A luxury Whale Watching company located in front of the historic Light House in Oceanside Harbor.

Come out with us for an AWE inspiring Whale and Dolphin Watching adventure. Our trips are 2 hours and are great for families, couples, private parties, and corporate events. Our adventure is perfect for anyone and everyone that loves the ocean or the wildlife we may encounter.

Our vessel is a NEW 50 foot beautifully equipped one level fast Catamaran built by Cooper Marine in Florida. This US Coast Guard inspected Catamaran is perfect for optimal viewing, we have both covered and non covered areas and seating throughout. Get up close and personal to the marine life minutes away from Oceanside Harbor.

Each trip is narrated by your expert Captain a certified naturalist who loves Whales and Dolphin just like you do.

History

Established in 2008.

DANA POINT, CA — Offering destination management companies and corporate meeting planners a unique mix of ecology, education and excitement, Dana Wharf Sportfishing, the originator of whale watching in Orange County, is launching a new series of naturalist-​guided whale watching and sea life adventure charters aboard a brand-​new, state-​of-​the-​art, eco-​friendly catamaran, the OCean Adventure.

Highlighting each cruise will be informative commentary by certified naturalist Angie Cowan. Cowan observed, «The largest wilderness in the world is just off our shore. The combination of our ecology and marine-​life experts and this first-​class new vessel will create an unparalleled adventure for our guests.»

Sharing top billing with Cowan will be the 63-​foot OCean Adventure, which was designed and built exclusively for Dana Wharf. It accommodates up to 49 guests and features a deli-​style galley and full-​service bar. Groups that charter the vessel may also contract with their own caterer. Among t

This place was awesome — well worth the money and the tour guides were just cool people. We got to see dolphins and whales and the kids loved it. Better than any other tours I’ve taken!

Missed the 2:00 Whale Watching in Dana Point. They said if you don’t see whales they will re schedule your trip. $ 16 each.
Oceanside had a 2:30 for $ 39 each. No refund if no whales. Kind of pricey. We went anyway as we missed the 2:00 in Dana Point. Very nice clean boat. No whales, but saw some cool Dolphins. Had a couple beers, and Bloody Mary. Don’t recommend a $ 10 Bloody Mary w Smirnoff. Bad headache. Didn’t have extra money for tips. Only take cash for bar service. Hope the boys get paid well from the boss at $ 39 per person. 7 of us plus drinks. $$$ They Should!

So much fun! My family and I went on an afternoon tour over the weekend. The boat is clean and comfortable. It’s doesn’t seem like they overbook the tours so everyone has room to move about the boat for optimum viewing. We were able to see Dolphins (which was amazing because they hung around us for awhile), sea lions, and a large whale. The staff were super knowledgable about each animal and the area. We did get a bit wet which was a little unexpected. The water was choppy and a couple people up front were soaked. I would recommend that they warn people ahead that there is a risk of getting very wet if you sit up front on the way out of the harbor.

What a great way to spend the evening with 18 friends. We had cocktails, saw dolphins and got soaked (but only if you stood at the bow like myself and a friend), but that made this sunset cruise that much more memorable.
I highly recommend this cruise. The crew was great playing only the music that we liked and danced to and keeping our glasses full.

As part of the pack of 18 women, I too enjoyed this trip very much. While it wasn’t a slow smooth cruise, I don’t think most of us expected it to be. Frankly, the rougher waters made for many laughs as we made our way around the boat. The crew couldn’t have been more helpful and fun — would do this again in a heartbeat!

I am also writing to firmly disagree with the review by Debbye S. on our private group charter for 18 women on 4⁄23 for a sunset cocktail cruise. I was one of the women and the organizer of that trip and we got EXACTLY what I ordered. A trip out of the harbor and down the coast to Carlsbad to enjoy the fresh air out on the sea and a beautiful sunset. I guess Debbye was (mistakenly) expecting us to stay inside the harbor where we could not even see the horizon at sunset. Oceanside Adventures has no control over windy conditions and choppy seas. I’m sorry my one friend did not enjoy the trip, but clearly all of the other women had a blast. We did have to hold on to move about, but the boat,(spotless) the crew (accommodating and fun,) and the drinks (even special ordered prosecco) were awesome. I would and will totally recommend this company for group outings. I think it was the highlight of our weekend.

