Frank’s Taxi

After an already very hectic travel schedule to Newark, I really didn’t appreciate my driver — car number 143 –giving me grief because my fare was only $ 15. He complained the whole trip that I was his last fare for the night and was upset that it was not an airport to the city fare but rather a local one. He went on and on that he had waited three hours for such a low fare, not even aware that I had just waited six hours for delayed flight after flight which made catching a connecting Amtrak nearly impossible at 3 AM. Can’t you just appreciate your job? Or at least not make an attempt at guilting me for not meeting your $ 50 expectation.
I could go on, but 3 AM is rough. Bad service. Bad. Good. Night.

I have used Franks taxi for three years now. The drivers are always pleasant (some more than others). The prices are very reasonable and I would recommend them to anyone. I always call ahead as far as possible to let them know when I need a pickup, and 90% of the time they are early or right on time.

I use Frank’s all the time, they are always on tine. I find the drivers very friendly. I recommend using this company if you need cab service.

Dishonest, demanded $ 10 even though the meter said $ 5. Tried to talk me into driving across town saying that ramada inn charges $ 180 per night. I’m filing complaint with city of Spokane.

This is a disgraceful excuse for a taxi company. The dispatcher always speaks in a condescending tone and is very unfriendly/​rude and sometimes just hangs up in the middle of a call, all of the cars are DISGUSTING, unsanitary, smell most of the time and are run down almost falling apart. Also most of the drivers are rude/​unfriendly and very strange people (one of them is always tweaked out like he’s on drugs or something). Very run down and unprofessional company.

I’ve used these guys 5 or 6 times now and never once had a bad experience. They usually show up about 5 – 10 minutes early. Once, they were running about 10 minutes late — but the girl in dispatch called to warn me about the lateness, and even called me back a few minutes later to keep me updated on the driver’s ETA. I’m someone who gets very nervous before traveling and is always stressed about the idea of being late, and it’s nice that I’ve been able to count on these guys and not have to worry.
Their cabs are not always the cleanest (they should really check the backseat after each passenger, I once noticed an empty Corona bottle back there) but for a quick trip to the train station or to the airport, it’s not the biggest deal.
All in all they’re reliable and trust worthy, which is all I ask for.

It’s one thing to have garbage cars for taxis, it’s another to pick us up with no AC, then transfer us into another car with no AC on a 95′ hot summer day. Our trip to LGA was not comfortable and we will be using Über next time.

There isn’t much public transit around here, so if you don’t have a car and want an alternative to biking and walking, Frank’s Taxi is your best bet.
They show up reliably on time, and often early, for phone bookings. If you walk into the office at Oceanside LIRR you might have to wait for a car to become available, especially at night, and during rain and snow. The only times I really wanted to take a cab from the station were when it was pouring rain or heavy snow, when the wait time was going to be longer than it would take to walk! And they raised the rates. Fuggedaboudit.
Other drawbacks; they only take cash, and they charge per passenger. Also, if there are a lot of people that want to go in roughly the same direction from the station, you’re expected to share a car, stopping at each passenger’s destination along the way, and it’s no cheaper.
On the plus side, all of the drivers speak English, and they have plenty to teach about local history/​politics.

horrible service at the base … they yap more than work, never smile or friendly and make you wait to share a cabs when the available cabbies are standing around staring at the walls. where’s the customer service?!

they are good for one thing… trips to the train station other than that expect to wait a good 40 mins for a cab if they feel like showing up or slowing down at all to see if your there for the ride ! i’ve been personally passed by and ignored left on the street mid day having to call a cab from another town to pick me up, thats ok because now i use them on a weekly basis ! and btw if your at the airport and call them… that will be a good hour –hour and a half wait time ! too bad no other cab company would open up in Oceanside other wise they would be gone !

I called ahead for a cab because I was on the railroad and knew it would be raining so I didn’t want to make my 15 minute walk home. I also don’t wear heels when I commute but today had an appointment so I wore heels as well. I was told no need to call ahead and to just walk over (meanwhile I was on the opposite end of the platform and told him I would prefer a cab to just be on that end for me.) he tells me that I have to walk over and he can’t have a cab wait. When I get to the location he says it’s going to be a 15 – 20 minute wait and they don’t accept cards for less than $ 10 so even though the date was $ 6 he still had to charge $ 10 and it couldn’t be the tip amount. I decided to walk in the pouring rain and high heels instead of give this man my business.

Felt like I needed to leave a review, since the only person who’s said anything about Frank’s on here seemed to unfortunately have a bad experience. That’s a total drag, but luckily I’ve had nothing but great ones with this company. I’ve always been picked up really promptly, and my drivers have consistently been friendly without getting into «cabbie wont stop talking my ear off» mode. It seems Franks has really stepped it’s game up since the first review!

We reserved our cab when we booked our flight, Frank’s confirmed the day before and got us to the airport on time with courteous service. On our return home, cab was outside waiting for us. It doesn’t get better than that! I wish I could say as much for Jet Blue’s service

Pretty unreliable if you need them to pick you up at a certain time. I’ve missed plenty of trains because of them coming late and even almost missed a flight. And this isn’t a few minutes late but more like 15+ min late. Unfortunately they are the only guys in town, and using out of town cabs are twice as expensive.
The only redeeming quality is that they are pretty cheap. Even airport fares are cheaper than most other places. The only problem is whether you’ll get there
Overall, I’d say avoid if possible.
