Massage Envy – Carlsbad-Oceanside

Decent service, but not worth the hassel of a membership. I still had to pay the 6months of service even if you cancel. My reasoning for canceling was due to the price. Then when I did cancel they still wanted me to pay for an additional month when I had a receipt to say to stop paying on a specific date. They also did not realize that they were looking at the wrong persons info for me.

Most disgusting experience of my life. I came to this location the day prior to Thanksgiving for some stress relief from a bad back. The woman who was supposed to massage my back, Sara, was sick yet the staff thought it’d be okay to let her work any ways.
Fifteen minutes into the massage, Sara begins a coughing fit. After blowing her nose, this plague infestation of a woman thought it’d be okay to use some hand sanitizer and go back to touching me. Disgusting!
I told her to stop and get out. I got dressed and demanded to speak to the manager. Of course the manager wasn’t in but the receptionist promised to not charge me and handed me a coupon, explaining that the manager would call me the next day. Right…
Thanksgiving has come and gone and no phone call or message from the manager. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. They obviously do not care for the welfare of their customers. I have since logged a complain with the San Diego County Board of Health citing them for a potential health violation.

Terrible. They gave me the wrong time for my scheduled appointment or booked the wrong spot so I showed up 3 hours early. The attitude of the assistant manager and surrounding staff was horrible and dismissive. She actually tried to charge me a $ 30 fee to cancel the 4pm which I could never have made that time so I never would have booked it. Total attitude problem until I asked for her managers name, then she was all about trying to help. Very unprofessional looking and acting staff. Too bad this is the only Oceanside location, I may just have to cancel my membership I have had for four years in Colorado.
Edit: I visited the DMV today and just reviewed them for four stars. What does that tell you about this place? You seriously need to rethink your customer service and staffing policy when the DMV beats you by 4X

I just had one of the worst massages I’ve ever had in my life, I received a massage from Phil. I asked for a deep tissue and he never eased into my muscle. His flow was off and rubbed my skin together and if felt like rug burn. In lack of a better word the massage was half ass, he hurt me. I let the front desk know about my horrible experience and Macy the front desk associate made my experience even worse. Her excuse was that he is not use to «couples massage» I don’t think that’s a excuse for a bad massage. Wish I could leave no stars.

Everyone is always really nice here. I was fortunate enough to have Abe for my first massage and only request him now. He listens to what you ask for and does an amazing job! I always look forward to coming back here.

We have been going to Brindusa now for a couple of months and love her! The location is clean, have attentive staff and they make sure we are happy every time. We have been members in California for over 7 years.

First I have to say I am not a member of message envy and when I made my first appointment at Massage Envy I was extremely excited to pamper myself. I made an appointment for a facial and full body massage about a week and a half out to my appointment date. The day before my appointment I received a phone call saying the lady who was doing my facial had a family emergency. I could understand an emergency so I asked if anyone else was available. I was told I could not get my facial that day so I asked to just reschedule both my facial and massage for a later date. They agreed and canceled my appoint free of charge. A couple weeks later I rescheduled and again received a call the day prior to my appointment stating the lady who was doing my facial had a family emergency. I was a little frustrated but still said I would reschedule again.
I recently scheduled a facial and full body massage for myself and a close friend who is leaving California as a going away gift. Again I scheduled the appointment about a week out. We were both looking forward to our girls day and AGAIN (today 7 July 2015) I was called the day prior to my appointment 8 July saying the lady who is doing one of our facials cant do it because she had a family emergency. This is the THIRD time there was a family emergency. I am completely and utterly frustrated at this point and asked to speak with a supervisor.
I was told that she would call me back shortly. After waiting two hours I called back and asked for the supervisor and I was told she was in a meeting. I waited about another two hours and called again and was told she’s still in a meeting. I called back again, a third time, and asked for the supervisor and I was told she would call me first thing in the morning. I then proceed to ask why I had not received a call staying she would call me in the morning and why she couldn’t call me before she left work. I canceled both my appointments and do not plan on ever attempt a scheduling anything else.
Each phone call was a different woman and none of them even attempt to rectify the situation. I am completely dissatisfied with the customer service from Massage Envy. You would think they would treat a nonmember with excellent service in order to get them to sign up with a membership. Absolutely TERRIBLE!

I am at a bit of loss, Abe is by far the best at ME but he changed his hours to 9 – 2. Hoping he will reconsider and open up one evening day at a minimum once a month.

One of the most horrible experience that i ever had, no clue how to do facials and definitely not a massage. Its a waste of time and money too.

I tried to get in multiple times between this location and the vista one… I was told we are booked. Finally I made it to this place. At the time of booking, I was asked do I have any areas that need special attention which I said no. Upon arrival, I was given a form to fill, with the desired pressure (medium to high). After I returned the form, I was told I was booked with a masseuse that only does light pressure!!!
I had killed 2 hours time on a Friday night at work, to acommodate the time I was offered. I was really looking forward to this massage, and I learned that the type of massage I am looking for wasn’t available at 7:30 PM Friday night after I made the trip.

