I’ve always had the entrepreneur bug. I guess I inherited it from my dad.

I’ve also enjoyed being around children.

So, I set out to create a children’s salon, since there were none that catered to children in our area,

With the help of my husband Felix (a graphic designer) we put together

«The Little Clippers» salon. A place designed especially for kids.

We’ve also created a SPA for tweens opening Dec. 2015

A place they than call their own. Diva-​licious.

Kim was patient and so fun during our toddler’s first haircut this weekend. The place is adorable, the staff friendly, and Kim was very knowledgeable about our sons very curly hair. We purchased the first haircut package which came with a certificate, lock of hair, and picture. Totally worth it. I would definitely go back and recommend this place to my mommy pals.

We have been coming here for a year now. I must say that Kim is a hair ninja! My son HATES to have his hair cut. He cries the whole time and Kim is so kind and patient. She is able to give him a perfect haircut even with him wiggling the whole time. A++++

We had been going to the little clippers for over a year and loved it. However, last Sunday we had a 9:30 appointment for my 2 year old son. We were right down the block at 9:34 when I got a call and was told that we could no longer come. I hate to be late, but since it was under 5 min I pleaded with the girl that sometimes things happen especially with a child. I said we would gladly wait if next client was there and that my sons haircut takes all of 5 min (we were about to turn in the parking lot at this point) and the receptionist said no. I called the owner first thing the next time they were open to explain the rude service and she apologized and that was that. I was not looking for anything for free, but you would think that a children’s salon would be more accommodating and the owner would offer to make it up to us for traveling for 20 minutes only to be turned away. We will not be going back there again due to the horrible customer service and I hope no one else has to have that experience.

Not just for kids…
I can’t wait to tell you about my experience at Little Clippers. So, I was in a bit of hurry and in need of a fresh cut. Naturally, since I’m from out of town (Austin, Texas — eat your heart out), I consulted Unilocal.I found Little Clippers but was a little concerned when I approached because it appeared to be a kids’ place. I walked in and was greeted by two very nice young ladies and inquired whether they take big boys like me. They assured me that they could handle my big head and even the overgrown lumberjack beard. I was assigned to Kim. Of course she’s a licensed, highly competent stylist, but I don’t think it’s exaggerating to say that she’s more of an artist, a sculptor coiffure, if you will, on par with Donatello or perhaps even Bernini. Now, I’ve always been (semi)good-looking, but I walked out there looking like Clooney — no, better than Clooney. It hardly seems fair to the ladies at this point. Kim is just that damn good, people. So, head into Little Clippers, even if you’re a big girl or a big boy. I know I’ll be going back and I’ll be taking my 10 kids.

Love this place, kim did a great job on my sons curly hair, place is great and accommodating to children, although i wish the prices were a little lower for toddlers simple little trims, maybe a baby /​toddler price & older child cut price would be a good idea, but i still recommend this place! Lollipops & balloons after! Gymboree & smoothies right next door could make it a fun day for the little ones who hate haircuts :)

Would give no stars if I could for the fact that the lady at the front desk (today) is nasty and rude! Love Kim and how she was with my son for his first hair cut, but just lost a customer (2bc I have two kids) due to the lack of customer service. #ontothenext

This Place is a Keeper!
On the recommendation of a friend, I brought my very active twin grandsons to The Little Clippers for hair cuts. They got awesome haircuts from Pat and Maritza and had an awesome time playing with the X-​Box! They keep asking me when are we going back!
This is now our «Hair Cut Station»!

