Tj’s Ice Cream Plus

Good ice cream. Bad help. Prices reasonable. Staff is rude. Translation, don’t tip.
It’s convenient that’s about all I can say. The kids like it. Like I said the ice cream is good but the young kids that they have working there should be taught some professionalism. Or at least common sense and manners.

I get that you’re here all season. I get that people act like idiots. However, the utter lack of basic customer service is astounding. The staff moves at a glacial pace, & generally speaks mostly amongst themselves. Waffle cones are stale & leave much to be desired in the taste department. 2 orders in our party were completely wrong (flavor & toppings). Of course we got the stink eye when we pointed out that the orders were completely off (both times-​same person). In any event, the crappy customer service, along with the thoroughly mediocre flavors added up to a few cents short of $ 20 for 4 people. The gentleman behind me moved to order bing cherry-​& was abruptly interrupted by the girl at the counter «we don’t have cherry anything today-​no cherry flavors. The size of the scoops were equivalent to a kiddie cone elsewhere on the island (we did not order kiddie cones). With so many options to choose from, I can’t imagine TJs being anyone’s favorite.

Tjs is right up the street from our house, but the location is the only convenient part about it. I refuse to return here ever since the employee who made my ice cream cone complained of cutting her arm while making my cone. After seeing a little blood on the cone, I threw it out and decided never to go back!

Have been visiting the Jersey shore for years and always enjoy ice cream after dinner. We visited tj’s last night, Ice cream was good but too expensive for the amount they gave. I would not go again.

The ice cream was good but the service was not the friendliest. I also felt for the amount of ice cream you received the cost was high.

Great place! Very good ice cream and great customer service. They left you try as many flavored as you want. The prices are s little more pricier then I wanted, but it is homemade ice cream. EX: $ 5 for a milkshake. Overall, I really enjoyed the ice cream and atmosphere!

Had an amazing ice cream with marshmallow topping. Great place to go when the boardwalk is too crowded to bother with it.

I’d probably give it 2.5 stars if I could give half stars. We stopped in for some ice cream last night. I’d checked out the flavors on their website and was excited to see maple bacon ice cream. Unfortunately, when we walked in — maple bacon ice cream wasn’t on the menu. Booo.
It’s a small ice cream parlor and when we walked in, there some tables upfront, but not a huge space. There were a few families in front of us and many, many kids. There’s no real place to stand in line, so you’re crowded up front waiting your turn, trying to dodge children running around with their ice cream cones.
We waited in line for 20 minutes. There clearly weren’t enough workers waiting on customers to keep the line moving.
Once we got to girl who waited on us, it was a smooth process. She was very pleasant, offered us lids for our ice cream to carry out, and even bagged them without asking. The price — not so great — four large cups with perhaps a scoop and a half of ice cream was just shy of $ 20. And they don’t take credit cards — cash only.
I had cake batter, which was pretty bland, and had ice chips in it. It wasn’t awful, but I wouldn’t get it again — nor was it worth the price or standing in line for 20 minutes.
If I could guarantee the maple bacon ice cream was available, I might give it another try — but I’m not sure I want to venture inside to find out. Maybe if I just happen to be walking by.

I have only been here once with my boyfriend and for 1 one-​scoop cone of green tea flavor and 1 one-​scoop cup of the bacon maple ice cream it was almost $ 10!!! This place really needs to hire some more people to help serve, not sure how many families were in here on but overall there were probably 15 people (at LEAST this many!) inside waiting, an elderly man asked me where the end of the line is (i told him it was my first time in here and I had no idea but that he could go before me) [NOTE: there are 2 registers, one in front of a displayed cakes/​pasteries and one in front of the big variety of ice cream] The elderly man went to the lady at the cake register and was told he had to stand behind the big line of 1 – 3 families right in front of the entrance door… poor man had been in there 15 mins and was clearly upset as he was cursing under his breath but when I finally got my green tea (I have had my fair share of amazing and lousy green tea ice cream) I have to say this was probably the most light green tea ice cream ive ever had. Even after spooning more than one spoonfuls into my mouth it was still so light, great for those not used to green tea or just trying it I suppose, but as Im asian and have had great green tea ice cream this was not up to par and the matcha tea powder was clearly scarcely used for one whole tub of ice cream. My boyfriend ordered the Maple Bacon and I loved it 10 000 0000x more than what I bought. I have to admit they have quite the unusual and different flavors and would possibly go back for the maple bacon ice cream but would not reccommend the green tea to anyone and would warn those who have never been this ice cream place IS PRICEY! I have been to pricey family-​run ice cream places but at least other give a LOT for the price. Only 3 stars for the long wait and costly price.

