La Quinta Inn San Diego Oceanside

Strip club on one side with music until 2AM. Wifi connection is open with no password and was unable to connect after trying every few hours. Front desk notified and unable to resolve. The room was clean, breakfast was good, and the service was ok, but you can’t put lipstick on a pig!

Emmeline at the front desk was amazing! Not only does she have great customer service, but she upgraded us to a suite. The suite was clean and spacious, and the bed comfy. We have already booked another stay.

Very helpful service, clean room with coffeemaker and microwave. Comfortable bed. Quiet. Very good selection at breakfast. Affordable. My only small complaint is their tiny closet. This will be my first choice when I return.

If you are looking to travel with your dogs this is the place I hassitated at first thinking the room will smell and full of dogs hair but to my suprise it very clean and smell good i brought lysol with me and had no use to it. Customer service was great breakfast was good, the hotel was full with doogs (I saw them every night outdoor) but you canot hear any barks inside the hotel
The only thing you can not leave them unattend Over all good experience

A little deceiving from the outside and also next to a gentlemen’s club but that didn’t bother me! I just wanted the inside to be clean, which totally lived up to my expectations. I would recommend to anyone looking for a clean hotel!

Great customer service & nice rooms. The only thing I disliked were the sheets. Very rough.

Honestly, this place deserves no stars. Bad customer service and stealing aren’t exactly what I think people are looking for.
I was unimpressed before I even checked in. I called several times on our way there to let them know we would be arriving after midnight. I have had hotel reservations cancelled before due to arriving late, so I just wanted to let them know. I called at least ten times, and the phone rang for minutes on end. That should have been my first sign…
Upon arriving, I was happy that we still had our reservation, but the customer service left a lot to be desired. The next morning, we were awakened at 8 AM by construction happening in all the rooms around us. Really? Why would you put people on a floor that you are remodeling? Luckily, we had things to do, so I was just up for the day a lot earlier than I would liked to have been. When we got back to the room later that day, it looked like everything was back in order since we could now walk in the hallways because there weren’t rolls of carpet stacked everywhere. I got the impression that they were done working on our floor, and our next two days at the hotel would be construction free.
The next day, my husband had LASIK eye surgery, and we got back to the room around 10 AM with no sign of construction/​construction noise, so I was happy about that because he needed to sleep. About 30 minutes later, they started in again with the drilling, nailing, slamming, etc. I had had enough at this point and asked to be moved to a different room. I got great customer service from the girl working the desk on this day. That is the only positive from this stay.
When we arrived to the new room, things were much better. My husband got to sleep and I was able to actually hear myself think. All is fine and dandy until…
The next day, I am packing up our things and realize my iPad is missing. I did not recall having it in our new room, but distinctly remember where I left it in the first room. I tore our current room apart just to make sure my pregnancy brain hadn’t struck again. It wasn’t there. Is it my fault for leaving it? Absolutely. However, when you’re in the kind of rage I was in (fueled by pregnancy) because of the sheer lack of common sense by people who place hotel guests on a floor with major construction going on and have to pack up your belongings in the dark because your husband can’t be exposed to light, things like that tend to get missed. I asked the front desk if anyone had turned it in, and all the maids said they didn’t see it when they cleaned our room. You know when you can just sense you’re being lied to? Yeah, that was how I felt in that moment. Great. I got in the CLEANED room myself to search and it wasn’t there. Fantastic. My husband could not accept the fact that no one seemed to know what happened to my iPad, so he decided to go to the front desk as well. He was told by the front desk and all the maids that no one even cleaned the room because it’s going to be remodeled before anyone else stays in there. Wait, what?! Remember that they told me they cleaned it and I saw it for myself, and it was cleaned. I take full responsibility for leaving it, but the fact is that only a few people had access after we left the room, we were told two different stories, and I still have no iPad. Seems shady to me. Sure this would be easy if the internet were connected on it, I could find it that way, but it wasn’t turned on it and it has not been since it has been missing. After all of this, there was no apology, no offer to comp a night, no offer to take my information in case it turned up, and we were treated like we had done something wrong. If you are looking to get something stolen, stay here.

