Blue Girl Moving & Storage

Shirley seems like a lovely woman, but we had an awful experience and there was no accountability. Our move started just after she supposedly sold the business. The movers packed everything OK, but broke a table glass and completely underestimated the packing materials that were needed (costing us several $ 100 additional dollars in overpriced, last minute packing materials) and they also underestimated the number of PODS we would need.
What made it all worse though is that they packed our 3^rd generation dining room table feet down — so when we unloaded we found the table was destroyed. When I called Blue Girl, Shirley told me the company she sold went out of business. Sorry, she said, but she was not responsible. Oddly though, she answered it Blue Girl. She explained that she was starting the company up again. Add insult to injury, she then told me her new partner is the guy who was the lead on our move. REALLY??? You just can’t make this stuff up.

Can I give zero stars? Just found out they went out of business, those crooks. They still owe me money for the sham of a move we had. Showed up 5 hours late, didn’t bring ANY equipment! Had to use our dollies, our blankets, etc. AWFUL. Unreal. So they get to just go out of business and people get screwed. Real great.

So when you call — request Kevin, Phil and his other guy (so sorry I couldn’t remember the name — I’m terrible with names). I am super OCD
Kevin and his team showed up, took good care of our stuff, quickly and efficiently loaded everything while still being courteous, professional and careful.
We are a military family and have moved MANY times. These guys were some of the best movers we have had! They worked even late into the night without complaint. They were cordial when I had to ask to have a couple items relocated because I changed my mind. We did have a snafu on the end with dispatch, but that is in no way a reflection on the actual movers. It was resolved quickly by Kevin actually calling me and helping me work out the final details. They were even really great answering all my 9 year olds questions! He LOVES moving day and when the guys left last night his response was «Those guys were AWESOME mom! This was the BEST day of my LIFE!»
Having these guys do the heavy lifting, loading and unloading was totally worth it and the prices were extremely reasonable. I’ve paid for private movers before and had to pay WAY more money for terrible work, missing items, and damaged furniture. I got much more than I paid for and they exceeded my expectations as far as handling my items with care and being very professional! Jessica even gave us a military discount which was somewhere around 5% — every little bit helps, especially when you are paying for things out of your own pocket.
So if you decide to go with Blue Girl — request Kevin and his team, they’re out of Oceanside but came down to take care of our San Diego move!

They quoted myself and my wife roughly $ 400 dollars to move all of our stuff 35 miles. When the move was completed and under the estimated time they told us the final charge was over $ 800!!! They also damaged half the walls in our house and broke our couch! When we called the office they told us that they would send a mover out to «try» to match the paint they damaged. I would never use this company again or recommend their services. I would have been better off hiring 4 monkeys and a truck.

Horrible! My first question was if they were authorized to do business on Camp Pendelton. The rep told me they had been doing business on Camp Pendelton for more than 25 years and insisted they needed to come to our home to give us a quote so we stayed and rearranged our schedule. About 15 mins after expecting the quote I received a call from a guy stating that he was back on the freeway because he wasn’t allowed on base and was told that he would have to get a commercial pass because he had been on base the max amount of times without one. The rep called me back and told me that she sold the company but stayed on board for a year while they transitioned and in all her 25 years she never heard of this pass. She said they would get the pass on the next business day. Reluctantly, I rescheduled and they never showed up and this time never called. I suppose I was lucky based on some of the other reviews that I just read.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Horrible experience with the Orange county movers. They were 5 hours late, so I had to leave them behind to get into the storage unit before it closed. They left furniture behind which caused me to have to pay an additional fee with my landlord. They scratched up my expensive wood furniture because they didn’t wrap it properly. Horrible! Never again…

Great experience! Shirley gave me the Military discount, booked the move and was very peasant over the phone. Eddie, Mark and Robert showed up promptly this morning and were very courteous. They were professional and treated my stuff as if it were their stuff. I couldn’t believe how quickly these guys worked! Up and down three flights of stairs, they moved my two bedroom penthouse full of stuff (and jam packed garage) in four and a half hours! They even helped me move stuff around in my new place, so everything would fit. Best move experience ever!

