I have ordered several things from Julian Bakery. The protein bars are my favorite. I have ordered five different loaves of bread and they have all been good. Not real good for toasting. I have also ordered the protein mix. The double chocolate is great. I did not like the plain one that was beef protein. Just didn’t like the taste. Did like the vanilla egg protein. Love the Paleo crackers. The orders take a while but they are up front about that. I wrote customer service twice to ask a question and was answered very promptly.

Another person who wishes there was a «zero» star option. These were inedible and I purchased 2 boxes, 2 different flavors. I emailed the company and asked about returns without my receipt and they told me to mail them back. 3 weeks later, they claim they will contact me when they arrive. Really??? Horrible business! Facebook is a joke.

Do not order anything from this company. Their product is garbage and they will not return my calls, emails or my money. They also blocked me from posting comments on their Facebook page. Unethical business peddling garbage.

I’m hoping I can give this no stars. First off most of the food they sell isn’t so good. Some is okay– they claim to be paleo but paleo is real whole food and if you check they are just trying to make money off the latest fad — for those of us who are serious about health and health issues they are not truly real whole food. I did try some for convenience and this is my biggest problem with them. Buyer BEWARE — their customer service is awful. If they screw up, they don’t care about correcting the problem. They are busy and making money left and right so who cares if they lose one customer. They messed one little thing up and would only fix it halfway for me but the attitude was such they couldn’t care less. Ok gave them another shot maybe it was the person on the phone and they adjusted a little but didn’t fix– well I ordered my 3^rd box of paleo protein bars (which don’t be fooled aren’t real whole food– going back to my larabar and others like it– these have protein isolate and stevia. Why need sweetener) anyway tried the new flavor after liking the chewiness of some but only some of the variety pack– the vanilla pudding are horrid just to warn anyone but hat wasn’t my complaint– they were late in arriving so I called and was told they «took more orders than they could handle» so some didn’t get sent out (see all they cared about was money and didn’t even notify they’d be late) well when I got them and tried to bite into– so hard I could hardly bite and worried about my teeth. These were not normal. The others were not like this. I guessed that since they took too many orders and were likely rushing they got over baked. When I called I was told that possibly they got too hard because California had been very cold in the mornings — so the person admitted something could be wrong due to them not protecting the bars from the cold. Either way, my theory or hers — it was Julian bakery’s fault. Well they would only refund or exchange if I paid to ship the defective bars back. They would not refund my shipping costs. It cost me $ 12 (and change) to ship them back plus they would not refund for the open bar — how was I supposed to know it would be inedible and rock hard until opened and bitten into? They somehow figured out that open bar cost $ 4.31 too??? I emailed again and again and tried to get them to do the right thing. I do not understand how legally they can sell a food product that’s bad and then not refund in full and force someone to pay to send it back. They would not refund or exchange until receiving the bad product. So basically I spent $ 16.31 for air.

This is going to be a mixed review because I absolutely LOVE their Paleo bars. I am not a big fan of the flavors that I originally thought might be my favorite, mint & cookies and cream, but they are still ok. I have ordered the variety packs to get each flavor. My favorite are glazed donut, cinnamon roll, coconut shred, and caramel. If you have tried low sugar/​high carb products you will appreciate the great taste and wonderful texture of these bars. If you are new to the low sugar/​high carb market, I could understand how it might not be what you were expecting, For medical reasons, I had to drastically reduce my sugar intake, while also increasing my fiber and protein. I have tried many many products and this one has become a staple for me. I was so happy to find something that satisfies a sweet craving while providing lots of protein and fiber both. That being said about the wonderful product…
The shipping is a joke. I have a few other products I would love to try but they can’t seem to get the bugs worked out on their shipping issues. I live in the country (way out) and USPS is the worst possible way to receive deliveries. I am into my third order placed on 2÷3÷16 (each order having it’s own shipping issues). On this order, ²⁄₅ I received a confirmation, and on ²⁄₈ I received a tracking number that my package would be shipped 2^nd day USPS on ²⁄₁₀. On ²⁄₁₀ I received another email stating it had left and should arrive to me by ²⁄₁₂. The tracking number that they provided still hasn’t left the store as of today 2÷16÷16. I sent 2 emails asking for updates with no response. So I called today and the girl answering the phone, Katie, said that they had encountered some problems in production and my shipment had not left yet. I am absolutely not upset at all that something has come up in production. I am upset that no one would answer my emails about food getting lost in our postal service for 6 days. Communication makes all the difference in the world. If their shipping information was dependable, I would absolutely rate them a 5 star business. I sure hope they work this out (UPS and Fed Ex are much more reliable).
I am a huge fan of their product and was excited about trying more items, but it doesn’t do any good to make a good product that you can’t get delivered.

Terrible service. Bars take forever to arrive, will never order again. I live in California and most items from San Diego arrive in 2 days! I gave them 4 chances. Cancelled three of the four orders for the Paleo Bars. The ones I did receive aren’t great. Don’t waste your time.