Stylist absolutely butchered my sons beautiful long «surfer» hair when we went in for a TRIM. It’s choppy and uneven. When I expressed my dissatisfaction the young receptionist told me «not to worry, it will grow back». Other stylist agreed it was a horrible haircut and tried to fix but not much you can do until it regrows out again. So upsetting and disappointing as I have gone there for a long time. If you have a new stylist that doesn’t know how to cut long boys hair then don’t. And the kicker, they charged me! Horrible business practices and terrible nonchalant attitude. I would suggest they ditch the inexperienced kids in the front that made it worse with they snarky inconsiderate comments and consider another role for the tragic stylist that ruined my baby’s hair.
As a response to owners Felix — you were not there when I brought my son back to have Kim try and fix. Your receptionist (young ladies, even though they were rude) agreed Liam got a terrible hair cut. Why you would even consider saying his hair looked great is really questionable of your expectations of your business. Shameful. And while I try not to name names you’d be better dealing with your problem stylist.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CHILDREN HERE!!!
I recently purchased a Groupon to take my daughter for a nice relaxing mani/​pedi. Instead we had an incompetent nail technician that DESTROYED my daughters nails. She clipped every nail SO extremely short to the point my daughters fingers were all nearly bleeding. I was horrified!!! She started to cry and when i realized what was happening– I immediately freaked out and asked to talk to the manager who was nooooo help! Her response «Oh she wasn’t supposed to cut her nails» and that was it! Got her and bandaid and was unapologetic. And the technician blamed it all on the «clipper being bad» excuse me?! Why do you have «Bad Clippers» here I was thinking I was taking my daughter for a nice day at the salon and was also coming with the intent of booking a girls birthday party!!! FORGET THAT!!! The Manager didn’t offer me a refund either! How ridiculous ! After my daughters fingers were completely irritated and painful. She plays violin and her winter concert is approaching and now she can’t even play. I’m so infuriated. Horrible customer service. And horrible nail technician. Do not come here– do not waste your money on a place that takes no responsibility for mistakes and lacks any common business sense. I will never be back!

First time at Little Clippers was great. Second time (different stylist) wasn’t as lovely but I gave them another chance. This past time was terrible and stressful.
I had the stylist in training the last two times, Maritza or something. I wasn’t in love with my toddler’s cut last time but this time takes the cake. I told the“stylist” the way i wanted my daughter’s hair cut. Stylist nodded in agreement. I’m watching the stylist cut it in a completely different way than I asked. When I questioned her, she told me the cut we wanted wouldn’t work. Ok then. My daughter’s hair was now completely uneven as well. I mentioned that to the stylist and she just kept cutting it shorter and shorter in a failed attempt to even it out. Finally, I was so frustrated that I went to the front desk and asked Kim to fix it.
Kim cut my daughter’s hair exactly how I requested. Although, after all the hacking Maritza did, it was now much shorter than we wanted. Fortunately hair grows back.
Also fortunately, I can take my daughter to an actual salon next time. I would rather have peace of mind and experienced stylists than stress and kiddie cars… all for the same price.
Word of advice is to request your stylist upon booking your appointment.

Wonderful experience. The staff was amazing with my 2 year old daughter, so kind and fun, even when she was starting to get fussy. The barber chairs are cars, what kid wouldn’t like that? TVs in front of each station when a distraction is needed. And when it was done, she received a «first haircut» certificate, with a ribbon of her hair and her picture attached. Love this place!

My husband and I had been planning for this day for over a year; our son’s first haircut. My husband wanted a barber shop experience, I wanted my mother to «take a little off the top.» Since my husband was convinced that my mother would cut an ear off, we both agreed on «Little Clippers.» I cannot say enough good things about this decision. Kim did an amazing job and listened exactly to my requests. She was professional, warm, and somehow managed to perfectly cut my sons hair, even though he was spinning around the chair like the exorcist. We went with the «surfer» look, and my little boy looked cuter than ever. The First Hair Cut package was a great idea. A picture, locks of hair, and a little certificate to add to our box of memories. We just went back to Kim today for our son’s second haircut and again, a great cut. Also, both times we called last minute and the owner was extremely accommodating and friendly when making the appointment!

Best place for kids’ haircuts!!! My kids LOVE this The Little Clippers and look forward to getting their hair cut (unusual for boys and quite an achievement!!!) Maritza has cut my sons’ hair with great skill and kindness for two years. At ages 5 & 6, they are highly energetic and have graduated from the «police car» to the X-​Box. The owner is warm, welcoming and sensitive to the needs of kids and moms. We visit my parents in Long Beach every 3 weeks or so, and one of our first stops is The Little Clippers!!! Highly recommended!!! Jack and Bill love the balloons they get after each cut! Thanks to The Little Clippers and Maritza, other moms have often complimented my boys’ nicely groomed hair!

This place is awesome. I made an appointment the same day on a Sunday. I just called and asked what time they had available. I’m going back for the second time this weekend. I called ahead for an appt.
Clean, friendly and fun atmosphere for the little ones. I think its a bit pricey for a child haircut but then again we only go once every couple of months. Maritza cut my son’s VERY curly hair. She did a perfect job and is super sweet and great with kids. I’m so glad I found this place for my angel’s precious curls!

