Excellent hoagies and cheesesteaks. The deli meat is fresh and flavorful – they don’t skimp on their hoagies. The cheesesteaks are delicious – the best part their rolls are the best(fresh and crispy with the option for sesame seeds) There is no other place to go but here-it’s tucked away-but is the best place around for cheesesteaks and hoagies. A 6inch cheese steak is around $ 7.

Lets get right to the point here, this spot is great! Tons of options, fresh ingredients and super nice staff. I came here to pick up some subs for football Sunday cheesesteak, Italian, and by recommendation the santé fe. The Italian was SOOOOOGOOD! Loaded with fresh Italian cold cuts, and that seeded bread was everything. The cheesesteak was also good, could have used more meat but regardless I enjoyed it. The santé fe which was loaded with turkey and roasted peppers was a great suggestion. My fiancé and my friend loved it! I would prefer the Italian but different folks, different strokes. With that said, great spot for some sandwiches. I can’t wait to try more of their menu.

The orders take forever even if you call ahead. When I call I expect my order to be ready when I get there and not have to wait another 15+ minutes.

I have been here in nj 7 years ND did not know they were here till about a month ago. All I have to say is where have u been all my life. My shop just vape is across the street from them and I’m here at work all the time. There food is awsome I eat here almost every day. Today I got the garlic bread with mozz cheese and bruschetta. Now I make my own bruschetta that is awesome but they blow mine out of the water it is sweet and just amazing. By far my fav dish so far. There portions are huge and well worth the money their price range is perfect and not overly priced their customer service is awesome 5 stars all the way.

I am missing my sub shop up in Central Jersey, but this place helped fill that void. When I’m in the area, I’ll definitely hit this place up when I’m in the mood for a great hoagie. I went with Old World Italian, 8 in, seeded roll. Fresh fillings, tasty roll, stuffed to the brim and huge overall. I definitely will go with a 6″ next time. Easy to call up and place an order for pick up. Family owned. Oh, cookies, they’re spot on, pick some of those up too!

I ordered 2 hoagies from here and it was soooo good! There aren’t many good takeout places around me and I love a good hoagie. Primos is close but they don’t like to deliver unless it’s a large order so I searched for a hoagie place and Amato’s came up. I’ve gotten so sick of these takeout places because I’ve had so many bad experiences around here but decided to take a chance because of the reviews. Im so glad I did. I’m sorry buuuut, Amato’s is WAY better than Primos. The meat was sliced nice and thin(that is how it’s supposed to be guys) and they packed the meat on like no other. Honestly it was like heaven. My stepdaughter and I bragged to everyone in the house about how good it was since they decided to get pizza instead. This is the first place I feel 100% comfortable ordering from because I know for a fact they make a good hoagie. Thank God! Finally! Also, when I called I told the man I wanted extra pickles and that I absolutely could not eat my hoagie with out it. He told me he’d put extra on the hoagie and extra on the side. That was nice of him he actually gave me 2 extras on the side. He was super nice and it was nice to have good service. He didn’t rush me at all. 5 stars for me.

Went out shopping with my guy in the city and got a craving for a sandwich. Not a hoagie, but just a good turkey sandwich between two pieces of bread. He’s been wanting to try this place so instead of dealing with finding parking in Old City, we headed back to Jersey. He’s been wanting to try this place So I was game. Ok, so this sandwich is AWESOME. Its so large I couldn’t even take a normal bite. The turkey was so good, bacon was nice and crisp as we’re the veggies. Service was quick and friendly. I will def be returning to try other sammies.

Basic… just like Primo’s except all the hoagies have different names. Roll was weak. Cheesesteak was blah… they also forgot my fried onions. They were busy though… I guess its the best in the Oaklyn area, but average to the rest of us. One an DONE.

The sandwiches here are very good. And the menu has something for every taste. The sandwiches are made to order and they run through the list of ingredients so it is made your way. The meats and cheeses are top quality and the bread is fresh also.

Love this place! From the food, to the customer service, I have never been disappointed. Highly recommended to anyone who has become bored, like me, of the same wawa hoagies/deli.

Finally! A real Italian deli in SJ — no more traversing the bridge to S. Philly or dealing with the snotty kids at Primo. Everything I’ve tried has been excellent! All homemade stuff!

