History

Established in 1976.

Old Juan’s Cantina was founded on the principles of family, comida, and servicio. John «Old Juan» Verdin believed that these three principles combined created a great dining experience. And if you add a margarita, it only gets better! !SALUD!

John purchased what was then known as Carl’s Spanish Seas in 1976. He incorporated many of the dishes and sauces of his mother, Josefina, in the traditions of Guanajuato, Mexico into the menu. Even today, many of our newer dishes, such as the cactus splinters, are inspired from his mother and her hometown.

In 1995, a fire destroyed the building’s interiors, and the restaurant closed its doors. But John persevered, and the restaurant reopened in 1996 with a new look and a new name: Old Juan’s Cantina.

Today, John’s legacy and the Old Juan’s tradition is continued through his son and daughter, Adam and Eva, and the staff, many of whom have been with us for over 20 years.
