This shop has always been very good at communicating and getting back to me.
I’ve taken both of my cars and they did a good job servicing both.
Would recommend as a good clean friendly shop to get your cars serviced at.

Nothing but great service and prices, so far!
First came in a few months ago for a routine oil change and than again a few days ago for a checkup of electrical system that was tampered with by another auto place that SUCKED!
Conovers staff is always friendly, warm and courteous. My car is in great shape and I’ll be back for my 60,000 miles service.

Your vehicle is in great hands here at Conover Tires! Took mine in early this morning to get all four wheels aligned in preparation for an Über inspection I had later in the day. Daniel and his team were all smiles and engaged in making me feel welcome when I stepped in. Daniel quickly identified what service I needed and was able to quote me a price immediately. If you haven’t seen customer service, you’ll see it here. I informed him that my brakes were in need of replacing and sure enough he diagnosed the problem and instantly gave me a quote to cover replacing the fronts. Just honest and professional all around. My vehicle ended up passing its inspection and I don’t think I could have done it without this team.
If you’re planning to wait around while your vehicle is being serviced, Conover Tires has a comfortable waiting area equipped with sofas and tables for your convenience, as well as a TV for your viewing pleasure. Attached to the waiting area they also have an eatery with a selection of beverages and dishes for purchase! If you do need to be somewhere they do provide a courtesy shuttle free-​of-​charge to you going from the shop and back.

I have been going to Conover to service my vehicles for well over five years, and I am extremely satisfied with the service provided, so I always refer my friends and family to them. It is a family operated business. Dan and his son, Luke are men of high integrity, so without a doubt, I can trust them with the care of my vehicles. I highly recommend Conover.

This place is incredible. We’ve definitely found our local, go-​to mechanic, and that is a good feeling to have. There’s nothing like having a trustworthy mechanic to lean on. We’ve been searching for a while now.
Customer service is of the utmost importance here. They really take care of you. Great communication, pics of your car as it is being worked on, they even took me back to see my car’s problem in person. All of this is very reassuring.
Daniel is a straight forward dude. Appears to be a very good boss, employees look happy and are respectful and well trained.
The free cookies at the end were a nice touch and something that definitely leaves an impression. How many other mechanics give you homemade, delicious cookies? None that I know of. What a differentiator! And they were delicious.
I also was very comfortable in their adjacent coffee shop/​lounge. Cable tv, clean comfortable couches, TV trays for laptops and iced lattes, ice cream and other snacks for sale. That really made waiting the short time I had to wait very easy. Bathroom was very clean as well.
The price of the work done on my car was very fair, but with the great service they supply and professional approach, who cares at that point?!? I was less concerned about price because the experience was so pleasant and I knew the work was done right.
I cannot recommend this place enough.

We’ll start with the good and and end with the bad. Yes, despite their exceptional rating, they have some poor points to consider.
The good:
They have exceptional customer service and very quick turn around times. I placed a quote request in Unilocal and someone (the owner and a the manager) got back to me the next business day. Day of service was scheduled quickly and very flexible. The manager is an exceptionally nice guy.
The bad:
A misunderstanding from the beginning led to a light estimate. A paper estimate was never given at drop off (partially my fault). To clarify, I asked for a four brake quote and was given a front only quote, which I thought was a reasonable four brake quote.
I only ended up with a front brake job when I expected all four to be replaced. The culprit, the parts (OEM) were highly marked up. No kidding, right, but the numbers worked out like this — $ 140/​rotor and $ 100/​pad + $ 130 in labor. This is a 100% markup from retail. I can expect up to 50% on the high end… But 100%! Revise your costing system please.
To top it off, they ended up damaging my front wheels. They did this even after I told him to be careful, as Discount Tire had damaged them the past. He did offer to cover the costs of repair though (really, a nice guy). I am still left with scuffed wheels for the time being and the logistics of the repair.
Ultimately, I think the friendly service and schedule flexibility isn’t free. It’s paid for with high markups and fast, careless craftsmanship.

Well where do I begin…
First off, from the moment I called I was greeted with sincerity and excellent customer service, including an estimate and good time to come in.
Later that day I made my way in to the shop. At first glance you can tell that the owner Dan and Co. take great pride I their business, from the VERY comfortable waiting room/​café to the tidy restroom and service desk.
I was helped mostly by Gary who was real pro.
I informed them that I had train to catch later and they got me out as promised on time.
I left and noticed the car was ridding a bit rough so I contacted them a few days later when they re-​opened and I was at work in down town San Diego. Due to the fact they were concerned about my possible safety, Gary came all the way down to my work and inspected the vehicle!
What!?!
Now that’s amazing customer service.
He informed me as to the reason why it was running a bit rough, (uneven tire wear as I only got ²⁄₄ tires replaced and refused to get an alignment… my bad really) and asked me to bring it in a little later that day after work.
I did, and they completed the repair as I should have done as they had suggested it in the beginning.
They don’t bully and they most certainly don’t haggle.
I will recommend this shop to anyone who’s looking to support a local and competent business!

