The food was very tasty and the price was very decent. This is where the positive comments end. The waiters/waitresses are lazy and want you to give them your plates. Usually, at a normal buffet, waiters/waitresses would take your plates away.

Horrible service. They kept rushing us out and followed an old couple that kept going back for food. As we were walking in we saw a man and a worker arguing, and they kept eyeing us because they wanted us to leave. We were practically kicked out and it was not closing time yet.

I love their Jalepeno Chicken and their noodles. Not a bad place on Sundays, it’s your typical buffet but the food is decent. Make sure to go at lunch time because that’s when the food is the freshest.

I work at the Travelodge across the parking lot, I’ve heard many complaints and compliments. The walls had nasty stains, I could tell the food wasn’t fresh. Made my husband sick. I had a gift card paper that had 13.97. The man only took off 12 something, like I wouldn’t notice. I won’t be going back. Chinese place with pizza and French fries on Buffett. I swear the pizza was frozen pizza from the store.

We go to China Star quite frequently and we have never had a bad experience… quite the contrary as the food is delicious and it’s not like some of the other Chinese buffets in the county where they don’t speak English and act all grumpy like DMV employees. The staff are friendly and courteous and wow, fast with refilling drinks before you can ask them, taking away soiled plates and they have lots of patience as I have personally witnessed little kids throwing food everywhere(on the floor, on the table, even on the window) from their seats with the parents not paying any mind to it. The restrooms could use an overhaul as they are quite aged, but they are kept clean. The food is kept fresh and re-stocked quite often. Reasonable prices that are pretty decent in today’s economy.

Lucky me. I found a cockroach near my plate at China star supper buffet. We told the waiter and he spoke to the cashier. She came over and handed us a free meal gift certificate. Yeah, not sure it’s gonna happen. I was here more than 1 year ago and I had seen the same thing. I was hoping that by now the problem would have been solved. The cashier came over apologized and said they have someone who comes and kills them, but there’s not much they can do. Yeah, I’m not buying that. If a cockroach is in my table. What else is roaming around in the chicken where the food is being prepared.

Don’t eat here if you have children, it’s not so clean and the high chairs are gross, I sat my baby in it and took her out because the belts were so sticky that I had to take her out and sit her on my lap. The waiter looked embarrassed because I guess the look on my face could explain my disappointment in their food. Everything tasted old and stale, salad bar not catching to the eye and the only thing ok was the hot and sour soup.

So, here’s my experience on this place. The owners are crooks. I went there with my family and my good friend was also taking his family there. We had no intentions of sitting together(since my 23 month old twins required so much attention), but just because we were talking to one another, the cashier charged us 8% extra gratuity without even informing us! It was suppose to be $ 12.98 a person and we tried charging me 42.50 for me, my wife, my 8 yr old son and my 2 twins. When I brought it to her attention, she said it was because we are more than a party of 6. I was like this is a buffet, seriously!!! Greedy!!! I told her we are not planning on sitting with my friends and when she sat us, she intentionally sat us on opposite sides of the restaurant. How rude!!! Another thing, the workers there don’t speak English, it’s almost like they are indentured servants(those poor people from China that come to the U. S. agreeing to work off there debts to there snake heads). They take away their passports, $$$, so they can’t escape they’re evil clutches!!! Anyways, I’m calling the Health Dept. on Monday. The carpet is super dirty(sticky), the tables, chairs and kids high chairs are dirty, greasy and sticky!!! When I went to the restroom the floor was so slippery(a lawsuit waiting to happen) and there was graffiti everywhere. There was a guy that had food poison a few weeks ago from this place. I didn’t want to believe it because there were a few good reviews, but now I can see that happening. My first time and last time eating at this filthy place!!! Please, beware of unsanitary conditions!!! PS. Did I mention the flies that were on the food. Yes, flies!!!

I absolutely love this place. I’m sorry for the people that don’t like it they must have had a bad experience. I love all of the food and it’s almost always fresh. I would give 5 stars but if you ask for napkins they will give you like 3.

Horrible customer service not one once was I asked if I wanted a refill even after I deliberately sat my v cup on the end of my table. Not to mention the food poisoning I got from eating the seafood. If only I could give 0 stars…

The buffet it’s not priced good enough for what they serve. They barely serve anything and charge $ 12 a person. There was not once a waiter or waitress came to refill my drink. If this was my first time eating Chinese food, i would never eat it again. I would not recommend this Chinese buffet to anybody! I will not eat here ever again! Rating: 0 stars.

I read all the reviews before going and still wanted to try this place for myself with an open mind. It most definitely smells like crab as soon as you walk in. The price seems high for a mediocre amount of selections, all mediocre food. The green beans, crab legs, and jalapeño chicken were all overcooked to the state of being dry and loosing flavor. Also, the sushi was old and had hard dry rice on the edges. I’m not sure how all of this was possibly for a busy Saturday night.

Not huge selection like West Buffet, but the food usually has good turnover and doesn’t taste old. I don’t like that they don’t take Discover card, but lunch price is good. Price for kids is too much. Don’t come here looking to satisfy a sushi craving… place is weak on sushi.

I went in there at 9:15 on Thursday night.(15 minutes before they close). We asked the main lady in charge If they were still bringing out fresh food and if they would be kicking us out in 15 minutes and she said more food was coming and that we could take our time. No new food was made… then at 9:45 she came and asked us if she should make more food. We said no cause we had been picking at the scraps that were left. I guess no new food coming out means close the restaurant. cause within 30 seconds, all the food was gone and water was spraying everywhere. I couldn’t even eat desert I would have asked for my money back but she might think I’m trying to rob her Horrible service Horrible food No one speaks English(even cashier) Dirty

Very good. And hands down the best orange chicken I’ve ever had surprisingly! The food seemed fresh unlike the Sun Hing! I recommend this buffet. The waitress was so attentive and kept my cup filled at all times. Sweet lady. I tipped her well. Just wish they’d have a bit more of a selection because I know they’d be even more of a hit other than that food is good

I’ll give this place five stars where as I would usually give this kind of place four stars. The reason being is because the other reviews on this establishment are ridiculous. If you want top of the line Chinese food then go to China because you won’t get it here. For this being a Chinese buffet it is really good. $ 15.00 a person is a great price for it. The staff is really nice and seem to love to work there. Also the food is always being brought out so it is usually fresh and hot. The place does not smell like crab legs but the crab legs are better then most other buffets. I ate just about everything there and it all tasted fresh and was cooked very well. I loved the orange chicken there. Usually orange chicken tastes gross from a buffet. All in all the experience was really good and I’ll be going back for a quick dinner in the future.

I would pass by China Star when driving up the 5 to see my girlfriend, so this past weekend, when I picked her up from the train stop at Mission San Juan Capistrano and we were getting hungry heading south, I suggested this place. We got the lunch price($ 8.99, including a drink) — for the most part, the food was OK. Surprisingly, the egg drop soup was one of the best I’d ever had… I normally go for the hot and sour soup, but China Star’s egg drop soup totally outshone it. Their baked mussels were really good(they weren’t swimming in too much cheese), and Kathy liked their baked crab dish. However, their lo mein was bland(as well as the sushi… and strangely, the shrimp on the salad bar); the peaches looked… well, the less said about them, the better; and no kung pao chicken(there was Szechuan chicken, but I was too full to try it). Still, a solid 3-star for that egg drop soup, the shu mai and dumplings, and the cleanliness of the place(though it took a while for the servers to refill our drinks). I can see myself giving the place a go on my way back from Diamond Bar.
