate amount of staff working. Due to this problem and how much the employees slack off(almost everyone but a few and on multiple occasions). I was late for a really important appointment. If you love to wait for a good 10 – 15 min longer than what you expected to eat then Sakura is perfect!

Used to be great now just overpriced. Tastes like imitation crab. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone looking for a great deal

Change in ownership has produced an unfortunate change in quality — Mango Tango roll now is skimpy(each piece DOESNOT have salmon or avocado). Plus the new waitstaff, at least the young man, isn’t interested in service but is fascinated instead with his mobile device. I’ve given it 3 tries and have to now give it up, as I don’t go out to dinner to get angry, but to instead to enjoy some food.

Glacial, disorganized and rude service. Came here hoping for a quick lunch. Ordered simple rolls, tempura, edamame and a lunch special, but the clock kept ticking and ticking and no food. A table that got seated after us, was served their tempura before us and a table with three girls took nearly 20 minutes while we were there to just get their salad and miso. When I got up to ask what the hold up was, I could see several plates of prepared food just sitting there while our waitress was taking her sweet time putting salads in bowls. When I returned to my table, the girls told us they had been at their table for nearly an hour. Another 5 minutes passed when another table that was sat after us got served miso before us, I got up again and told the waitress(who was still dressing salads) that if we don’t have all of our food on our table in two minutes, we are leaving. At first she ignored me, so I told her I knew she could hear me and repeated my ultimatum. That got her attention. She closed in on me saying I didn’t have to yell at her, to which I responded«Yes, I do!» I repeated«2 minutes, or we’re out.» I returned to my table. 2 minutes passed. No food. We left.

I was there on a pretty busy night but the wait was still pretty long. We were seated on the side to have drinks while we waited. When we were finally seated, we were seated right by the bathroom, which i was not too thrilled about but i was hungry so whatever. The food was okay. The baked mussels were too sweet and felt like i was eating coleslaw. The yellowtail and salmon were pretty yummy. The garlic edamame was way too sweet and not enough garlic on it. Their Philadelphia rolls were tasty too. I may choose a different place to go for such next time I’m in town.

Very good sushi. Ordered a roll and miso soup. Everything was exactly as I’d hoped. Was treated to a complimentary cheese cake bite afterward, which was great(and I don’t even like cheesecake.)

Our favorite place for sushi! The staff is friendly and efficient, the place is clean and the food is very fresh. I like the little cheesecake they give you at the end of the meal. It’s a nice touch and super yummy! Prices are on par with other sushi restaurants.

came here for dinner during my stay in Ojai, and this place was definitely NOT a let down. it’s quite spacious and the servers/sushi chefs were very friendly with my party(of 10). they made our dinner very pleasant. I ordered the Mango Tango roll and it was delicious! it’s on the spicy end of the spectrum, so if you like a little kick to your sushi – order this! it’s a California roll with shrimp tempura, topped with salmon, mango, and avocado, it also has a hint of Sriracha on top. my friends were also satisfied with what they ordered. and if our tummies are happy, then we’re happy! :) if I’m ever in town again, I will be coming back for more!

Thank goodness for the picture of the storefront on here because we wouldn’t have found this place otherwise. I ordered an Ojai roll(requested for it not to be fried) and was very satisfied with the flavors, presentation, and quality of fish in the roll. We also ordered a Mango Tango Roll which proved to be surprisingly refreshing. The mango complimented the salmon wonderfully! There were also complimentary cheesecake bites offered at the end of the meal. Good sushi for a decent price. I plan on going back next time I’m in Ojai and craving sushi.

Worst service, no air conditioning and don’t bother ordering anything to go. They will serve food to all of the tables that arrive after you, then they«might» begin your«to go» order. I have no idea how the food is, by the time I got it, I was already 15 minutes late for work and had no time for lunch. It really sucks to pay, sit and wait in the hot stuffy place and then go hungry. I honestly don’t even know why I took the order when it finally came up, I had to throw it away. This place sucks sucks sucks.

Best sushi bar and only teppanyaki in town. Sushi bar staff are all very respectful. Your liver after too many sake’s, not so much.

The sushi was good both presentation and quality. They are still having growing pains getting used to their new store. Our server forgot our tea after asking for it twice, we just gave up. Their wine list needs expanding and considerable improvement. Very happy environment.

The Dirty Truth: I used to go to the one in Mira Monte, but now that this one is close by it’s my go to Sushi spot. Staff is great, food is great. It’s entertaining with the table where they cook the food in front of you and they throw the fake fish with the fish meat in it and they always have a game on. It’s not really the kind of place that I would want to go for sports as it’s hectic cuz it’s always busy, but it’s a nice touch :) The cheesecake square at the end is a perfect top off and I always leave there full. They have domestic beers on tap and it’s close to everything if you live downtown. Trying to think of a negative is hard, sometimes it’s hard to get a seat and they don’t open til 5. I wish there was a slower paced sushi place in general, but I don’t think that exists. I’m stoke this place opened and hope it’s there forever :) The Stats: Ambiance: Fun And Comfortable Food: Outstanding! Service: Great! Cost: What You Make Of It, Normal

Sakura Ojai is great!, specially for sushi. But I’m giving the place three stars due to the time they take to give the customer their food. I have place around 5 orders since they open. I work nearby so it’s convenient. I always call ahead of time before my lunch, but every time I have order they tell me: ” your order will be ready in 40 minutes“ It’s only a lunch portion of Teriaky Chicken! Restaurant is barley starting so it’s understandable.

I stopped in here on a whim today for lunch. I ordered my usual favorites — cucumber salad and a tempura shrimp crunch roll with soy paper. The staff was attentive and friendly and my food came out with average speed. The cucumber salad was fairly boring — fresh slices of cucumber swimming in a clear dressing with a bite to it. The tempura crunch roll was tasty and I’d definitely get it again. One thing that was kind of odd though, usually this roll comes with eel sauce on it. My roll did taste like it had eel sauce on it, but when I asked the female proprietor later for some extra eel sauce, I was brought a small dish of sauce that did not taste like eel sauce. It wasn’t as sweet, nor as thick and tasted much more strongly of soy sauce. This was a big enough disappointment to me I would have knocked another star off for it, but then I saw I had somehow not been charged for my bowl of brown rice, so my enjoyment of my visit stands at 4 stars. Oh, it does disappoint me that they only have Pepsi products on tap here. I really don’t like them compared to Coke products and that brought my meal down somewhat.

This place is a lot nicer and cleaner then the old/other Sakura. They have a teppan menu and second best sushi in the valley. Very friendly staff and have a tv for the latest game.
