The Paintball Park at Camp Pendleton

Great park even though it is limited on fields. Had a blast here multiple times, I’m very glad they have this park for us military guys! The employees are very professional and the repair guy that works there is literally the best. He has fixed my gun on multiple occasions free of charge. Definitely recommend anyone who wants to try their first time or even just want to paintball in general to give this park a go! 5 stars all the way!

I wish I got the names of the marines or gentlemen that were running the different activities Saturday at the Mud Run at around early afternoon. These men were very hands on, fun, interactive, and professional with my daughter. These guys took their time to help all the kids that participated and I was astounded by their love for what they do. It was very appreciated by people of all ages around watching. It was a secure safe zone that resulted in an eagerness to come back and play again! I also appreciate that on the tree climb, my 10 year old got to the top, rung the buzzer, but was having a fun filled time that she forgot to smile for a picture at the top. The young man working at the tree clim was so sweet and told my daughter she could do it again so her mom could take a picture I was beyond tickled pink that he allowed me to be a mother and remanence on creating that one special memory with my child. Thank you to a very nice young man. We will be back because of you all working together and creative such an awesome and fun place to spend a few hours!
Another older gentlemen (around my age– 40 ish) was at the big jumpy obstacle course and as I watched him interact with every child that participated, it was clear he loved what he does and wanted all the kids to enjoy themselves. This man laughed and playfully joked with a little boy. He was certainly funny and also fun to watch. I have no doubt he brings in a lot of continued business due to him awesome attitude and characteristics he brings out to others and the environment.
Thank you and much respect goes out to everyone who helped bring this together especially at events as I know that may be difficult at times to get everyone together around schedules in order to make it happen!

Really fun today we want there for a birthday party and had the best time! The kids played for a couple hours and loved it! And when we where out of time they let us play one more game!

Took a bunch of 14 year olds up there for a bday party. I specifically asked several times about making sure they didn’t get put up against a bunch of pro players/​marines with combat training. I was assured it wouldn’t happen. Of course it did. I had to get the boys switched around a few times. The guns went down slot too. If you’re gun broke, you couldn’t simply step out, get it fixed and get back in the game. They wouldn’t let you. You had to wait until the next rotation. The refs waste ALOT of time. I spent over $ 600 but really don’t feel like we got our money’s worth. At the end of the day, they drug their feet a bunch and then cut the boys game short so they could close on time. The boys had a good time overall but as I’m the one paying, we’ll go somewhere else next time.

We brought our 15 year old and 7 of his friends for his birthday party. None of them have ever been to a paintball part. The whole experience was a blast and will definitely return for seconds. The staff was wonderful and courteous. All in all great experience. the pricing was very fair. All their equipment was top notch and well maintained. Any issues we had was addressed immediately by the staff. A well organized place.

AIRSOFT REVIEW:
I’ve been coming out consistently for the past year and a half so I’m long due for a review of this place.
Camp Pendleton’s paintball park has ONE dedicated airsoft field with the option to play on the other paintball fields if they’re available (obviously paintball groups have priority on their own fields). The airsoft field itself is basically one big lane with two big «spawn houses» along with a bunch of small one room buildings, stables, a humvee, trucks, and a trailer towards the end of the field. There isn’t a whole lot of room for lateral movement so the map can be somewhat predictable at times for those that play there often, I personally enjoy the field since it’s always forcing me to change the way I maneuver.
If you’re looking for really big games you probably won’t find it at CP. Saturdays are usually pretty consistent with about 20 – 35 players, I don’t go on Sundays very often but it tends to be a little less than Saturdays. I personally prefer games in the 10v10 to 15v15 groups so it doesn’t bother me much.
There are a few dedicated refs for airsoft, all of whom are great. You have Marc, Lyle, Kirkland, and a couple other guys whose names I can’t remember (sorry :\). One of those guys are usually reffing airsoft games but if you have the misfortune of being stuck with a paintball ref you might have to take the initiative to get games going or else risk sitting around waiting 30 minutes between games.
The best part about the park would have to be the community. Camp Pendleton doesn’t get as many players on the weekends compared to the other bigger fields but there are small groups of regulars who come out. I can confidently say that pretty much all of the regulars aren’t douchebags and are a lot of fun to play with, I’ve played in pretty much every field in the San Diego area, LA, and also up in the Bay Area and the best experience I’ve had by far has been at Camp Pendleton in large part due to its community.
TL;DR
Field: Ok, not really suited for big games but lots of fun for 10v10 to 15v15
Staff: Dedicated airsoft refs are great, paintball refs won’t really care that much
Community: Really good

I will start with the negatives of this review. I went here almost a year ago, sometime in December. I came to airsoft, not paintball. This was my second time playing at a field, and I was excited for a good day. I went with a friend and we finally arrived after a long drive. I got out, went to the front desk, and unloaded my gear. I paid for entry, and went in the direction I was given. I arrived at the top of the stairs and walked onto the tables before the field. From the videos I watched online, there were airsoft refs, and it looked nice. When I was there, on a Saturday, there was 4 kids there. And not a SINGLE airsoft ref in sight. I introduced myself and after looking at their guns, I realized I was definitely under powered. I played regardless. We had to orchestrate our own match because there were no refs. These kids were cheaters and thieves. When I was done playing at the end of the day, I noticed my $ 200 gas blow back pistol was missing. I confronted the kid and he said he didn’t know anything about it. I found it poking out of the side of his bag and told him if I ever see him try to pull something like that again i’ll call the cops. I left the field and I knew I wouldn’t come back.
Some positives: Nice field and nice resting area. Would probably not return due to the bad experience though.

