Established in 1991.

Family owned restaurant and tequila bar with humble beginnings as a small market and taco stand. Upon a move to downtown Ojai, we’ve opened our much lauded tequila bar and have incorporated hundred year family recipes to our menu, while still maintaining true to our roots; serving the most authentic Mexican food in Ojai.

Ruben S.

Business Owner

Long time seminarian and former large animal veterinarian from Mexico, Ruben came to the US to help his older brother recover from a heart attack back in 1985. After his brother recouped, he toured the Ventura area and stumbled upon Ojai. The small town charm and quaintness of the community reminded him of growing up in his home town of Tlaltenango in Mexico. 6 months later, he had moved the rest of the family north and established the first Mexican goods store in the area. The store expanded to include a butcher shop and ultimately taco stand with fresh carnitas being fried on the weekends on their extensive back patio, the old fashioned Mexican way!

In 1998, Ruben and his family moved the business downtown, closed the store portion and expanded the business to include a full service restaurant and Tequila Bar. They hope to impart a little piece of Mexico with every dish they make and tequila they pour.
