This review is solely based on my experience last night. A group of 7 of us went to MaineStreet last night for some drinks and karaōke. We arrived a little after 9pm, there were maybe 12 – 15 people there, most were men that were leaning on the bar just chatting and making it damn near impossible for anyone to get near the bar to order a drink. We decided to go get a table and then made our way back to the bar.
Here’s where things were a little unsettling for me. All 7 of us went up to the bar together, my wife and I asked for two rum buckets, we were told they no longer have them, even though they’re still listed on the drink menu. We finally settled on Red Bull and Vodka, two drinks = $ 19. 3 others got the SAME exact drink (Red Bull and Vodka) two were charged $ 11 each, and the other was charged $ 13. The next time we went up, my wife and I were charged $ 20 for two drinks, my friend who had been charged $ 13 the first time asked me to order her drink in hopes that I’d get a cheaper price, but this time, it was $ 14!!! The bartender was just making up prices as he went along, totally uncalled for and so unprofessional.
As the night went on, the place filled up some, but for a Friday night, it wasn’t as busy as most bars normally are. I understand it’s «off season» now, but it was a little sad.
The sound system is just ok, nothing fancy, you can hardly hear the singers over the drunks talking loudly and the screaming drunk straight girls who are there for their bachelorette parties.
Another thing that was a little weird to me was that in the past, they’ve had a «bouncer» either outside or just inside the door to check IDs of people first coming in. Last night, there was no one to be found and no one was even carded at the bar. Two of the girls we were with had just turned 21 within the last 3 weeks, but the way things were running last night, anyone under 21 could have been in there and been served.

This gay bar multiplex is the size of 4 NYC bars in one: 1: cabaret stage; 2: pool table and open space; 3: dance floor with DJ; 4: upstairs lounge with ample outdoor space.
Reasonable drink prices, tons of space, everything is clean and the service is friendly… what more do you want from a bar?
It’s fairly dead on a Saturday before 10:30PM, and the drag show has a ridiculous $ 10 cover charge (which they’d never get away with in New York). Get there around 10 to carve out your spot at the upstairs bar and wait for the dance floor to fill up.
It’s really not half bad for the size of this tiny little town!

Depending on what time of the year you visit this place, you could have a different experience. The very first time I visited Ogunquit — years ago, my first impression of Main Street was — wow, what a big space to dance in this tiny village. Yes, the dance floor has always been a drawing card for me — irrespective of who the DJ of the night is. I have come to terms with the music scene here on the North-​East coast in general and don’t have too many qualms any more. It will never be Europe — ever. It cannot be.
So on my recent visit to Ogunquit not too long ago (a couple of weeks?!) — I saw the place has been reduced to half it’s size where the main dance floor which is on the left side of the main entrance was completely blocked and closed off. I am assuming that is due to one of the following reasons — (and I wish I had checked with the staff): 1) Either they are doing some kind of renovation or 2) they have started closing off the main dance floor during non-​peak seasons. I hope it is 1. and not the latter else I would be majorly disappointed.
Visiting Ogunquit and hence Main Street during summer can be a challenge by itself. Because clearly everyone is out and about when the weather is nice. But as they say, you can’t win it all (unless of course if you are Tom Brady!) So during my past visit, I had a great time here and totally enjoyed the night of drinking and dancing. That is pretty much why you go to this place.
Having said all that, I doubt I will ever be disappointed with Main Street. For the only night club in this beautiful little town, this place, I must say is an institution of sorts. And I hope or rather I am very sure, the management is very well aware of that. Because over the years, Ogunquit and Wells seem to draw crowds from every part of the country. And just as the adjoining Front Porch has kept up with the times and managed to stay true to it’s reputation — that of a fantastic establishment; I hope Main Street follows the same footsteps too. (PS: The main dance floor — on the left side of the entrance; hopefully stays open all year round)

Not to be missed when in Ogunquit. Gay and proud. The dueling divas drag show was a fan favorite. At ten dollars a person it was worth the talent. The queens sang, for real. A friendly crowd with dancing for young and old with two dance spots. This is the place to party. Wow. Just wow. Cuties abound.

