Oceanside Golf Course

Course is nice. Employees not so much. Over heard employees at sandwich shop making fun of golfers. Not very friendly filks.

This side of Oceanside is far along highway 76, you pass the old swap meet and the airfield for small airplanes & helicopters. Away from the tourist side, but close enough to the beaches. Beautiful views of green hills and not far from the city of Vista.

Heard they had done a lot of work to this course over the last 12 months and was convinced it was worth trying out.
Booked a threesome for Sunday 8 a.m. through GolfNow for $ 48 a person, which came with a cart and range balls. The driving range mats are a little worn, but the practice putting green was great.
The course was fairly empty for an early Sunday morning. Our tee time was for 8 a.m. but they told us the course was open and we were free to tee off whenever we were ready. It was definitely a change of pace to have no group ahead or behind of you, which made for a fun round for me and my buddies. We played the round in 4 hours. Overall, the course is great for a municipal course. The tee boxes and fairways were in good condition, but the greens were surprisingly immaculate. Actually, the greens were on the same level as Grand Del Mar, which is a $ 250 round for non members course. The rough wasn’t luscious, thick grass, but more of spotty unkempt grass.
For us +18 handicappers out there, the course was fun because it wasn’t too challenging. Having played some of the tougher courses in the county the last few weeks, it was a welcomed break to play a course where all you have to do is make straight forward shots to shoot a good round. There were only, I’d say, 2 holes where you scratched your head wondering what the course designer was thinking. And as I already mentioned, the greens were awesome.
Overall, a good place for a round if you’re wanting to venture away from your home courses. This course is what you’d get if you mixed Chula Vista municipal with Twin Oaks. I’ll definitely be back again.

I played this course for the first time a couple of weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised, so I cam back a week later. It was even in better condition. I always heard bad things, but I believe they really have turned it around into a decent course. Also love the fact you can get a last minute tee time online for cheaper on their website. I will play again.

I played golf with my uncle this Sunday. I paid for both of us, and it was 85.00 for two people. As we approached hole 10 or eleven two men drove past us and proceeded to play ahead of us making us wait for them. We took offense to this and called them out only to hear“fu*k you”, we said f*ck us, no Fu*k you. The general manager drive over to us as he was playing golf with some friends. He comes over threatening us because we are bothering the group ahead of us. Mind you the group is not supposed to be ahead of us. After we tried telling this garbage man, Shawn or Steve whatever this fat pathetic losers name was and I couldn’t believe he told me if I didn’t like it he would escort me off the course. I rolled my eyes at him knowing he was gonna do no such thing. He needs to pull his head out of his ass and take care of the two man crew who thinks they own the course and can make other people wait then if like to of seen him try and throw me off the course. His professionalism was obviously not present this day or others. I work for the stone Corps and have heard other stories of this guy.
I golf every week, and I will never, ever come back. The general manager who can’t contain his own friends on the course that didn’t even pay and threaten customers because he favors his old local buddies. I say with all the options in San Diego, it’s no wonder why this course has 2 stars out of five and that’s because most people were generous. Thanks and please consider your money, your experience and unless you want to be threatened don’t bother going here. Try San Marcos, Escondido, and vista before this dilapidated course with a piss poor manager if you can call him that.

I’ve played this course several times and intend to continue playing this course weekly. It is a muni course with several challenging holes. Right now there is a water shortage, and the fairways are dry in places. But the greens are in good shape and the staff are very friendly. I generally play mid week, so it is not that crowed. While the water hazards are low now, the remaining reeds pose every bit the opportunity to lose a ball even with little water. Overall, you can’t beat the price. It is good value for your money. If it is crowded on the weekend play somewhere that you can get on without a wait. Good Luck finding that place.

This is a great course for the price! Coming from AZ with all the over-​priced golf, it’s a pleasure to play a course with some challenges for a real decent price. Plenty of par 5’s and tricky course design to test your skills. Course is good but the people there are fantastic! Special thanks to KEVIN who went way beyond to help us out when we locked our keys in our car.
If you’re in the Oceanside area, would definitely recommend this course. Hands above any other reasonably priced non-​private course in the area.

Pretty decent shape and not crowed during the week. Great price for senior residents of Oceanside. Will play again for sure.

Whiners? Pffftt.
I’ll put it this way, if you don’t mind teeing off an hour after your scheduled tee time to play a 7 hour round on a poorly maintained golf course with 3 group backups on every hole, then by all means, Oceanside Golf Course is for you.
And don’t forget, if you criticize them on Unilocal,the friendly staff will respond by calling you a girl and a whiner. No charge for that… that one’s a freebie.

O-​side muni is an OK course, but nothing to get excited about. The course is full of beaten up fairways, neglected rough, olds with pull carts and side-​by-​side fairways. It also has a good amount of charm with some clever hole designs, a nice super elevated tee box on a par 3, and a nice series of finishing holes through the marsh. I probably played this course 25 times as a junior thanks to their old $ 12.50 junior rates. It’s still reasonably priced for us grown-​ups, although you can find better values elsewhere if you look.

Typical muni course. Provides discounts to Oceanside residents and to a lesser degree SoCal residents. As a SoCal resident, played twilight with cart for $ 31.
Pros:
— Excellent driving range. Real grass.
— Limited wait time on Saturday even without a reserved tee time.
— Excellent fairway maintenance.
Cons:
— Gets dark and gloomy in Oceanside SUPER early. Could not finish 18.
— Plays «easy», very few challenging holes.

Nice muni course. Can’t beat the greens fees. I like the facility because it has a decent driving range… wish it was lighted though.

This course is pretty boring, It is what you would expect from a municipal course, most holes are similar and the course is in decent shape. For $ 50 you can find better.

Place is OK, good golfing and nice people. Has a big enough driving range to accommodate everyone. The Oceanside Municipal Golf Course is a very tight, tree-​lined layout. Streams and marshes come into play on 14 holes. Nothing to brag about, but come here to play at least once a year.