Camp Pendleton’s paintball park was a great spot to play and well ran by the employees. Safety was the highest priority, guns were spot checked, players/​refs were fair, rules were enforced, and everyone seemed to enjoy the various fields. I wasn’t thrilled about the issue of getting on base but that’s to be expected when you have a paintball park on a military installation. I also thought the «gun hit» rule was ridiculous, but it didn’t cause too much of an issue. I recommend this spot for new and experienced players alike. My son and I play at this park almost twice a month and we must say we have never been disappointed. We made the mistake of playing at another park today in Corona and quickly discovered that Pendleton is by far one of the better run paintball parks in all of Southern California…
Great staff, well organized, gun techs are always helpful, and you will get a great amount of games in.

Was a little intimidated to see armed guards on our approach. It is an army base, after all! That feeling quickly went away when maybe a hundred kids can be spotted on the groups, prepping for their next splatmaster game. Luckily the kids are well behaved. The staffs made sure we we’re well segregated, and we never got in each other’s way.
This was the first time we went paintballing in maybe a decade. A local player took us under his wings after hearing that we’re new, even lending us a loaner gun when mine broken down. Gregarious patrons like him really made getting back into paintball a pleasant experience.
It was an wonderful afternoon. If every player and staff are this friendly at Pendleton, I’m definitely back in this sport!

This place is a blast ! it can get expensive if you buy the paint there but is all day fun. We went with a group of 53 people, 26 were the kids from my sons football team and the rest were parents and siblings. We had fun shooting the crap out of each other all day. I enjoyed it so much we bought some used guns and went back the following weekend. We will be coming back here for sure and bringing new people in

Terrible staff. Very rude. Kicked me off for doing noting illegal. Me and my friend flanked. And we got kicked off for that. We even went out. Just poor referee staff. They got in our face and started yelling at us. And just said okay were leaving while he cussed us out. Just terrible staff. We don’t even know what we did wrong. he would even talk to us just cussing and telling us to get out off the field your kicked off. Very unprofessional.

Really disappointed in the halloween event they do. My boyfriend and his friends went last year and had a blast so they decided to go again this year and I went too. It was an insanely long wait, almost 2 hours, for 15 minutes in a small area with 5 zombies. My boyfriend said it was way bigger and better the previous year. You pay 30 dollars for two attractions but after waiting in one line for 2 hours we didn’t really want to get back in line for a second time. We paid for extra paintballs and didn’t even get to use them. There were so few zombies to shoot at we just started shooting buildings and the ground. Very much a waste of a Saturday night. Will definitely not go back. I would have given one star but the employees were very nice.

Hands down best date night EVER! We did the haunted zombie ride and the trail, the trail was a blast! The ride was fun too, but not as exciting as the trail… I felt like I was in a video game, shooting zombies in the head… TIP: get in the front of the pack, first pick at Zombies, oh and buy the extra ammo! If you are thinking about going, DO IT! So worth it.

Park was cool. People were friendly. Most of the teams let me shoot with them no biggie.
No outside byop fee a huge plus. Makes the trip worth while.
Four fields for speedball. Awesome. Havent tried the woodsball fields yet, but i have a feeling im going to need to do that asap. Probably going to check that out halloween weekend.
Here are my issues:
Not enough refs.
No water available besides in the pro shop.
Needs more shade in the staging area for hot days.
Tournament Field Pro shop closed early.
Fields were deflating through the day and no one filled them back up.
There was a clinic going on and they took one field for themselves, then took over the only other fully inflated one once theirs deflated.
Some people wont let you shoot with them if they are on a team.
The airball fields need better signs. When you arrive you need to drive through the woodsball area a little.
Overall, it is the best airball park in the area as far as variety of fields and accessable to everyone. I just wish it was a little more walk on friendly. Everyone deserves to be able to play even if they dont have a team. Wish it was a little more regulated by the staff to make everything fair. All in all…

I went yesterday with a group of girls for a bachelorette party and we had a blast. The employees were really nice and accommodating to a group of ²⁵⁄₃₀ year olds dressed up in old prom style dresses to play paint ball. Mitchell was in charge of our group and poor guy had to put up with us for a couple hours but he didn’t get frustrated and was cool enough to capture the afternoon on our camera. Will be making a trip back down in the near future!