This review is based on the Dueling Drag Divas Show. They were fantastic, funny and talented. Great, entertaining show.

If your planning on going during the winter, don’t expect much of a crowd or a crazy fun time. I bought a drink it was normal strength and 11 $ bucks. Parking is slim and I’m sure during the summer it’s better. I give four stars because I haven’t been when it’s been poppin.

Adorable Patio. Great for a drink with friends, seems like everyone knows each other here. Not your average tourist spot in Maine!

Not too bad of a place. It’s packed during the summer, if you like crowds. The drinks are a little over priced for Maine and the parking sucks. You’ll need to find an open parking lot or a place on the street if you’re lucky. Don’t waste your time coming here in the winter though, it’s dead and lame. Out of the few scenes in Maine to get a drink, I’d say this is the best. Only because the lack of choices though.

Great crowd and the drinks were good. All was good untill I met the owner, who was bitching at the customers trying to close their tabs (on their credit cards). Why would you accept credit cards and allow your customer to open a tab and then be rude and mean we want to PAY our tabs

Went here during Labor Day after the rain poured like hell. We came in late afternoon. We needed a quick drink before we head back to Wells then Old Orchard Beach. The bartender was pretty knowledgeable of the bottled & draft beers as well as liquor they offer. I do wish they had a «drinks or happy hour» special which will bring the crowd in similar to bars in NYC. So the bar was pretty empty from 4:30pm to 6:30pm. I can’t really say much else at this time but will definitely visit this establishment again perhaps during night time to see how well the DJs, music & crowd are.

While the staff was postively lovely the patrons of this bar are far from friendly. Me and my friend were harassed for being on the younger side of the spectrum and had our outfits and appearance criticized to our faces without saying a word to any of the offending patrons. We came here to have a good time in an open minded place where we wouldnt be getting hit on by sketchy guys and instead ended up criticized for being under 40 and not dressed in a plaid button up or a 100% polyester blend crew neck and cargo shorts. Bar would be great if not for the close minded folk who should know better.

The following is a sequence of events that took place on friday night and saturday morning 4÷20−4÷21. I believe the events give rise to an action and claim against a public accomodation for harrassment due to sexual orientation… Please advise if the Commissions screening panel feels the same and forward forms for filing the claim, It should be noted that after I reported a sexual assault (grabbing of my buttock) the person that did it was allowed to stay at the club and in addition the club lacked any identifyable security personnel. There were three bartenders working and a dj in the dj booth… I believe the law states the club MUST have adequate security…
To the Maine Human Rights Commission:
I had been in contact with you before regarding incidents at the club Maine Street downtown as you probably recall. Last night this guy grabbed my backside after I told him several times I was not interested and to leave me alone and respect my space. Well I did as I was told by 1^st asking the staff to call the PD to which they did not. I then went to the outside and called over to the taxi drivers and asked them, then some young lady out in the smoking area offered for me to use the phone…
I expressed what had happened on the phone in brief detail. Soon two patrol cars came to the scene. They took my side of the story and then went in and found the person that was responsible asked his side to which he denied… While out in front of the club an individual walked to endge of the deck and stated I think you are a drama queen. I replied to him with my thoughts of him…
I went back in with a warning that the police did not want to have to comeback out to find out that I caused a fight or a problem. I said nothing to no one as always danced by myself and tried to enjoy the rest of the evening. Soo after that individual, assuming he had knowledge of what happened came over placed his hand on my thigh and said what happened out there I want to make sure your OK. I told him not to touch me, not ever and take take his f’in hand off my leg. He stepped away laughing. There was a staff member described as new younger and wearing a green shirt with lettering. he served my drinks and I could ID him if needed.
To my knowledge he said nothing tot he person. The rest of the night this individual kept coming up close to me and annoying me, by blocking my view of the dance floor, stepping in front of me (restricting my movement) and enjoining others a male and female to do the same. I tried to ignore them
and have fun knowing that would get them more than reacting to it.
I exited the building at 1245 am and again called for assistance to report the harrassment. I asked the arriving officers to obtain the identity of the person bothering me if they could. They because angry at me and accused me of causing a scene at the club. You dont know me. Im the most humble, quiet and reserved person there is. Im rather stuck up and snotty and am there to dance not have sex with gay men. I have the right to say who I want to be with if anybody, when i want to be with them and if I choose to or not to talk to them and or entertain them… They just dont seem to get it… The officers went into get the clubs rendition of the events. I told them i was going home, upset at the lack of security and response to these happenings and would seek action on my own (meaning a lawsuit and complaint) if everyone else refused to do anything. You may want to take notice leaning against the back bar I could smell the smell of crack cocaine being smoked in the back room…
I know that the police are limited as to what they can and will do but I felt it was wrong of the officer to turn his attention tome and make me out to bethe villain. In addition I feel its wrong that if there were action taken agaist myself, a protected class that there should be a law that the police have to retain the identity of the individuals responsible for those acts. I have no way of knowing who this person is and that if I choose to take action against them personally those rights are forfeited…
I FEEL REALLY BAD THAT ITS HAD TO COME TO THIS… HERE I AM ON A FRIDAY NIGHT WITH NOWHERE ELSE TO GO. I GUESS WE’LL JUST HAVE TO LET THE LAWYERS FIGHT IT OUT… SORRY NORMAN NOTHING PERSONAL BUT YOUR STAFF FAILED ME AND YOU SHOULD HAVE HAD ADEQUATE SECURITY AND DONE SOMETHING ABOUT THIS,