Another Unilocaler made the suggestion to check out Amato Bros, and I’m glad I listened. Located on the ever-busy White Horse Pike, this deli houses friendly staff and quality ingredients. The worst part of the experience was the parking lot, which backs right into the road. You just have to wedge out of it. I tried my usuals: the Italian and chicken salad hoagies, both in the six inch size. While the Italian was a little more hot than I’m used to, I obviously won’t dock my rating because of that. Plus, the hoagie is in my stomach now, so that says something. The chicken salad is good as well, though I’m pretty particular about my chicken salad and it’s rare that I give high praise. I think I’ll stop back sometime and try their chicken cutlet. In all: A good experience.

Great service and great sandwiches/hoagies. The store is a bit bare, but very clean. Each sandwich can be customized, and the guys are really great about making sure you get what you want. The hoagies are made to last — you can eat a half now, and then another half later(just put it in the fridge, wrap it tight in parchment paper, and refrigerate — trust me! It will stay good). Also, the peppers stuffed with sharp provolone and proscuitto are delicious!

Great sandwiches that reflect a concern for their customers AND great taste. The order I called-in was taken in a cordial and patient manner and our food was prepared in the exact timeframe given. The bread was fresh and toasted to perfection and they added just the right amount of cheese and liquid condiments. Variety within the veggie selections helps vegetarians and Burger fanatics feel perfectly at home. Five stars for a fabulously delicious and customer-friendly deli!

One of the best hoagies in South Jersey. Their only competition is Carmen’s and DiPascale’s in Pennsauken. Excellent bread for the hoagies from De Luca’s bakery. It’s not that squishy crap that DiVello’s uses. Choice of seeded or not. The deli meats are D&W. They have some homemade things. I just ate a «homemade turkey» hoagie. It was turkey and not that water/fat/turkey roll stuff. Exceptional. I’ve tried many of their other hoagies. The Old World Italian is great. I posted an axial photo of a hoagie. Generous amount of meat. They offer a mini hoagie which is «mini» 6″ or ¼ loaf. The small is ½ a loaf. That is too much for me. This is important. If the only option in a place is a half loaf, then I’ll have to pass unless I share. I can eat a quarter loaf any day. The 6″ mini weighed in at 14.5 ounces and it was just a bit over 6″ long. The hot pepper shooters are great for only $ 1. Stuffed with prosciutto and sharp provolone. Every employee I’ve dealt with have been quite nice. I don’t get the comment by another reviewer(who signed up just to trash them it seems). The onion rings are battered and not the cornmeal type(like DiNic’s over in Mt Ephraim serves). They’re OK. Italian Tuna. Head and shoulders above Fumble Bee. The wings are big and meaty. They have a special on Tues and Wed where you get 5 extra. Cons: Herr’s and not Utz. No Tasykakes. Bruschetta is toasted bread rubbed with a clove of garlic. They use the phrase“Topped off by bruschetta”, which tells me that they confuse the American tomato topping with bruschetta. Watch out for the meatball sandwich. The meatballs are good, but both times I ordered one, the gravy was measured out with an eyedropper. Nothing exotic. If you want a Yak Gonad hoagie, try Paesano’s.

I was a bit apprehensive about Amato Bros. when I found out they were taking over Wil-Jax and revamping the menu. Wil-Jax had become one of my most favorite delis — not just in South Jersey but in general — and I had the«if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it» kind of attitude. So I let my husband give Amato Bros. a try first. He was an even bigger fan of Wil-Jax than I, so I expected that he’d come back disappointed and lamenting the loss of a good neighborhood deli. Let’s just say that he could not wait to tell me all about how amazing Amato Bros. was — so much that he was already planning his next trip there. His sandwich wasn’t even finished yet. My curiosity was now piqued. When they said the menu was going to be revamped, they were not kidding. What was great is now superior. The menu tripled in size and the sandwiches got more creative. I have finally found my go-to spot for a real Italian tuna hoagie in South Jersey. There are so many appetizing choices on the menu that it will take me months to try them all. There is a new recipe for the homemade macaroni salad and it is absolutely delicious. I tend to stay away from anything with a lot of mayonnaise which usually means I cannot partake in deli macaroni salads. Not the case with Amato Bros.: the macaroni salad is made perfectly with just the right amount of everything in it. If there is one thing you must get when going to Amato Bros., it has to be the macaroni salad. Try it once and you will see exactly what I mean. The store is also now much cleaner, organized, and spacious. They took a good thing and just made it better. That is such a rarity these days! I wish Amato Bros. continued great success — they certainly deserve it.
