Ojai Rancho Inn

Great place to stay in Ojai for a relaxing mid week getaway. I have stayed here before and loved it then as well. I particularly enjoy the laid back vibe and overall dog love at this place. I’m sure we’ll be back again and again.
All of the Social Shelter Club properties are unique and carefully curated to have a vintage and artisanal vibe. I would recommend checking out The Alamo up by Los Olivos — we had a great stay there as well.

This stay has been flawless. The staff is really caring and do their best to make sure you are happy with your stay. I always feel comfortable here and it is always super clean. I love their bath towels too. Haha. Most hotels they are not even close to this comfy. It always feels like a home away from home. I have never actually gone in the pool but the surrounding area is lovely and relaxing.

What a great place to stay while in Ojai. Very friendly staff and well designed property. Comfy beds and spa inside was great. Décor is beautiful and up to date. Just a few minutes walking into town too.

We only stayed for one night but it was seamless and although it’s a first floor only motel, there was no noise. The bed was very comfy and the in-​room hot tub was really cool! There’s also a bar on site that we didn’t have a chance to explore but it looked very chill. The Rancho Inn is close to everything so exploring downtown Ojai is simple. We would definitely go back!

A very cute little inn located minutes from town. The rooms, although small, are quite charming and I love their rustic feel! We had a room with a jacuzzi tub, which I highly recommend after a long day of riding their complimentary bikes around the town. The bar located on the property (Chief’s Peak) is very hip and inviting. A great place to wind down (or turn up) after dinner. Overall, I highly recommend!

This inn is great! Came here for a little getaway & I was very happy with my choice of place. The area is very calm & peaceful. The room is designed for maximum relaxation. Very large bed, jacuzzi tub in the room. The lighting was dim but in a good way. The decór reminded me of a cabin it lodge. I loved it. The only reason I knocked off a star is because of the shower. It was very small & instead of little travel shampoo, conditioner & body wash, this inn had all 3 in mounted dispensers inside the shower. I found this very odd & I was not a fan of it. Other than that, the Ojai Rancho Inn is definitely one of my faves!

Clean rooms. Friendly staff. COMFORTABLE BEDS!!! Nice patio setup, rooms are done nicely and the staff at the desk is super helpful! Used to stay at the Capri in Ojai, but the quality of their amenities (radio not working, tv not working) and the beds that are not comfortable made us try this place. Haven’t been back. Love it here!

Great price thanks to the Unilocal offer, and managed to get the last room on a holiday weekend. Huge, king size bed, jacuzzi, and nice location made this a great place to stay.

We loved Ojai Rancho Inn! My boyfriend and I stayed over Labor Day weekend and had the most wonderful time here. We stayed in the kitchenette room. The king bed was incredibly comfy, AC worked like a charm (and it was most definitely necessary!), and our room was nice and quiet. We loved the bikes you can borrow to take into town. The Main Street with all the restaurants is just a short less than 5 min bike ride away and there’s even a bike trail in the back, so you don’t have to be on the main road. Staff was friendly and Abel was especially helpful! We had a great time and already can’t wait to be back in the winter time!

Writing this review after leaving the same day I checked in. I’m not sure what all the amazing reviews are about. We checked in and got into our room which was about 90 degrees when we walked in. Reception had informed me that «another guest broke the a/​c unit» and we’d just have to use the remote. The window is about 15 ft from the parking lot. The bathroom is teeny tiny. The «jacuzzi» could maybe squeeze in two people. The bed was terrible, the sheets were scratchy, and somebody else’s hair was on the pillow. Charming. The room is dark and there are only a few lights so if you want to see you have to keep the curtains open, so everyone can see directly into your room. You are directly on the street so you can hear all the traffic. This was definitely not worth the price.

the Ojai Rancho Inn was different than what I expected; not in a bad way, but also not in a good way.
the staff were very friendly and very helpful. my group had to check in and the front desk made it as smooth as possible. she filled us in on what we needed to know and we were in and out of the lobby within 10 mins (would’ve been sooner but there was someone in front of us and reservation was under my other friend’s name).
we stayed in the home that wasn’t on site, but a little away from the inn. this home is separated into two different units. we stayed in the one that had 2 bedrooms and 1 bath. the home was nice, but we noticed some things:
1. there are no curtains for any of the windows downstairs (living room, dining room, and kitchen). we found it odd and a little creepy just because our neighbors could easily see what we were doing.
2. the lighting in this unit is very, very dim. at least in the place where we needed it the most (living and dining area).
3. there is NO air conditioning in the living area. which made it unfortunate for us because that’s where my friends and I spent most of our time. they did have an AC unit in the kitchen (oddly placed?) and the bedrooms.
4. there’s a weird/​random room next to the bathroom. we couldn’t figure what it was, but maybe it was used for laundry? the window from the bathroom is connected to that room. you can access that room through one of the bedrooms.
5. We had problems with the wifi here. some of us couldn’t connect and some of us could. but this was the least of our problems.
besides this, we appreciated the stay! they have a huge backyard for you to use, parking available in front of home, it’s also connected to the Inn (through the backyard). lastly, there’s also a pool and bar available for their guests! décor and environment is definitely on the rustic side.