just checked in … were reconning the area; clean nice quiet homey atmosphere. updated, kitchennette well maintained… friendly helpful knowledgeable front desk staff… location close enough for our marathon tomorrow @ Camp Pendleton. Heading out for dinner

I always stay at La Quinta, especially because they are mostly pet friendly. This is a middle of the road La Quinta. It’s mostly updated but it’s still under construction & the breakfast is somewhat limited (but good enough for short stay). It is a 10 minute walk to the beach and town. The area looks seedy as the hotel is situated between a strip club & a motel that looks like it rents by the hour. But Oceanside is a mixed income town & you’ll get that. We felt safe walking around day and night. I think this place is a terrific value. It sits between the beach and harbor. It offers rooms with kitchenettes so you can save on your food budget. No stove but it has a microwave, large dorm fridge, long counter & large sink.

The girl at the counter was so sweet. We’re here for fumigation, and they were totally cool about birds being in the room. That is a rare find. I also have dogs, and the no charge policy is amazing. She even held my pup so I could grab food really quick because I was also holding my son. I would stay here again any day!
Room is also really clean, bed is comfy. Love that there’s a kitchenette. Cable and Internet is a huge plus. Ac works and doesn’t smell. I totally forgot there was a strip club next door.

From my visits, I’ve observed that the hotel is clean, front desk staff is helpful, and rooms are spacious and nicely appointed with amenities to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
My friend is in the process of moving back to Oceanside from northern California. He has booked a stay in several different rooms, and I totally went into Unilocal mode, visiting and checking things out… and reporting back to fellow Unilocalers with this review!
One of the especially nice suites has separate bedroom, living room and kitchen areas, PLUS huge balcony with a hot tub for soaking under the stars. Like a mermaid returning to her oceanic home, I took a dip in the hot tub. Soooooo nice!
I hear they also serve darn good waffles in the morning!

Clean, comfortable, hot water, toilet works, great make up light, and plenty of room. For a room so close to the things we enjoy in this area. We spend our days outside, so why overspend? If we needed, there is a little fridge w freezer, sink, microwave, and coffeemaker with plenty of storage space for disposable tableware and food prep plus our little Pom got to come along. We had A great nights sleep and ready for fun in the sun! I would have given 5 stars for huge pillows, but we brought our own.

We have a dog. That’s the main reason I stayed. Plus I have aaa so the deal was great. Umm the carpet is green. It’s not the best, let’s say that. Close to the freeway and beach. This is my last day of my 6 day california trip. I came from Seattle. It’s not a bad room. 4 stars if they changed the floor.

Yuck… This hotel is gross. Old, rundown, and they need to refresh the rooms not the hallways and the front desk/​breakfast area. The workstations in the rooms is a joke and they have no lobby of you need to work as a group. I will not be back.

This was not my 1^st choice for a hotel. Since a friend had booked it for us I couldn’t complain. Located right next to a strip club which didn’t turn us off at all lol. The entire hotel was pet friendly which is a shocker to me but hey furry friends need love too. Our jr. suite room was nice & clean with a mini fridge, microwave, tv, office desk, & dining table. The bed was comfortable with extra extra pillows as requested. Thank God the a/​c was in good condition since it was a 100 degrees when we went. I did not like the ant baits found in the bathroom. Thankfully no sign of ants in the room. Breakfast is included with kids this is a must. The breakfast area however, tiny, crowded & very claustrophobic. They offered sausages, biscuits with gravy, cold & hot cerals, bagels, some Danish, eggs. When we went to get the car from self parking (no fee score!)Noticed that one side of the car had ants crawling all over it. My goodness even inside the door frame wth? I would not stay here again ever. Terrible after those ants & the breakfast issue. Too many good hotels on hotel row here to choose from.