Don’t waste your time. I, as well, fell for the Facebook ad with fake comments. Surprise! They delete all negative comments or questions about their orders and don’t allow any reviews on the page. If only they responded to calls and e-​mails like they do to Facebook comments. It’s been a week past when they said the item would ship and it hasn’t. You call and the ‘mailbox is full.’ I kept calling and finally talked with someone. She said the ‘machine malfunctioned last week but it’s up and running now.’ I asked why I was not notified and she said, «We were just aware of the malfunction at the end of last week and haven’t had to time notify everyone.» Mmmmk. Perhaps the worst customer service ever. Opened a Paypal dispute. If you still want to give them a try, definitely pay thru PayPal to cover yourself.

I should have been wary when I was told my order would arrive in just over two weeks. I went with it… I was excepting fresh made bars as the reason, I was told, for the long shipping time is that the bars were made to order. WRONG!
Inedible! Disgusting! I took one bite and threw the rest out.
They must spend all their money on facebook advertising and hiring bots to fill their facebook page. They continually show up as Sponsored and when I go to comment, my comments are always removed!

Bought the coconut paleo bread for almost $ 12 and could not eat more than one bite. I have been eating gluten free for over 2 decades and never tasted anything so nasty.

Ordered the almond fudge paleo bars. It took 3 weeks to get here. I finally received my order today. They are not good! They are hard as a rock and covered in oil. I thought I may break a tooth. Going in the trash.

i ordered the Paleo Sample pack — and they are honestly the worst tasting protein bar I have ever had. I couldn’t even finish the first bite. They are expensive but if they had been edible I wouldn’t have cared.
I’m sending them in back because they are not fit for human (or animal).

I ordered almond bread, cinn raisin bread, coconut bread, waffles, almond crackers, and coconut cereal without even thinking to check reviews. Seemed legit, ingredients sounded good, was just excited to add bread back to my keto life. I did the 6 items for free shipping, total came to about $ 56.
Bread and waffles arrived with loads of moisture inside bags, froze immediately as instructed on the box. Prior to freezing, I taste tested all items as I was so excited to have them. BIG MISTAKE. Everything smelled so off, I was instantly nauseated… a weird vinegar or chemical smell. Disgusting. yet I soldiered on. I was picking EGG SHELLS out of one of my loaves, so quality is not a priority here. I took out one slice of each bread, one small piece of waffle, one cracker, and some of the cereal out to taste anyway. INEDIBLE. I choked on the bread, could not get it down (no honestly, had to run to sink and drink water out of first thing I could grab, a measuring cup, not time to find a cup). Every single item tasted TERRIBLE. Spoiled, or packed with chemicals, I dont know what… but im still grossed out.
Going to bed last night, I suddenly felt very nauseated. Continued all night until this morning, stopped short of vomiting but it was touch and go for a good portion of the early am.
Didnt make connection and decided to start again. Despite being in freezer overnight, breads were STILL MOIST and smell was stronger. No thanks. Moving on. Waffle smelled ok, so i heated up to eat. Once heated… no way. Smelled off, rubbery, not appetizing. Listened to my instinct and threw it away.
i then came to google, and WOW… i Wish Id had thought of googling BEFORE wasting my money. I had no idea. Im so mad at myself, Im the queen of internet research, but for some reason didnt occur to me this time. I trusted them. WTF was I thinking?
After reading story after story and article after article… I threw everything in this morning’s trash. $ 56 down the drain. Oh well.
If you value your health and your appetite, shop elsewhere. Glad I didnt share with my four yr old, because this would’ve been a much less calm review. Consider yourself warned.

I’ve never eaten crayons or candles, but I imagine this is how they’d taste. With a dash of salt — I almost forgot. The only one that went so far as to smell like its purported flavor was Caramel. Funny how each bar was also dry despite glistening all over with oil. I do appreciate their not tasting sweet, and they’re slightly more filling than they seem. Sadly, that’s it for positives.

Just ordered a box of the Paleo Protein Bars/​Variety. Glad I didn’t read the reviews before I ordered online or I would not have ordered them based on what I read. We received ours all in tact, nothing melted and got them within 2 days. We do live only about 1 ½ hours away so maybe it was easier to get them to us. We loved them! very tasty and will fill you up as a meal replacement. Seems like most of the 5 star ratings other than mine resulted when folks went to the store. Since it’s a great time of year to visit South County beaches, looks like a weekend field trip to Oceanside is in order to replentish our Paleo Protein Bars. I’ll advise what I find in the «Brick & Mortar»

This is an update to my earlier post in March. A colleague had asked if I’d ever heard of the Paleo bars from Julian Bakery. I told her NOT to buy, but that I had some to give her since I never managed to try any after the gross glazed donut one in March. She came to me 2 days ago and showed me what she encountered with the chocolate brownie flavor. MOLD. Like someone else has already posted, the expiration date is in Feb 2016. This is amazing this place is still in business. Who is posting all these ridiculous Facebook praise comments about these bars?
I sent them an email that day letting them know (with the pictures) and gmail has sent me 2 messages saying they’ll continue to try and send the message, but currently the mailbox is full. Hard to believe, but that is what it says…