I looooove Conover’s! Honest! Dependable! I could go on and on! They have a great family friendly atmosphere. The waiting room is so nice and comfortable that when I come in with my 5 and 3 year old boys they actually don’t want to leave and ask to come back. We get snacks from the café and they always give the kids some fresh made cookies when we leave. We are about to move from the area and I WILL be making the drive to Conover’s to work on my car. It’s hard to find a place like this!

Daniel and his team did a great job on my F350 and provided excellent service with a ride home and pickup after the work was done. They have a very comfortable waiting area and food service. My brakes were way past due and I had a trip that I had to make with the truck over the weekend, Conover got the job done and even fixed my tire that had picked up a screw somewhere at no charge. Very friendly staff and great service, I highly recommend them.

Determined not to wait 2 hours for a simple flat fix at Costco or Discount, I stumbled upon this place and couldn’t be happier. Luke greeted me with a smile, showed me to an incredibly comfortable waiting lounge, fixed my flat, gave me some cookies, and sent me on my way. Total wait time: 15 minutes. Total cost: free.
An overall great experience. I have no idea what they charge for tires and other services; but, when the time comes, I’ll definitely be back.

I’ve been at this shop for everything on my car for a while now. They work on all kinds of vehicles including BMWs with better attention to detail, price and service than the dealerships. All of these guys go beyond courteous service with quality work and honest prices. They really take good care of you! I’m so impressed with everyone from Dan to Luke to the head mechanic, Gary who is so skilled and knowledgable!!’ The whole team is so fluid working together to ensure you are taken care of and happy but best of all, it feels more like family helping and taking care of family.
This will be the only place you will take your car once you experienced what I have. These guys are the best, hands down!!! Thank you all, Thank you, Gary! You are the best!!!

Went to this place because of its outstanding Unilocal review. Needed new brake pads and my rotors fixed. Employees there were very knowledgeable and transparent with the issues and price estimate.
During a FREE inspection, they text me pictures of what they found wrong, though it was hard to identify or understand exactly what I was looking at, it was still a cool feature that benefits people who understand car parts.
Overall very honest work and people. Seemed a tad on the pricey side, $ 550+ for 2 brake pads and 4 rotors smoothed out, but definitely top notch quality and work. Homemade cookies they gave out very a nice plus too :)

Honest guys. Removed a drill bit from my tire and patched it, and wouldn’t even charge me. Will definitely be back for future car care needs.

I scoured Unilocal reviews for a couple of weeks to find a shop for our cars after having a horrible experience with another shop in the area. Absolutely the best tire shop I’ve been to!
You’re greeted as soon as you walk through the door and everyone is quite pleasant. I called early one morning and they were able to squeeze me in for brakes and rotars the same day. They’re comparably priced to others in town, but their customer service and atmosphere of the shop sets them apart. They have an excellent lounge with plush, reclining furniture and a made-​to-​order beverage/​snack bar for the customers. I was out in the amount of time promised and couldn’t be more satisfied. We’ll be bringing both of our vehicles back here from now on.

I took my car in last week because I thought I was having a brake issue, first they were squeaking then we heard a weird noise and assumed it was the brakes. Conover had my car and said that everything looked great and perfectly safe. They gave my car back with no charge at all. WHO DOES THAT NOW A DAYS?! My husband, myself, and the people we have already told (because it is such a genuine, old-​school way of building trust — not common anymore) were so impressed that they didn’t charge me even though they had my car for a while, and had to do labor to check it out. As usual, Conover impressed me. Go visit Luke and the team at Conover, you won’t regret it. Best service ever! You feel like family bringing your vehicle in.

This place has an awesome Café attached to it as a waiting lounge. The Café is currently closed during my visit but it smells so nice in the lounge area. Free soft, chocolate-​chip cookies baked fresh in the morning for customers too. $ 99 for a years worth of alignments, but maintenance is average pricing. Took about 45 minutes for the alignment, there was no wait to get my car in. Location is a little hidden. Customer service was great! I recommend to all.

HANDS DOWN the best tire shop I’ve ever been to!
I’m on my 17^th vehicle so I’ve had my share of trips to the shops. I Unilocaled for some solid places around me and by the reviews I had to try Conover. Glad I did. I called them yesterday, even telling them I knew it was a shot in the dark to get an alignment first thing the next morning. They said no problem, they’d squeeze me in and have me out in 1/1.5 hrs. I jumped on it.
I arrived this morning and the two guys working (I should of gotten their names but I suck in the morning without coffee) were extremely friendly and got me checked in within one minute of being there. Their café is LEGIT! Super comfy couches to chill on, large flat screen TV, and wifi. The café didn’t open till 9 so I can’t comment on it, as they had me out the door in UNDER 40 minutes.
The alignment on my Taco was $ 99 that included a 1 yr warranty to come back as many times as I need… regardless if I hit a pothole, curb, or launch my truck while offroading. Best part… they didn’t try to upsell me on anything else.
Top notch customer service, competitive pricing WITH warranties and out the door in lightning time. There is no reason to go anywhere else. Thanks guys!