I am going to retract my previous 1 star review of this business and give them 5 stars. After further review the person who originally contracted the business had requested the type of evening which we had. I was just the person that had met with the captain and given the deposit. Everyone except myself had a fantastic time. It is a beautiful boat and I’m sure anyone that goes on any type of trip will have an awesome time. I hope this is of value to anyone looking to book a boat out of Oceanside Harbor.

I enjoyed the sunset cruise we (group of 18 women 50 – 60 years old) took on 4−23−16. Our group leader had asked that our cruise go outside the harbor knowing that it would be more interesting and would afford us the opportunity to view sea life, risking rougher water. The sea was rougher than expected but we made the best of it. The crew was awesome serving us drinks and playing great rock N roll music. They even got us up close to a group of dolphins. A few of the women of our group decided to be very adventurous and stand at the bow of the boat to ensure their would experience the most movement and waves crashing on them — they got drenched — what a blast! I would recommend this company for a cruise as the boat was clean, well maintained and the entire crew was helpful and very attentive.

A beautiful day for a boat trip on their 47-​ft catamaran. Staff friendly & knowledgeable. We took the 2-​hr adventure & were able to watch several grey whales making their way back up the coast to Alaska. The boat is kind of small so we were bouncing a bit on the waves. The boat has snacks & beverages which made for a Fantastic trip.

We are locals who decided to go on a whale watching tour as a birthday gift to me this year. Locating the office and the dock was super easy and the staff was courteous and upbeat. Our tour was the last one on Sunday and we went as far North to San Onofre chasing after a Mother whale with her baby. Once we turned around we headed South down near the power plant in Carlsbad. We saw a variety of dolphin families and the captain and one of the staffed crew helped us to spot these in the ocean. Our time out on the boat went quickly although we were out longer than 2 hours. It was a great day and a real treat to see the whales making their way North from the Sea of Cortez. Such a nice 80 degree day out on the water in mid-​April. Definitely a trip worth repeating! :)

Don’t miss this experience when in the Oceanside/​Carlsbad area! Wonderful 2 hours on the boat. Our deck guide was fabulous, knowledgeable, polite and even gave us coupons! We saw several seal life animals. Highly recommended!

I called to make our reservation. It was very easy and I paid over the phone. We were on the 2:30 tour. Arrived at the harbor around 2:00. We were greeted with a friendly hello, and boarded out boat.
Brett was our on deck guide & bar tender. He was super friendly and knowledgable. I didn’t catch our captain’s name, but if I remember correctly it was his 22nd birthday.
We had an exceptional time on our tour. It was about a 2 hour boat ride into the Pacific. We saw beautiful views of the ocean and coast, gorgeous birds, Dolphins, sea lions — but unfortunately no whales. Brett said this is not common.
We were given our tickets back to come again for another tour anytime because we did not see any whales. This was no need to give us our tickets back, but it was appreciated.
We loved the boat ride and the price was worth that alone!

I work for Grand Pacific Resorts in Carlsbad. I’ve lived here for a few years and didn’t realize there was a whale watching company so close to home. Oceanside Adventures staff was knowledgeable and fun. The boat it’s self is practically new. It was a fun relaxing experience with views of multiple sea life. I will continue to use and highly recommend to others that are visiting to have this experience.

Best experience we’ve ever had. We were running a little late and they waited a couple minutes for us before leaving. We saw several gray whales and a pod of 150 dolphins. They said it was completely unusual. We were so happy and couldn’t have asked for a better experience! $ 39 per person for a little over 2 hours.

The crew was informative about whale behavior, and we managed to find a small humpback Whale, and follow it through a few dives and returns to surface. Statements, like every breath of a whale being a purposeful and voluntary actions made the voyage interesting. We made it out about 5 miles from shore, and it was great seeing Oceanside and Carlsbad from the ocean. I went out on a noon trip, and it was a nice way to spend an afternoon.

Went on the 2:30pm, 2 hr whale watching and dolphin tour and it was a wonderful experience! I was in a party of 7 (4 adults and 3 children) unfortunately we had to pay full cost ($ 30) for all the kids (a 3 and 2 year old and even the 11 month old) in my opinion that is a little steep. Other than that, my experience was great! We saw 3 whales total and got up to 100 yards to one of them! We also saw about 50 dolphins that swam right up to the boat. Keep in mind, every tour is different and the company has no control over what you may see. (The 12pm tour before us only saw 3 dolphins and 1 whale) The boat was spacious and was safe enough to let the toddlers walk around. Tips I will give you is pick the later tour, as it is less crowded and bring a jacket or hoodie because it gets breezy out there! I would definitely recommend this to others!
