I’ve been here a few times since it’s right next to my school. It’s…good. It’s not… great. And it’s kind of pricey. I do like the fry sauce. If you must go here, make sure you order an «over the top» shake. That’s really what makes the trip worth it. Other than that… well…I guess nothing.

I’m sorry… I have to. I got two burgers in a combo at the drive through. When I got home the fries were so soggy and actually cold. Not room temperature, but cold. Both burgers were lacking in quality and temperature. Keep in mind I live two blocks from Jakes, so it’s not like I went on a ten minute drive before eating. I want to love you Jakes, I do. I have such fond memories of the location in Kaysville but this was pretty bad. The staff was friendly and nice though. I’m not sure what happened, but maybe don’t let the fries sit out for so long? I dunno.

I come here for the shakes. Always great, kids oooh and awe as they come out piled high. The service was fabulous tonight, three big smiling faces all eager to help us pick a flavor. Thanks Jakes!

I love to go here for a nice thick delicious shake. They have good fried chicken and are conveniently located by weber state.

Took two tries and still got my single sandwich order wrong. And what I got was over cooked and rubbery.

Was sorely disappointed with the big jake burger it was dry and not what I remembered. I think the only thing good was the shake. It will be some time before going back if there still in business.

Tons of ice cream combinations, great burgers, and heavenly cheese fries! I also love their fry sauce. Of wait, onion rings with ranch. I can’t decide! An Ogden original!

Jake’s has a delicious dipping sauce/fry sauce that is Mayo and BBQ which sounds disgusting, but is actually amazing. I love the smoky flavor and it reminds me of a few high end Burger joints around. Jake’s also makes your shake and has the ice cream go so high above the rim, that they drop the original cup in an oversized Coca-Cola cup so that it’s more manageable. Don’t allow this to make you feel ripped off because that isn’t the case. They aren’t trying to pull a fast one, they’re trying to keep melted ice cream off your clothes. I love their cheese fries although I think the serving size is quite small for the price. Their prices aren’t terrible but they are pretty high. My wife and I got two regular shakes and an order of their cheese fries with the dipping sauce for over $ 10. So not terrible, but a little high considering the portion sizes. The food tastes amazing and I highly recommend going.

I asked what the sizes were and she showed me. The small was a normal small and the regular was a giant coca-cola cup for an extra .80¢. I went with the larger of the two. When I was threw I noticed a smaller cup inside of the coca-cola cup. I felt jipped and mislead. I will never return.

So named because the shakes are thick and tower over the top of the cup rim, Jake’s Over the Top has the feel of a 50’s soda shop, with the same classic menu of burgers, dogs, floats, and of course shakes. Burgers are juicy and well done but not so great that I would go out of my way for them. But the shakes — so good. We shared a raspberry shake that must be eaten with a spoon because it’s too thick to use a straw. What I especially like are the seeds that give the shake an authentic taste unlike you’ll get at 99% of the competition.
