Montessori School of Oceanside

This review is in fact for MSO. I have no clue why the owner would say it isn’t.

My niece who I am a guardian to was enrolled in Kindergarten (or the pre Elementary program) here for 2014 school year. The school is FANTASTIC. The staff is great, I especially like Miss. Dodd she is really great and you can truly see that she cares deeply for all of her students and the success of the school. My niece’s teacher was Ms. Cleo, and Ms. Ashley who I have to say are the hardest working teachers I have ever met. They both are extremely patient, kind, and hard working. I hope they both get a raise!
Things I loved about this school.
*The field trips are AWESOME! I volunteered to help out at the Balboa Park/​World Beat Center — African Drum lesson and show– and I was blown away about how efficient, and organized they were about taking care of all the kids and making sure they knew where they all were at all times. The field trip was incredible and I know it will be an experience my niece will never forget.
*School fundraisers, and events i. e Jog-​a-​thon, Assembly’s, and Graduation Ceremony– were beautifully decorated, well thought out and super fun to attend.
*Curriculum– When she started the school at the end of August 2013 she did not know how to read or write (at least not well at all.) My niece just turned 6 this May– she has the reading and writing skills of a 2^nd grader (literally.) The Montessori program and the teachers combined have allowed my niece to get a jump start at life with their amazing skills in academics.
*They provide a healthy lunch and snacks (parents rotate snacks– so once a month you have to bring in a snack.) My niece is allergic to all DAIRY and they were kind enough to use the non dairy cheese, almond milk, and non dairy desserts we brought in for her so she was not left out.
The school is worth every penny! I am deeply saddened that due to geographical reasons (I live 50 miles south of Oceanside), and a change in how long my niece will be in North County during the week, that my niece will not be attending next year for 1^st grade. However we will never forget our experience at this school and plan on coming in to say hello if we are in the area.
Oceanside is not the best demographic in this city to live in — I was extremely concerned about the quality of schools in this area (pre enrollment here,) however Montessori School of Oceanside not only protected my niece from being in a substandard school situation — they actually allowed for her to excel and be pushed to her true potential.
I HIGHLY recommend having your child come here, and I highly recommend making it work if you think you cannot afford it. The early years 4 – 10 are SO important to get a good foundation for learning. I know myself as I was schooled in England during these ages-​and I have to say if I didn’t get the jump start from being in a high quality school during those years– it would have effected my entire life– and not in a good way. Kids want to learn at this age– so why not provide the best for them while they are still enthusiastic about learning? Go check out the school yourself I am confident it will be a choice you will not regret.

I enrolled my children at this school after my mother recommended it to me, my sister attended for several years (she is now a high school senior who has been accepted to an Ivy league college). This school completes our family, they have taught both of my children how to learn, how to love, and how to respect. My oldest child didn’t start until he was 3 and my youngest started around 15 months, if I could have… I would have sent them sooner. The structure that the staff provides in each classroom is unparalleled to other programs. If your interviewing pre-​schools, I highly suggest you stop in here and at least check it out, maybe even talk to a student… you will know right away that those kids love this school, I know mine do :)

Both of my kids have attended MSO. The oldest is now in a public Kindergarten and is doing great. I credit her time at MSO for her easy transition. She’s confident, bright, social and kind. These are all traits that were reinforced while at MSO. My youngest is in preschool and just loves it. I was very hesitant to remove him from his home daycare bubble. He has multiple food allergies and I was concerned that this type of environment would not be able to accommodate him. The staff is continually working with me to make sure he is safe and does not feel left out. I love this school!

My daughter started here at 3 ½ years old and has been going for 5 months and just blossomed!
I love this schools teachers and think it’s the right amount of structure, education, and play. They hold the kids to a higher standard with responsibility, independence and respect which I believe is important.
Just the other day I talked to two parents who’s children go to children’s village and la petite and they were saying how unhappy they were and how expensive weekly tuition is. We compared prices and hands down Montessori was most affordable.
My daughter and any future babes will be MSO kids.

My daughter absolutely loved her time here. The staff made a point to treat us like family, and the education she received there, even in preschool, was valuable and relevant to future elementary curriculum. All of the teachers are well-​versed in traditional Montessori teaching methods. Favorites of my daughter’s are Ms. Lucky, Mrs. Dodd, Ms. Bonnie and Ms. Joy. Sadly, she only was able to attend for a year, as her Dad moved onto base making the commute too long, but we will always recommend MSO to parents in our circles, and we hope that MSO continues to grow and thrive as a whole.

I have two children who are attending this school. Our commute (in traffic) is about an hour to and from this school, and I feel it is still worth the effort. Here are the reasons:
1. My children are close to my work, and it is important that I can get to them quickly if it needs be.
2. My oldest was 2 years old when he initially started here. He was an extreme introvert and not very verbal. His teacher at the time showed concern and was genuinely caring for the wellbeing of my son. With the teacher’s suggestion, we sought speech evaluations and learned that it was just his personality. Despite the fact that the teacher had a full class, she took the time to learn his way. Now that he is 5, every teacher who he has encountered, worked their charms, and they all have a special place in my heart for not giving up on him.
3. I have enrolled my daughter here since she was 2 months old, and to this day, I am still astonished at how much she learned at school every day! The program is very well established, and she really enjoys being at school for the past two years.
4. The staff and the teachers are very friendly, and they are always willing to address any concern or conflict. They are also very quick in responding to emails, calls and even text messages! And they were eager to share the developmental progress of my children on a daily bases. Bottom line is they TRULY care and pay attention!
5. Regarding tuition, I had done my research and it is not the highest compared to the local area. For the solid foundation that my children are receiving, I think I am getting the better end of the deal here.
Overall, I do recommend anyone who is looking into the Montessori program to put this school on the list and visit the campus. I was impressed with the spaciousness and cleanliness when I made my initial visit.

Pros: I’ll start off by saying the education part is decent with it being a smaller school the children get more one on one time versus to public schools.
Cons: It’s super expensive: I mean we are talking close to 1k a month then you have to purchase uniforms then you got buy their patches, then you have to make sure your kids pack their lunch, then any field trips once again your paying out of pocket, then they ask who can help out with rides to the field trips, then it’s they need to raise money for a Spring Concert again out of pocket expenses.
Education part good but I think there are other places that can provide same education purposes minus the price tag. If you ask them for anything it’s like their doing you a favor or something. I wouldn’t recommend this place unless you don’t mind giving money away and if that’s the case I’ll send you my address.

My three daughters all went to the Montessori School of Oceanside, one from as early as the youngest classroom (5 months old) and another all the way up to kindergarten.
I can not say enough good things about this center– the staff is awesome, the teachers are wonderful, and they truly care about the children. It was like one big family, not like those other centers where the turnover rate is atrocious.
Not only that, my girls learned SO MUCH. My now 1^st grader goes to public school and is way above grade level! Montessori philosophy at it’s finest.