Little Clippers is clean, kid-​friendly and focused, and affordable! Found it by accident while in their shopping plaza, walked in on a Saturday and they were able to accommodate my son for a haircut right then and there. Tried to walk in on a Sunday, but it was booked and packed. Make an appointment! The woman who cut my son’s hair was extremely friendly and patient (my son was 9 months at the time) and the cut was great. She asked for feedback during the cut, if we wanted it cut more, or that sort. He got a balloon at the end and had fun sitting in the police car to get his haircut. They also have tvs in front of each station, which I think will help distract my now 1 yr old son during his upcoming haircut. Cut was about $ 17, which I think is a fair price for dealing with a squirmy child while using scissors and a buzzer! Give them a try for your child, you wont be disappointed! What’s not to love?! They even advertise cuts for mom and dad, which I haven’t tried, but is def convenient if you want to get family cuts all in one spot.

My husband and I came here on Aug 22, 2014 for our first time for our son’s first haircut (a friend recommended this place to us). The store is decorated nicely, clean & tidy, & very colorful and cute little cars for them to sit in when they get their hair done. They even gave my son a balloon after his haircut =). I love the fact that this place accommodates not only kids but adults! I gave it 4 of 5 stars b/​c after reading the reviews, I came to find that this store offers a rewards card and I was not offered one when I went yesterday. Also when the girl at the front desk was filling out my son’s first haircut certificate she spelled his name wrong, not once, but twice even though i kept telling her how to spell his name. Overall, it was a nice friendly environment.

Also — note that they have a «rewards card» where for every 10 haircut you get one free. Make sure you get yours — we missed 2 because we didn’t know they had until this past weekend we went and the receptionist offered it to us. My son also got a balloon at the end of the haircut as well.

My little girl and I were both due for a haircut. I haven’t had time to get one in months and while she was getting her hair cut by Debbie this time — Olivia, the owner, was telling me that the back room is no longer for parties, but for moms who also want to get their hair cut.
WHAT A GENIUS IDEA!!!
I took a good look at my horrible split ends and figured i’d give it a whirl. Luckily, Debbie had time before her next appt to give me an AWESOME HAIRCUT. I am used to going to very upscale hair salons and she actually gave me a kick ass haircut and did it quickly. I couldn’t believe it. While Deb cut my hair, my daughter got her nails done and my son played with toy trains and watched Disney Jr. I’m usually scared to try new hairstylists. I’m very loyal to mine and my hair is so thick and not easy to cut, but I just had to try this and I couldn’t be happier that I did. Not only did I get a great haircut, it was a cool mother/​daughter bonding experience. If anyone reading this is skeptical to let your kids hairdresser cut your hair, think again. Deb was great and I’ll definitely be doing this again.

This place is fantastic. I have been bringing my son here since he turned 1, his first official haircut. They gave him a certificate, a piece of his hair and a picture. We prefer to see Kim, she is amazing. Always treats my son with respect an is very friendly. The boys cut is $ 18 and they give you a punch card to earn a free cut. We will continue to visit this location they keep the salon clean and fun!

I planned a party for my Boyfriend’s daughter this past Saturday. From the very beginning the owner, Olivia, was very sweet and accommodating. She insisted I visit the store before I put my deposit down to make sure I liked the space. When I visited the space I was shocked at how beautiful the layout was. It was beautifully designed and decorated. I made a few special requests during my planning visit and she remembered all of my requests during the confirmation call.
On the day of the party we were running seriously behind schedule. The manager of the store called us to check up on us. We were supposed to arrive at 1 pm and the party was supposed to last until 2:30 pm. We arrived at 2 pm and was told they would extend the party until 2:45. They extended the party way beyond our scheduled time, until 4 pm. We were given more than enough time to enjoy our party. The kids were provided with make overs, glitter tattoos and plenty of music to dance to.
At the end of the party when I approached the manager to pay, I was told the owner took $ 130 off of our bill because half of our party showed up.
This establishment was way more than expected and met all my expectations.

I have been desperate to get my 3 ½ year old son a haircut who was traumatized by an experience with a buzzer. He also has some sensory issues and absolutely hates getting his hair wet, combed or cut. Walked into Sharkey’s and we had success! Kim and Kiley were absolutely wonderful, sensitive to his issues, extremely patient and friendly and went out if their way to make it a fun experience! They were able to distract him with a fun game of squirting water from a spray bottle at each other and I now have a bunch of photos of my son laughing and smiling while getting his haircut! I can’t thank Kim and Kiley enough. I will DEFINITELY be bringing my son back there for his next haircut!!!