Pretty impressed. I usually I go to the Vista location, but wasn’t too thrilled with the deep tissue I was getting there. So, today I saw Paul at the Oceanside location. OMG! It was heaven! His pressure was just right and he didn’t talk my ear off the whole time. I could actually relax! The front office staff was friendly and prompt in assisting me. I’ll definitely be back.

I will never visit this location again. The experience was just horrible all around. There was one receptionist when I arrived. I stood in line for about three minutes before being asked if I was just checking in, the guy in front of me was setting up an appointment. I don’t remember my massage therapist introducing herself. She never asked what kind of pressure I wanted. As she started, I asked for medium pressure. In return, she applied lotion to my body for an hour. My shoulders and neck are probably worse then when I arrived. I will no longer return to this location and I will cancel
My membership after my last massage.

My husband and I love this location. I am upgrading my review because they worked it so I didn’t pay a cancelation fee by booking someone in my spot. I was a grumpy mess after a 19 hour flight home. Summer was so sweet despite my mood.
Rachel and Stacy are the best. Be careful with Claire when it comes to deep tissue on targeted spots. I knew it wouldn’t be gentle, but she left me bruised pretty bad. My fault for not saying something. So if you get her speak up!
Rachel is awesome! I didn’t want to get off the table lol.

Abe is amazing! Perfect pressure and made me feel 10xs better.
I’m not a fan of the massage envy membership. Tip to everyone: go with with 3 month paid in full membership. 3 massages and 3 months to use them and 3 months of membership prices and you are not locked into the contract. Also… READ BEFORE YOU SIGN! I do not understand why people gives this place a bad rating because they «didn’t know it was a year contract.» It is the first thing the contract says!!! Why would you sign anything with out reading first and then getting mad at someone who holds you liable to a contract that you signed? Doesn’t make sense to me.
Anyways… I can’t wait to get another 3 month membership soon and make an appointment with abe.

Clean rooms and tranquil waiting area. Its a corporate chain massage parlor so I’m sure you’re missing some of the local massage culture and specialized training the individual places may have. Still feels like a massage to me. A friend of mine said she had an issue with the oils they use bit I have fairly sensitive skin and I’ve been fine.
They will most definitely will try to sell you on the membership. I went for it. You get 1 massage per month for $ 60. Of course you still have to tip but the massage therapists deserve it. Its been nice. Before I would only get 1 or two massages per year. Now I look forward to my massage each month. Very relaxing and just what every hard working girl deserves!
I requested a male because I like deep tissue massage. They paired me up with Abe and he is great! I’ve requested him every time since.

This place truly is fantastic! Being a server in a busy restaurant nd a desk/​stair jockey my muscles get all sorts of tensed up! Abraham has the hands of a god! He knows just how to work your muscles so they will relax!
I usually go for deep tissue to insure all deeper muscles are taken care of. The essential oil massage is so relaxing you just don want to leave!
I am a member here and plan to always have a membership with them! Preferably with Abe!
If you want a massage just to try it out this is the place to go! They have a killer introductory rate! And you won’t be anything but amazing, happy and relaxed

One star is an overstatement to say the least. They asked over the phone if my friend was on Retin A, and a couple other typical questions regarding facials. She got there and the esthetician said she could not work on her if she was on Chemotherapy. My friend asked to speak with the manager. The manager was completely unprofessional and never looked up from her computer screen, never said why she was not able to give her a facial and did not have a stitch of empathy toward my friend. Let me tell you, I was horrified to hear this story. My friend deserves a real apology and a free massage «to say the least» to make up for her ridiculous action toward her.

I had Stephanie today and she was AWESOME! I’ve been getting massages now for many years and this is the first time I’ve told my therapist where I’m having problems and she nailed the spot. Felt SO much better!!! She listened to me before our session and did everything perfect. She’ll be my regular therapist there! Seeing her every month going forward.
Front desk ladies and Corbin were super nice and instantly greeted me before and after my massage. Clean as well.

I visited today for one of my monthly massages… Russ was my therapist. The service was good, he’s very patient and it was very relaxing. I usually go to JaQueece (spelling) but she’s been booked for a bit– she’s pretty awesome! Highly encouraged trying her out. The girls are friendly in the front and make checking In super easy.
I love being a member just wish there were more appointments available when I call… They are booked all up often :(

I’m not crazy about the front desk girls. They’re efficient, do what they’re suppose to do, and that’s about it. However I don’t see that genuine sincere welcome from them. You’re just a client, business, a body. So yeah… Nothing exciting to talk about them.
What I do love about this place is my masseuse Ellen. I keep coming back to her. I suffer from a mild case of fibromyalgia and Ellen is great at what she does. She gives me the right amount pressure to get my kinks out and I really like a lot for that. I’ve had many masseuse in the past, not many comes close to how good Ellen is.