So sad, a huge FAIL! Now I’m in a fight with Living Social to get my moolah refunded. I bought the pricey Living Social deal for «Haunted Grounds» with mazes, zombie shooting, hay rides, etc. We drove from home on our Saturday night scream-​fest date night, arrived and got in line for #1 on the «hit parade», the Zombie Paint Shoot. Little did we know as we entered the old wooden cattle-​type stalls — line, that our wait would be so long!
We finished our 15 minute or so approximate time shooting paintballs at zombies at 11:30 p.m. Wait time, about 3 hours. Priceless and am I going to get my money back?
Miscellaneous: Unfriendly bitchy zombie bride controlling the penned-​up crowd, giving out useless information. Upfront management who said they could not return money and I’d have to go thru Living Social, meanwhile they are telling people buying tickets that it is approximately 1 hour wait. Ha! Old rusty nails sticking out of wood in pens, are your shots up to date?! A whopping 4 – 6 zombies, that just move from spot to spot, wherein you spend a quarter of your time waiting and moving to shoot the zombies. We don’t need no stinking restrooms! The paintball park has stinking port-​a-​potties! Literally stinking. I almost got sick attempting to go into one. This was a «scare» that was free I guess.
I also overheard the zombies are Marines, not paid, they volunteer. So thank you for your service (s), both.
I’m still wanting to shoot somebody (with a paintball of course) because I’m so mad at spending over $ 80 for 2 tickets of a huge waste of time.
Overall, it’s extra sad because this did have potential to be super-​fun, but very poor set up and poor management really created a horrible experience.

There were plenty of issues with this event starting with the location. Forget about any GPS system (including the Unilocal app) … they all fail miserably! We didn’t discover this issue until we were actually on Vandegrift (Guess we should have taken up the gate guard on his offering of directions) and we needed to call the park to get proper directions. If you are going to the park, stay on Vandegrift until you pass a Dominos Pizza and keep driving about a half mile until you see a dirt lot (Don’t wash you car before coming here) with a bunch of small buildings on the right.
Once we were parked, a staff member directed us to the waiver /​ticket (
) line. The waiver is a pretty standard and once my better half presented her Living Social deals, we were given tickets for 2 Group A activities and 1 Group B activity. After a bit of a disagreement about wanting to do the activity where we can shoot at each other (C’mon you know you want to shoot your significant other!), we headed for the Zombie Hunt Paintball Trail line. While walking to the line, we took a look at some of the Halloween décor:

And this where things really start to go downhill and disorganization begins! The biggest problem was they didn’t have enough volunteers (Yes … zombies are volunteers and U. S. Marines) for the amount of people wanting to do the trail. There were also private parties being given front of the line privileges which backed the line up even further. The wait for the better half and I was from about 7:45 pm until we were loaded onto a hay trailer and taken to the Zombie Trail location at 10:45 pm. One disturbing feature about the fencing the line was in (
) was several loose and exposed nails.
While we were waiting in line, my loving wife went and spoke to the manager. Since we had paid for addition activities we were not going to be able to use, Laina wanted a refund. Unfortunately, all the manager could do as mark the voucher as unused and Laina will have to attempt to get her money back through Living Social. Another issue while we were waiting was the port-​a-​potties hadn’t been emptied in a significant amount of time making it impossible to utilize them without a gas mask!
Finally it was our turn to be driven to the trail. Once we arrived, you are handed a mask and air gun. You are given instructions on how to hold, aim and fire the air gun for those who are not familiar with the weapon. Next you are given a safety brief:
1. Don’t aim at anyone not wearing a mask. («You’ll shoot an eye out!»)
Rohlinism: Paint balls traveling at 300 feet per second and eyes don’t mix!
2. Zombies are only killed by head and chest shots. No shooting zombies between the legs ladies … I don’t care if he did break your heart!
3. Don’t shoot zombies when they are down. Shooting dead zombies will cause them all to rise again (and give you a beat down).
4. Don’t shoot other hunters (Damn I really wanted to shoot the wife)!
The trail itself takes about 15 to 20 minutes to clear as you are guided through a number of buildings with zombies appearing at various places with a hunger for brains! Do to a shortage of zombies, once you passed a certain area, the zombies would rise and attack you at the next location. There was about four encounters on the trail and the terrain is a little rough, so watch your step especially at night.
The «zombies» did a good job of reacting to shots which were «non-​fatal» and those that were fatal:

The trail was fun and with some tweaks it could be a great event, but until then I will do my zombie hunting elsewhere!

I can feel my bruises coming back as I type this. This place rules. I came here for a half day with a large group of friends and had a (paint)ball. See what I did there?
This place has great service and provides non-​stop fun on a number of different fields. If you’re new to paintball, yeah… it hurts. And there’s always that asshole of a friend on the other team that shoots you when you are already out and walking to base with your hands up (I know who you are, jerk). Prices were reasonable. I even upgraded my gun (I’ve played Call of Duty before, trust me, I need any help I can get shooting).
Keep in mind, it can get reeeeally hot here if the sun is out. Bring water (they sell water as well).