I stayed in room16 last night 6÷29÷15 and I have to say it was a rough night trying to sleep in a hot room. The guy that checked us in was very pleasant and accomodating, but our room was 94 degrees when we first got there at 5pm. I turned on the small a/​c and came back 3 hours later to find that it went down to 83 degrees– Very Unpleasant! We even brought in a fan, but it just was not comfortable. I paid $ 133 and now I see the rooms are going for $ 89 which makes my one night there feel even more miserable.

I have had Ojai Rancho Inn bookmarked for a long time. And all of the photos that Shelter Social Club post on Instagram has made me want to stay here even more so… It’s a wonderful little boutique hotel, super romantic and quaint without that cheesy vibe. If you need a little get-​a-​way come here. The rooms are clean and decorated so cute. The bed and pillows were so cozy that getting out of bed was an actual event.
The staff are friendly and very helpful. If you come here on a whim without planning ask the front desk for a list of activities and they also have great recommendations for every refined palate.
If you are drawn to the more artsy, handcrafted vibe then this is your place! The gift shop is amazing as well.
If you are one expecting a 4 SEASONS experience then go someplace else… So lame to knock this place. Granted the pool was closed when we stayed here. If you are booking through a third party agency then be smart and phone the hotel to see if the bar and pool is open prior to booking. There are plenty of amazing bars and restaurants in town. Oh, and you can even buy booze and take it to your room and take advantage of the lawn area. I think that sounds much more enjoyable than a bar. True it is close to the main road and it is noisy so REQUEST a room furtherest from the road. (DING DiNG DING) and if you have to sleep with earplugs then you are obviously a light sleeper and should request another room. It’s common sense, some people are just prudes and debby downers. This place is amazing.

My boyfriend and I absolutely loved the Ojai Rancho Inn. The décor is hip and current (lots of succulents, batik, raw wood, and Pendleton prints), and the free bikes were a plus. We loved biking down the paths behind the hotel. We had the room with a jacuzzi, which was awesome, and the beds were really comfortable and clean. The Chief’s peak was an adorable little bar, and the office store had some cute things for sale.
The reason I’m not giving it 5 stars is the POOL AREA. Hello, you have this adorable area with a teepee, swingseat, and shady grass, surrounding a FILLED pool, and you won’t let anyone IN IT? I get that the pool itself is closed for some sort of zoning reason, but let people go hang out around it at least, what a waste of space! We just peeked in through the gate at that Shangri-​la and vowed to come back when we could go in it. Give your guests some sort of pool-​less discount, Ojai Rancho Inn, because that’s a little bit ridiculous!

Meh, so so… I also have a feeling a lot of their 5-​star reviews are friends posting to help their rating.
I had higher expectations for this place. Here’s the long and short of it:
Pros:
— Close to downtown, which makes it convenient
— Cute and hip
— Fairly peaceful
— Decently priced — but after staying here and paying this, I’ll be going elsewhere
Cons:
— Pool is closed. This notice was buried in the
email. The very nice receptionist told us it was because of safety reasons, however, we came to find out that it was because they had too many parties. This really bummed me out, as we were there during a hot weekend and all I wanted to do was lay by the pool.
— Street noise is very noticeable. I slept with earplugs the whole time.
— Sheets, pillows and towels were all the lowest grade, cheapest options on the market. Basically the same as a Motel 6.
— They opened a bar in their parking lot, which takes away from parking for their guests. Both Friday and Saturday night, we had to wait for a spot in our own hotel. Kind of B.S. if you ask me.
Note to owner:
Instead of trying to be the coolest spot in town, why don’t you try putting your guests first. Take care of your pool situation and reserve parking for your guests, instead of catering to locals coming to the bar. Thank you for making my babymoon a less than enjoyable experience.

Best experience ever! We enjoyed one night in one of their cosy and wood smelling rooms. Their décor is very tasteful and comes from local artists.
The staff is extraordinary sweet! They told us the best places and did everything to make sure we had the best of times. Complementary bikes rentals and coffee in the morning were the cherry on the top. See you soon!

What a cool little place. First off the lady who checked us in was so nice and helpful. The grounds are very cute. There are 4 sweet little bikes complementary to guests. We took them out on the bike path in the morning and into town for breakfast. Do not miss this. It was the best part of my day. Would definitely come back again!

Such an amazing retreat! It’s barely 1.5 hours away from LA but you feel like you’re in another world. The property is rustic with a hipster vibe and only has 10 units or so, which means more privacy but harder parking. They have their own bikes that you can check out during your stay, along with a pool, a horse, a teepee and a bar (Chief’s Peak). It’s also super close to downtown so you can walk or bike.

I stayed in the jacuzzi suite for the weekend and loved it, although had a hard time sleeping. Since everything is wood, there’s a lot of echoing and the room itself settles quite often. I could also hear a lot of stuff going on with the pipes and heater. I’m the type of person who believes in «no pain, no gain» so I bit my tongue over the lack of sleep because everything was so friggin’ cute. All in all it was a great visit and I would come again.