Five stars without exception! From the time I placed my order through Shirley and Angela, until the time our two — day move was completed we were treated as «valued customers» including the fact that the owners of the company personally visited our new home to confirm all was well during the final stages. Eddie, Dustin & Jacob were our dedicated moving professionals over two arduous days and I have never seen such efficiency and professionalism from any company in this industry to date. Kudos to Blue Girl Movers!

My girlfriend just used these guys to move for the third time today. They’ve done a great job every time, and today was no exception. Peter and Paul (they joked that they’re looking for Mary) showed up right at the time they were supposed to, and right away we had a meeting to set expectations for how the move would proceed. They were highly professional, courteous, and accommodating of the fact that she has three cats to work around. The manner that they handled things made us so comfortable that we felt like we could have even walked away and trusted them to still treat us right. They worked steadily and through the whole day (minus lunch of course) and by early afternoon they were done! We would HIGHLY recommend Blue Girl Moving to anyone — fast, reasonably priced and most importantly they treated her stuff as though they owned it themselves. On top of that, their friendly helpful attitude took all the stress out of moving. GREAT JOB Peter and Paul!

I have used Blue Girl several times since 2000. I have always had good experiences with them over the years. The owners and movers have been professional, hardworking, and conscientious. My recent move from Carlsbad to Oceanside in February 2013 was awesome. I can’t believe how fast the guys worked! They bent over backwards to be helpful and were so kind. The price is always very reasonable and I ABSOLUTELY recommend them.

I used them in july and they were cheaper than most of the other movers but, you get what you pay for. After I moved I noticed that some of my things were missing like my pullup bar. Some how, certain things went missing. I looked everywhere but I couldn’t find them. I know for sure that I cleared out everything from my apartment and I moved everything. I recommend not using them. Unless you dont mind losing some things here and there.

Terrible!!! I would never use them again or recommend them to anyone!!! I think I worked harder and moved more boxes than they did. I know moving is hard work, but I have never seen movers take sooo many breaks. My senior mom and I took less breaks than they did and had to ask them to keep going. It got to the point where they took so long I finished moving 3 carloads my self the next day. One of the guys was kind of sketchy as well.
The move was really close by (maybe ¼ of a mile door to door). It took Blue girl movers a good 3 hours LONGER from start to finish than when I moved 120 miles away with the same amount of things using a different moving company (and the other company had a 2.5 hr drive and still finished quicker than Blue girl). They got paid per hour and I was stupid not to get a written quote first. They gave me a verbal quote over the phone (with me over stating how much I had to move). It was significantly more since they worked so slowly. I learned my lesson to get a written quote, but still would NEVER use them again. If I could give them 0 stars I would.

While looking for piano movers today with a google search. Blue Girl popped up and imagine my surprise they had 5 reviews with all 5 stars! They were all posted within March and April of this year. Seemed suspicious to me. I thought I would Unilocal my experience with them from a few years back.
I had three years of bankers boxes at the company I was working at that needed to be taken to a storage facility. They did show up on time, so they did earn the one star. Bankers boxes are made of cardboard and they were full so they were very heavy. The movers threw the boxes into their truck damaging the boxes and their structure. After they got the boxes to the storage facility tossed them onto the ground, more damage, Then when they dollied them into the storage unit, they were tossed onto existing boxes and as they stacked the new stacks– same thing. Because the boxes were no longer square from being tossed around they did not stack straight. I asked them several times to be more careful that they were squishing and damaging the boxes, I told them that my company would not be happy with the state the boxes were currently in. I was told that they were too tired to set them rather than toss them because this was their second job of the day. As to my company not being happy– that was too bad.
After they got the boxes into the storage unit, they kept pressuring me to tip them. They said that they barely got paid that all the money goes to the company, I explained that I work for the company and can not afford to give them money. They kept asking for a tip, that they deserve a tip for moving all these boxes.
I would never use this company again. I have used movers many times over the years for homes and a piano. I have tipped them because they took care of our belongings.