Great homemade ice cream, better than anything on the boardwalk. We got ultra chocolate and espresso chip. Owner was working and very friendly.

I live right next to this ice cream place yet I walk about 15 minutes away to get ice cream because this place is a rip off. I just went tonight to get ice cream because I didn’t feel like walking. Nothing has changed since the last time i was there. Their medium is about the size of an extra small and then they charge about $ 6 for it. In addition to small servings with high prices, the staff isn’t very friendly. Do your wallet a favor and just go somewhere else.

Not sure the best I can say is the service was perplexing and made me feel like I was scum, okay story is coming, I work customer service, I went in and just ordered a regular embarrassingly long name, java biscotti chip ice cream, the women waiting on me preceded to get my order, to my suprise or apparently shock, she brought a large out and preceded to tell me, a bit too much, that she had scraped it from the bottom and now she told me she was charging me for a large. I asked for a regular and if I could just get the regular price, she said then I’ll have to take some out and put it back it into a barrel, and so embarrsssed I took my now half melted sad ice cream, and so all I can say is indeed the service qas not the friendliest and also I’m still a bit perplexed?

It’s was ok, nothing fantastic… Had better. Think they need stronger spoons for Sundays. The flimsy plastic spoons don’t work well with the ice cream. Whipped cream was great.

Great cheesesteak! Good prices! Looks like a bunch of quick and easy choices along with pizza. Service is very good.

Just tried TJs for the first time and thought it was excellent! My wife and I both got a scoop of Ultra Chocolate on a sugar cone. My only regret is that I am now just discovering this place!

I’ve been coming to TJs for years and I feel like it has gone downhill the last couple of times I have been here. My mom has been heard saying, «everything I get from TJs taste the same». I think they just got comfortable and haven’t really done much to keep things interesting.
TJs is convenient to where my family stays so I usually end up here once or twice on summer vacation, but it wouldn’t be my first choice.

Yummy ice cream and lots of fun flavors. My kids look forward to walking here for a TJs treat whenever we visit Ocean City.

Ordered vanilla malt, top ²⁄₃ was good, but the bottom third revealed giant chunks of rock-​hard lumps of malt. I guess that’s what you get from having 15-​year-​olds mix your malt. Granted it’s prolly hard to keep malt from getting all lumpy in the high humidity, but that’s why they make glass jars with rubber seals. OR you can smash the malt before you dump it in the mixing container. Either way, no excuse for serving crappy shake if that’s basically all your selling. Not much quality control.

Good ice cream with a wide assortment of flavors. Minimal seating inside. Fun for the summer.

I was so surprised that there wasn’t a review for TJ’s that I called to confirm they were still in business (I visited last season).
The good news is: Yes, they are still in the business of making awesome ice cream. While on vacation in Ocean City we capped off every dinner by walking over to TJ’s for a cone. The ice cream is hand-​made and this is TJ’s competitive advantage. The hand-​made bliss is clear from the first lick/​bite. Creamy, tasty ice cream delight. Skyrockets in flight. Many flavors to choose from. Highly recommended.
The establishment is family owned and operated, and they are engaging and nice. They are also open late (10:00) so you can head over for a dairy nightcap (or candy if you desire, they have a decent selection of sugar products).
The only downside is they do not take credit card (really? in 2011?) or at least did not as of last season.
