«Famous» fried chicken? Not if you’ve had fried chicken anywhere else in the world. If, for one moment, you think this this is good, excellent, or any adjective above mediocre then you really need to get out of town and try something else. I have had better chicken at KFC on a bad night. Turkey hoagie was pretty good. Lots of turkey and it wasn’t dry. Cheeseburger was good. Medium sodas are decent sized. Service is good. You order at one window and wait for your number to be called at a side window. They could yell a bit louder. Maybe have a speaker. Like all places to eat on the boardwalk this place isn’t cheap. I’d go back but would not get the chicken.

An absolute classic. What would a trip to OC be with out Dayton’s. Plus the chicken is pretty good.

Just had a cheesesteak and fries. The prices are a little high given the portion sizes but it’s OC so maybe that’s part if it. The fries though were off the hook. Crispy and perfectly salted. These look way better than thrashers.

Chicken was just okay. It wasn’t crispy, but a little soggy. The taste was just okay — had to use Old Bay seasoning to add extra flavor. Next time I’ll go to Royal Farms for their fried chicken. If I ever go back, I will try their soft shell crab sandwich.

This place has an outstanding soft crab sandwich. Whenever I am at the beach this place is a staple. Their fried chicken is very good also

Had a fried chicken craving. Of course I checked Unilocal first! Chicken was good, crispy not too greasy or salty. Sadly, not five star chicken but fit the bill until I find a way to make fried chicken at home without a huge mess! Daughter loved her chicken tenders. Sides– fries were ok but the coleslaw was tasteless, the potato salad was tasty if you just want the dressing without the potatoes, apple sauce was actually a little grocery store package I would give the kids in their lunchbox! My suggestion is to buy the chicken, maybe the fries if you have a very short ride home, skip all the other sides and make your own!

My 5 star review is for their soft shell crab sandwich. It is sooooo good. Served on a white-bread roll with lettuce tomato and mayo, but I like it plain. No, I like one plain and one with the fix-ins, and one just eating the soft shell by itself. It’s flaky like a pastry. I try soft shells wherever sold in Maryland, but I crave the soft shells at Daytons. Maybe its the sentimental feeling that I get thinking of past experiences with my family during hot evenings on the boardwalk. Not sure. all I know is I love their soft shells and feel they’re as good as anyone’s, anywhere. And compared to prices elsewhere, theirs is the most reasonable! I have a picture somewhere and will post when I find it.

Was pleasantly surprised to taste such delicious chicken… everything it should be… salty(not excessive), crunchy and properly seasoned!!! It really satisfied my craving… and the fries and roll was an added bonus!
