Made reservations, got there and they said they were busy and couldn’t honor our reservations! Bye bye onion

Need more Stars! This was the perfect Father’s Day treat. Highly recommend the Braised Onion Round Loaf, the Grilled Mushroom Soup, the Spinach Salad(must try the warm bacon vinaigrette!), and the bread pudding(do not pass this up!) The food was exceptional, the staff offered great service, and the warm welcome from Betty made the visit memorable. We are VERY eager to return.

The fish and chips were excellent. The Kentucky sandwich thingy is good but the béchamel sauce and cheese on it were like flaming lava. Excellent service.

Chef Felix is an incredible artist! Just get there… rain, sleet or snow… His old restaurant was just as amazing. My parent’s love Felix. I love his cooking. A wonderful first, second, and tenth date…

The food here is awesome. I was in Ocala looking to buy a house and we needed to grab some food. The hotel desk recommended this place and I even say a tv commercial about this place. So we gave it a try… Omg is about the only way to describe the flavor explosion in every bite. I had prime rib the lady had liver and onions(yuck. But she loved it) I can’t wait to permanently move down here just to eat here regularly.

We stopped here for a quick lunch while driving from Gainesville to Orlando. The food wasn’t amazing, but it was decent. The servers were friendly, and the décor was really nice.

This place did not disappoint. Really great food and atmosphere. Fried green tomatoes, luscious spinach salad, and Mom’s meatloaf and mashed potatoes. Our server Trevor was excellent and the musician was very talented. A great evening with my honey.

OMG! This place was awesome. First thing on the table were these hot out of the oven garlic bread roles. Butter just melted into them. Dishes we ordered were: prime rib with mashed potatoes, Beef Stroganoff, pasta in red sauce, crab cakes(wow) and summer salad. All home made and very good. Beef Stroganoff was amazing. Dessert we had Bread Pudding(understand why it won awards) and Cocoanut Cream Pie. Yes… This was worth the 21 hour drive!

Highly recommend having the corned beef and cabbage on St. Patrick’s Day! It was cooked to perfection! The peanut butter pie I highly recommend also! The coffee was very good too.

My husband and I value locally owned businesses, especially restaurants. After searching on line we made the short detour from the interstate and had lunch here. So glad we did. I enjoyed the Kentucky Brown(got to love cheese) dish and ate it all. My husband enjoyed the fish and chips(the fries I stole from his plate were delicious). Fabulous wine list!!! Attentive service from Heather and Cheri. Even with lots of very special requests from nearby customers(«no mushrooms in the mushroom soup», and«I know it’s not on the menu but…»). Can’t ask for better service than that! House made soups also very good.

From the moment we walked in the door I realized we had found a hidden gem in Ocala. Lovely yet understated décor with soft music playing and subdued lighting. Our waitress Jeanie was excellent and one could tell she is experienced. After she took our drink order, she informed us of the two nighty entrée specials. Naturally, they were both in the $ 25 – 36 price range but sounded fabulous ! This may sound weird, any restaurant/bar whose bartender knows how to prepare a basic Vodka Gimlet always wins brownie points from me. This drink contains 2 ingredients, so you’d think it would be simple. Nope! I’ve had bartenders from coast to coast screw it up. A basket of hot rolls arrived, not ordinary rolls, they had a slight onion and garlic flavor. Next was a bowl of Grilled Portabella soup and a Spinach salad — both were out of the ordinary and delicious. Our entrees were Beef Stroganoff and Fried Chicken served on a bed of real mash potatoes and braised greens. Portions were very generous! If we hadn’t been traveling and staying in a motel, we easily could have taken ½ home. Do yourself a favor and eat here.

Absolutely the best Thanksgiving buffet dinner. The food is better than home cooked, it’s made with Love. 5 stars to the staff who put it all together and make each and every person feel better then they would if they were at home. Second year in a row and I can wait for next year already. I just might have to go back this weekend.

In Ocala there are lots of places to eat, but there few places to «dine». This cozy spot fits the bill if you are looking for a comfortable atmosphere where you could be casual or somewhat dressy and enjoy a home cooked delicious meal. The full bar is well stocked with whatever you like. We were greeted by a super friendly server, Jeannie, who helped us make our dinner selections. Warm tender crisp rolls were brought while we waited for our starters. The French onion soup is a must. It’s a classic, and really well prepared. Fried green tomatoes had a beautiful crisp coating, but the sauce was too dull. I’d have preferred something much brighter(tart, spicy, textured). I wasn’t sure if those tomatoes were on a layer of bland hummus. Entrées-shrimp and grits– excellent great sauce, perfectly cooked shrimp, spicy andouille sausage. Braised short ribs– melting, hearty and a big portion. I will surely return when in Ocala next time!

Dine here for a wonderfully relaxing evening of «comfort with attitude» as their logo announces. What’s also impressive is the consideration of our gluten free diners, and their menu is marked accordingly. We had a party of seven on a Tuesday night and we were sat immediately even though all of our party had not yet arrived, and we had a nice round corner table with a nice view of a collection of Chihuly glass bowls on the wall. Our waitress was prompt, friendly and very accommodating when we wanted to share several dishes, and no issues with separate checks. Plus our waitress seemed to really enjoy serving and particularly working for The Braised Onion. The Braised Onion(French Onion) soup is a must if you like French Onion soup, and my friend and I agreed it wasn’t too salty as they often can be. It was wonderful. We also had the Spinach salad and the Shrimp and Grits, both excellent and even though shared PLENTY of food! Highly recommend!

Stopped in for dinner on a Sunday evening. The restaurant was pretty empty when we dined in. The food was pretty good and the drinks were great. I highly recommend the sangria. My husband had the meatloaf and he loved it. He thought it was moist. The décor is kind of cheesy. We felt underdressed because of it. LOL

The Braised Onion is a jewel in Ocala, FL Every time I eat in this great restaurant I try to take a picture of my meal and write a review, but once the food is served I get amnesia. The service is second to none and the food is phenomenal. I recommend that if you come to this restaurant you will not be disappointed… Meals to try: The liver, prime rib, filet, braised onion loaf of bread… Everything is goooood…

Very appealing décor both in and out. I started with the lobster bisque and it was very good. I then ordered the fried catfish and it was outstanding both in quality and quantity. My wife had the mushroom soup and loved it. She then ordered the crab cake appetizer as her entrée and raved about it. The crab cake was set on a slice of zucchini bread which sounds weird but she said it was scrumptious and a very unique combination of tastes. Apparently it was so good she couldn’t offer me a bite. The one critique is that as costly as the entrees are you would think they could include a small dinner salad, but no you have to order that separate and at a pretty hefty price. Joshua gave us excellent service. We’ll go back.