We went up to Ogunquiet for a dudes weekend and were surprised by the crowd. We managed to have fun anyhow. Karaōke and bud lights and cougars! hahaha

I’m from Orlando and have been to gay clubs all over. The music here was awesome. I was here Memorial day weekend and it was PACKED. It wasn’t a super cute crowd and definitely older but that’s to be expected. The drinks were strong and I had a lot of fun. make sure to get a place close by as these cops here do not mess around.

If you are in Ogunquit and want to get away from children, intolerant/​ignorant people, this is the place to be.
The place has pool table, dance floor, outdoor area. This is probably the «IT» place for top dance music and really for you to «dance». It caters to many types of people. Drinks were a little weak, but much better than any other places here. You can be wild and crazy. Go to beach during the day and just let your naughtiness rule here.

They gave my guy roommate’s credit card to some random girl, leaving him stranded for money for the rest of our trip. While the bartender did apologize, he did not seem overly concerned about it, and kind of shrugged it off, saying it was not his fault as there was a group of people trying to pay off tabs and it was busy.
Yes, things can get crazy at a bar at closing time, but come on, it’s off season right now. It’s going to get way busier and you need to get on your game. Also, he has an obvious guy name — there is no excuse to let a girl take his card.
They did not announce that everyone should come pay off their tabs, and instead just left my and my friend’s cards on the bar. Anyone could have walked by and picked them both up.
While this place was fun in the beginning, having my money and credit cards safe is more important. I will not be returning here, and cannot ever see myself recommending this to anyone. Sorry. :(

$ 10 for 2 drinks???
For 1 bottle of Bud and 1 draft? WTF?
I guess they have to make up for not charging a cover charge.

I see the boys below me have given Maine Street 5 stars, but I just can’t quite bring myself to agree with that rating.
While Maine Street was more up my alley than the rest of the gay bars in Ogunquit… it still didn’t seem particularly special to me. Maybe this is just because I’m from San Francisco, and we’ve got gay bars coming out of our proverbial asses.
The crowd was pretty average (at best), the DJ didn’t have a few songs (songs that have been out for a good month or two, which seemed a little off) and the staff wasn’t particularly charming. I guess the deck area is nice… if you’re a smoker.
That said, there was nothing really wrong with the space either. It was roomy, and the bathrooms weren’t too crowded. There is a relatively spacious dancefloor. It also didn’t take too long to get a drink, once you bellied up to the bar. And the drinks seemed to pack a powerful enough punch.
Overall, Maine Street was a decent way to wrap up our evening with a little dancing, but I also can’t say it is on my list of must-​go-​back places…