My first time having to replace tires in the city of San Diego and I think I made a great choice coming to Conover Tires, Wheels and Service.
Firstly, I came here on a whim; but mostly because of all the positive Unilocal reviews and ratings. Secondly, my ONLY complaint that I have about my experience has nothing to do with the company itself, but moreso with Google Maps who couldn’t give me accurate directions to their shop. Hah!
[Just remember to make the turn at the light and you’ll find the road to the shop]
As for my experience here, I am completely satisfied! The mere fact that I could make a call and come in 30 minutes (short notice) and only wait 15 minutes to have my car serviced is impressive to me. I’ve attempted to call and make appointments to other tire shops and none would accept a short-​notice appointment. I was always offered to come in at a later time or date.
The entire servicing took under 1 hour and that was also very satisfactory.
Their pricing is competitive and fair and for me, on point. Their waiting area, amenities and conveniences are justified in the total cost of my service purchase. There’s a comfy couch, additional seating, television, water fountain and a café with healthy snacks, sandwiches and additional beverages. I also think that having huge, free, home-​made, cookies for customers is the icing on the cake.
Overall, the service here is impeccable and shows their 20 years of experience is a proven track record for their patrons; for which I am now one!

Like many Southern Californians, I’m a transplant from one those cold, distant, northern states that the news casters go on and on about each time they open their mouth. You know, the ones where blizzards engulf the land so completely that a person would swear that the next ice age is upon them or the ones with thunder storms that rage day and night, making you wonder if there is any other atmospheric condition besides grey and drizzly.
My first and only visit to San Diego was in 1995 while in between semesters at Oregon State. And those two short weeks of vacation were all that it took for me to fall in love with the state and the area. When school was over I knew exactly where I wanted to live — San Diego.
My dad, who is no stranger to auto repair and ran a small repair shop back home in Alaska would always say that ‚“if you can’t fix it yourself, then you had better damn well know where the best shop is no matter where you live”. I’ve never forgotten those words. So when I moved to Oceanside, the first thing I did was to ask around and figure out where to take my car.
Where do the locals take their cars? The answer was the same from many folks — Conover Tires.
Of course back in 1996, the shop wasn’t called Conover Tires. And even though many of the faces have changed since ’96 there is one face that hasn’t changed by much, other than to perhaps get a little wiser — the owner Dan Conover who is one of the nicest people that I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting.
Since that first year here in North County, I’ve had almost every possible service done by the crew at Conover Tires. Everything from simple oil changes to major engine and transmission overhauls. The thing that has always stood out for me and the reason why I keep coming back is their honesty and dedication to providing the best service at a fair price.
Are they the cheapest? No, you can always find cheaper work.
Are they the fastest? No, not always.
But this is auto repair that we are talking about, not fast food from some burger joint. Do you really want cheap parts and sloppy fast work? I hope not, because I’ll probably see you at some point out on the freeway and I would trust that your vehicle is safe and road worthy.
Conover Tires is good work at a fair price. And yes, they have a great turn around time, but they also make sure that the work is solid. In fact, I know from talking with the crew that Dan test drives a lot of the vehicles himself which speaks volumes to his dedication to providing great service and making sure that the work is done right.
The are volumes of things that I could say about all of the great work that I’ve had done there over the nearly 20 years that I’ve been taking my vehicles to them, but the thing that stands out for me is there kindness and willingness to go the extra mile to help you.
For example, there have been more than a dozen instances since I’ve been using their shop that I didn’t have a ride when I dropped off my car and had to go back to work. In a true costumer service spirit, in each one of those cases, Dan’s crew provided me with a ride not only dropping me off at work, but also coming back to pick me up.
Not very many other folks provide that kind of service.
Yes, the big dealerships give you loaner cars or pick up service, but Conover Tires isn’t a dealership. And those dealerships charge you on the back end with higher overall costs.
The other factor that keeps me coming back is their dedication to solid work and fair pricing. For example, last year I bought a 1972 Scout 4×4 as a restore project. My first stop was Conover Tires.
Do they specialize in older vehicles? No, not really, but they have talented staff who approach auto repair like Van Gogh did a blank canvas. So I figured that they would do a better job than anyone else.
They didn’t disappoint. They delivered.
In fact, they have exceeded all expectations that I have had with this project. There have even been a number of instances where I know that on their own time, with no additional charge to me, they have gone out to search for parts that just weren’t available anywhere. In other instances, they have had to fabricate parts, creating a work around because there simple was no other option.
Is Conover Tires prefect? No, of course not.
They have made mistakes here and there over the years, but whenever mistakes have happened they took accountability for them and squared them away. Great service. Great people. What more could you ask for in a repair shop?
