Sunset View

Horrible, the air conditioning/​heating vent was completely covered in black mold! Had not been changed in years, if you live there or planing to move in check them out. Rat droppings everywhere, I got so sick. Thankfully they let me out of my lease.

Great experience overall. Everything we were looking for in an apartment. After selling our home. We had trouble finding a truly pet friendly apartment, and Sunset View was a perfect fit for us and our pets. Our unit had a washer dryer and a small fenced back yard for our dog to roam in and out of the apartment which was great. They even had an enclosed dog park, so my dog was able to play freely with his friends without being on the leash. The grounds had doggy bag stations in various areas that was always restocked as needed, Wow!
The grounds were clean and felt safe. Sunset View even had security patrols at night. Both the pool and jacuzzi were clean and we used them often. There was a barbeque in the pool area that we took advantage of a few times as well.
Both the Sunset View leasing and maintenance staff were very nice and professional. There were a couple of things that came up over our 1 year stay, and they had things fixed immediately. Roberto worked with me to solve a few small problems, and he was always positive and helpful which made me think that he really cared about us and our comfort during our stay (which is rare, right?)
Marta in the leasing office went above and beyond to help us feel at home right away. She is so positive and helpful to the point of even helped us find a home for our cats due to us moving out of state because we did not want to traumatize our pets that we had for over 12 years. After being around Marta for the last year, she has become a good friend. We will truly miss her.
During the final inspection, things did not change. Roberto and Andrew checked out the apartment and did not nickle and dime us which was a nice way to leave things.
As you can see, we were happy during our stay and would return to Sunset View if we move back to Oceanside in the future.

After a 6 month lease and a final move out inspection, I still highly recommend Sunset View. As long as Marta and Roberto are still there, I am very confident and stand by my review and updates. They are absolutely great property and maintanance managers. This apartment complex stayed consistent all the way to my final inspection!
The week before our move, I deep cleaned the difficult areas (tub, stove mostly.) after the apartment was clear, I came in on the day of my final inspection to clean for 4 hours. Top to bottom style. I felt like the place was spotless. When the Maintanance man came by for the final inspection, he did a thorough job inspecting the apartment. He was very courteous in making sure I felt like I was ready for the inspection by coming by to tell me how I was doing and offering to move the inspection to later in the day if I needed more time. Very, very nice! Roberto told me exactly what I needed to do to pull off not getting charged for a professional clean when he stopped by that morning. I liked that… I hate that your final inspection can feel like a toss up and you have no clue what their standard is going to be until it’s too late.
Anyway, I cleaned to their standard and I passed! They pulled up the carpet during the final inspection, which I was surprised to see. I’ve never had a landlord do that before. I actually really appreciated that as a tenant… You know you’re getting a clean, well taken care of apartment here at Sunset View. They take such good care of the grounds and amenities… I should have known they were great with inspections, too.
I am kind of pissed that I have to compare future property managers to them… No one will ever come close to their professionalism and competence in their jobs.
Sunset View Apartment Homes is worth checking out. Put it on your list!

Topped by last week to check out this location as our next future home. This location is actually very nice, nestled up the hill. This seemed like a great option as it’s even closer to my job which would have made it easy to walk/​bike to work if need be.
Meeting with the Apartment Consultant Ashley was a breeze. She was able to fit me in to see the apartments same day which was great.
The apartment complex is a small complex and what seemed to be super resident friendly. Everyone I saw was happy and smiling and talking to each other.
I was originally going there to look for the 2bd 2bth apartment but unfortunately I was able to view the inside of this floor plan. I was however able to view the 2bd 1bth to get a feel for the apartment features. This is where everything just doesn’t fit our style. Don’t get me wrong they are nice apartments but when you walk through the first apartment and everything feels contested. In the kitchen I noticed right away the doors were off tilt, the cut out for the appliances were slanted and off and to top it off there is no inside coat closet… What??? Where do I put my vacuum and useless junk?
The pool and spa area were really nice and perfect spot to catch some rays. The inside gym is ok, if you wanna call it a gym, for a super small apartment complex but the $ 10 Planet Fitness a mile down the street is far better.
Other than the so so apartments I really didn’t like the «matrix» system of pricing for rentals. So if I rent today it’s 1740 tomorrow is 1750 and in 2 weeks it’s 1790 etc etc… Then to top that off your required to pay a $ 30 carport fee… Why not just make it into the rental price? I just thought it was funny cause it’s not really mentioned like that online.
So to cap it off pricing not competitive for the Oceanside area, apartment layout not the greatest but the people and location are nice.

The apartment itself was ok for the price. However, I experienced bad customer service at the end of my lease. I asked for a walk through, but never got one. I knew that I would only be living for six months months while we decided on a house, so I asked all the appropriate questions to ensure that I would receive my deposit back. In the end, we never received our deposit back and we’re charged for some sort of lawn fee for our extremely small patio area. I cleaned the apartment from top to bottom (it was even cleaner then when I moved in), and yet I was still charged for cleaning fees. Had I known the fee was inevitable, then I would not have put in any effort. I think that if the lady would have been honest with me about the fees that I was charged in our initial conversation, then it wouldn’t have been as big of a deal. I just feel like she could have told me that most of my deposit would not be refunded. Disappointing!!!

It was decent and cheap
Only con was that I lived next door to a nosey neighbor
Who complained about the way I threw my trash in the dumpster (weird)
And my ex fiancé and I had cig smoke come into our master bedroom through the vent
But we used an air purifier that helped. I wouldn’t move back
But it wasn’t a horrible experience. It’s a nice location
And quiet here
