Dezert Adventures

So easy to spot right off hwy 8 between san diego and phoenix. Always see the action at the dunes but how do you get to join in if you don’t have one? This way! They have the machines and all the gear and you can ride right there on many acres. And you can’t get lost because of the huge windmills. Perfect. They even texted me directions after I called ahead. But the sign is pretty hard to miss
Only an hour and a half from the Escondido area so the kids may well go back between road trips.

I can not express to Mr Kenny Earle how greatful I am for this expirience. me and my older brother rented 2 little ATVS for 2 hours at a great price. Unfortunately through the course, I ended up flipping the bike and broke the left handle bar and warped the left rim pretty bad. Kenny was the least bit worried about the quad and ensured I was ok first and foremost. He even went out of his way to find the most cost effective way for both of us to repair the damages. Its assuring knowing hes not out to make a quick buck or take advantage even after a bad spill. 100% will recommend! Thank you again! –Brazier

My boyfriend and I went yesterday morning for the first time and had a blast. Since it was our first time they were really helpful showing us how to use the quads. The prices were extremely reasonable and they were really friendly. It was only $ 250 to rent 2 Honda 250 ATVs for 4 hours. Since it was our first time that was perfect for us. I definitely recommend this place. You can’t go wrong with the scenery, the prices, and a good time!

Went Thanksgiving 2014 my husband went once by himself in October he came back and said these folks are really nice very reasonable and had a good experience, sure enough all that was true once again… their customer service & a good bunch of friendly folks out there, their very reasonable rates & their quads are in excellent condition. We had a wonderful experience, I recommend them and we look forward to going back to Dezert Adventures. With a Z.

Went there with my friends for bachelor party outing. One of us got injured but we loved it. Will go again soon.

This place was awesome! The people here are so accommodating and helpful. They let us camp near their facility because we were being blown away by the winds and our anniversary campfire was becoming a disaster after chasing our tent through the desert and having dirt blown in our food. Behind the buildings there were hardly any winds and it saved our romantic evening together. The prices are totally reasonable and the stAff is crazy courteous. Will definitely come back and recommend to anyone wanting to come out and ride for a day or two :)

This was a GREAT find! I had a group of friends come in from east coast, and was looking at renting sport bikes, but prices were almost as high as renting an exotic car. ended up looking for ATV’s with this place. What a great deal if you go with a group! the guy was very laid back, took no time at all to start riding! We drove ATV straight off-​road from the rental place! Well worth the $ ! definitely will plan on going back

A co-​worker and I went down to rent 2 buggies. The owners are very friendly and they set us up pretty quickly. They aren’t big clock watchers either so if you are a little over on the time, you’ll be ok. The cost is very reasonable, some rental places charge by the hour, charge for riding equipment by the hour, it can add up fast.
Dezert adventures is flat rate, the best deal is to rent for a half day.
The location is out near Plaster City off Interstate 8 tucked into a small desert town. There’s a area across the street where you can practice riding before heading out into the desert.
The area has many landmarks, but it can take a while to find interesting spots to have fun in if you are not familiar with the region. You can drive by the wind farm they are building about 250 generator fans to the north and west of Ocotillo. The security didn’t bother us, just made sure we were passing through and talked a bit, those fans are huge.
If you are not familiar with the area, I’d recommend the delivery option and have the company drop and pickup the equipment at the Imperial dunes or Ocotillo Wells SVRA, or even Superstition mountain. Keep in mind some of these locations range from a 0.5 to 1.5 hour drive from the rental garage. If you are an experienced desert rider, you can simply drive across the desert in these locations, but if you are doing the tourist thing I’d make it easy on yourself.
We had a great time, now the reason why I didn’t give this place 5 stars.
The ATV’s/Quads/Bike are fairly new and well maintained, that seems to be their most popular rental.
The sand cars we rented [VW Chenowth and another VW based buggy] were in rougher shape, more raw and mad max. It didn’t bother us, but I can see it being a problem for anyone who is not experienced. The vehicles performed fine, but the brakes weren’t working 100% and some of the restraint harnesses were very worn.
In fairness, it was summer when we went, which is slow season. Many people don’t want to ride in the desert in 110–120 °F heat, I’ve seen several newer buggies there under maintenance, so I suspect they were prepping the other buggies for the busy fall season.
Other than that its a great experience.

These guys are awesome.
My husband and I wanted to take our 15 year old to play around in dune buggies over spring break. We were near Palm Springs and at first we found a company out of Palm Springs (not dezert adventures) that said we would have to have a guide drive us and would not let us drive them ourselves, in fact, they lied and told us that we would have to go all the way to Oregon if we wanted to drive them ourselves.
I continued searching and found Dezert Adventures and we drove two hours south to rent. Small business, seems family owned, on the edge of miles and miles of dunes and trails. It was easy, quick and reasonably priced, the guys got us out and playing right away. We rented for half a day and got a bit lost on our way back, they noticed and sent someone out to guide us back! Very fun and very cool. Highly recommend these guys!