I wish I would have read reviews here before buying the paleo variety protein bars. I saw great reviews online, and like others have said, those must have been paid reviews. I just tried the glazed donut and about barfed. The consistency is horrible and I had to force myself to finish it, due to the expensive price. It was just horrible and judging by comments here, I can only assume the other 5 in the box will taste the same. If not, I will amend my review. In the meanwhile, I’ll alternate my consumption with Quest, as I know a good thing already with those. Read less

Completely dissatisfied with my recent online paleo bar purchase. First, I had to call to remind your company to fill my order after about a week of waiting for some kind of confirmation. Second, the bars were mediocre in flavor. Not really similar to the item that they were supposed to be. I just tried the glazed donut. Not glazed not donutty at all. Lastly, I also opened the fudge brownie bar and it was covered in mold. I had called and left a message on your customer service line with expiration date questions and no one even returned that. The product is mediocre and customer service is lackluster.

For the love of everything holy, please do not patron this business unless you don’t mind being lied to or if you have all the time in the world.
My wife and i ordered some Paleo Protein Bars, Paleo Waffles, and Paleo wraps. 2 weeks go by and no delivery. We contact Julian Bakery and they informed us that they cannot ship yet because the waffles need to thaw out (2 weeks for waffles to thaw out??? where are they shipping from??? The North Pole???).
Now another 3 days go by and still no delivery, we contact them again. This time one of their employees inform us that they will be shipping out that day. 3 days later no delivery, not even a tracking #.
We are going on 3 freakin weeks now. The cost is already very expensive and they cannot deliver the items ordered within 3 bloody weeks. We contact them again and this time they promise it will be shipping in the next day or 2. So this time they are true to their word and we receive the items 3 days later. We notice that the shipment is packed with and ice pack and the waffles are still partially frozen… WTF!!! What happened to the waffles needing to be defrosted before they ship. Not only that but the paleo protein bars we ordered seemed melted and disformed (see my pics i uploaded). The wraps have about half of them torn in half even though they are sealed in the pack.
It really seems like they have nothing in stock and source everything we order online from other suppliers. Why else would it take 3 weeks for items to be delivered?
Does this sound like an experience you want to go through? If you do… whats wrong with you!!!
As you can tell I am pretty miffed, mainly because we are paying an inflated premium price for the items, we were lied to the entire time, and the quality of the delivered product is something you would find at the corner liquor store. We never received an apology or a valid and truthful explanation. It was pretty much them telling us to bend over and take it up the wazoo.
F.U. Julian Bakery, We will never shop at any of your stores again. May God have mercy on your souls.

Wish I had read these reviews before purchasing. I ordered the 6 sample bar pack on Feb 1. The bars took 2+ weeks to arrive (I left town Feb 13 and they still hadn’t arrived). When I finally went to try one, I open it and it’s all moldy. Check the expiration date, Feb 1. I checked the expire date of the rest of the bars, they are late January or Feb 1, the date of my order. So they knowingly sent me expired bars.
Better yet, I send them a polite email. I’m still upset so I try phoning and left a message. They don’t allow Facebook wall posts on their page (gee wonder why) so I commented on some of their posts about my dilemma. No response to any of these and it has been several days.
Save your money.

It’s not mistakes that define us… it’s how we recover from them…
I ordered my bars on January 4^th and still have not received them. Initially, they replied to my Facebook message claiming equipment errors. I understood… although the lack of ANY communication made me nervous.
A week later… no communication and still no apology for their lack of customer service skills or product.
I recently posted a disheartened message (not mean) on their Facebook page and it was immediately blocked. They did, however, reply that I should receive my order any day… which was 6 days ago.
I now have two theories…
Either the postal service doesn’t like them so they are deliberately holding their orders up…
or they are full of it and need to learn the value in good HONEST communication and customer service.
No apology + No communication = Zero customers

This review is not for the brick and mortar location, but rather my online experience. I will update when/​if I get to try the Paleo Protein bars with how they taste.
I placed an order on ¹⁄₅ for the protein bar variety pack. Within a day, I received an email with shipping information. On 1/​22, I still had not received the bars, so I checked my tracking information. Nothing. So the label had been created, but nothing was shipped yet. After calling, I was told that the order would ship ¹⁄₂₆.
HERE’s THE KICKER! Last night, I received an email that some of the flavors were in fact manufactured with cashews aferall. NUTS! In a nut free bar.
I’m hoping that they arrive and are delicious and worth the wait. But honestly, the customer service is poor and lacks communication. When they fell behind, the order page should have stated they were behind and on backorder.
If they haven’t arrived by Friday. I’ll call AmEx and let them handle it by reversing the charge. If I do receive them, I’ll update here with how they taste.