Don’t freak out about the strip club next door. Nice and quite place you will forget it is there. Hotel is clean inside and out and staff is nice.

We stayed here because we could take our dog.
1. The rooms are super clean for being a doggy motel. There was no sign of other dogs ever staying in my room. It was nice to have a fridge and microwave in the room. 2. Yes it is next to a strip club but you would not know it except for the discreet sign, it was quiet there and no one was ever outside of it saw one guy smoking outside and that’s it.
3. The customer service was excellent. Our car broke down about an hour after we checked in barely got it back to motel. The front desk guy (Erickson) went up and above to get us a list of auto repair services in the area. He researched them off of Unilocal (which I always do) and came up with a list of 5 places. Erickson we went with Bills Complete Automotive and he was great I would recommend him to you as well even though I know you got your guy in Escondido. (Just to let you know it was our water pump and he fixed it in two hours for a reasonable price) Thanks for being so calm and helpful during my almost melt down stressful situation it was much appreciated.
4. Because our car broke down the first day we were so close to the beach and the shops and restaurants we were able to walk to all so the place is in a great location.
5. The free breakfast was great it had hard boiled eggs, make yourself waffles, biscuits and gravy, bacon one day and sausage the next, cold and hot cereal, pastries, bagel and cream cheese, toast, fruit, yogurt, coffee, and juice. there’s probably a few more items I am forgetting.
6. Flat screen tv with direct Tv
Will definitely stay here again if ever in the area. Obviously you can stay in nicer places at a higher rate. This was great for the price and because I could take my dog. It was clean and had great customer service pretty much my criteria.

Overall, great experience.
I stayed here in March, and got a really good deal on the room. Yes it’s right next-​door to a strip club, but who cares? We didn’t bother them, and they didn’t bother us.
My room (314) was surgical-​room clean. Everything practically seemed new. It was large, nice clean new mini fridge.
The breakfast was on the nicer side of a continental breakfast.
***It would have been 4 stars, but I’m docking it one for the following reason:
If you make any LOCAL calls– CHECK YOUR PHONE BILL. I ordered a pizza from Carmines down the street, and they charged me 5 dollars for it. After explaining that it was not only a (760) number, but also literally a couple of blocks down the street, the gentleman at the desk finally agreed (after first trying to justify the charge) to remove the ridiculous charge from my bill.
Will come back if I can get a good deal again!

I thought this hotel would have been a lot nicer for the prices we paid to stay a night. My mom came into town and wanted a nice hotel. After reading the reviews and seeing how cute the rooms were here we decided this place would be good. Don’t get me wrong the room was clean upon arrival.
The hotel rooms have signs they have on the nightstand that state «put this on your pillow and your sheets will be changed daily, no sign on pillow sheets will be replaced every 3 days». Well we left to go out and about and came home to the room.
The beds were made! But the sheets were not changed. Eyeliner that I had worn the day before was still on the sheet. My mom had eaten cookies and crumbs had fallen on the floor and on the nightstand. Nothing was vacuumed.
The breakfast was also disgusting.
I will add a star for the customer service of the main manager who offered us a free future stay since our stay wasnt so great!

We decided to stay here for a last minute «before school starts» trip to Legoland. And I must admit, driving up to this location, the husband and I were a little skeptical bc the place looks a bit sketch. Not very appealing, let alone a strip joint RIGHT NEXT door. But don’t let that discourage you. Barely anyone was hanging out at the joint — just to smoke outside but that was it. I thought it was going to be loud but slept like a baby (and I’m a light sleeper).
The staff wasn’t AMAZING, but they were friendly. The breakfast was good, no spectacular but can’t complain.
Knocked off a star bc I did cook dinner in our room a couple of the nights we were there and the burners SUCK! Literally took 35 – 40 minutes to boil a pot of water.
Nearby places — the beach = BEAUTIFUL! Downtown Oceanside boutiques, a cute, very quaint place to walk around. 10 min drive to Legoland.
