Warehouse Toastmasters

I joined Warehouse Toastmasters in January of 2015. My life is busy. I have a family, a demanding job, and number of self-​improvement goals. So I was reluctant to make yet another weekly commitment. Despite some anxiety prior to my first 5 minute «ice breaker» speech, I am glad that I did! I have found this particular toastmasters club to be exceptional. The club and its members are welcoming, engaging, experienced, and organized. I feel fortunate to have found this wonderful group and look forward to improving my communication skills over the coming years. If you are looking for ways to improve your speaking skills, swing by our club. Guests are always welcomed!

If you have thought about Toastmasters but never quite gotten around to checking it out, please come visit! Guests are always welcome and do not have to speak. I joined recently and have found it to be very different than I imagined. It is super low key and non-​threatening. In fact that is the whole point! It is a great place to get over speaking anxiety or to try out new skills. The meetings are exactly one hour which makes it really manageable on a weekday. The materials are great and you can put in lots of time/​practice or just be more of a casual participant.
Come check it out — you have nothing to lose. (Also, there is plenty of free parking on 26^th street so that makes it even easier!)

A positive and supportive place to develop better communication and leadership skills located in an art gallery where the exhibit changes on a monthly basis. Come for the communication, stay for the leadership!

What an intelligent, interesting, creative group of people. I dropped in to check out Toastmasters and walked out inspired, informed and ready to go back for more. Not only did I learn more about speaking before an audience, but I also felt more confidence and prepared for conversations and networking.

My first visit was around February of 2013. I was nervous. Nervous to be there and worried that I would have to speak. The group was warm and inviting. I did not have to speak on my first visit, other that to introduce myself. Over the following months, I got my courage up. I have completed many short speeches, and my nervousness has gone from a earth shaking roar to a manageable occasional rumble. And it is fun!
Not only has my ability to speak in public improved dramatically, but I have learned to be a better listener, I have met new friends, and I have found a creative outlet for writing and storytelling,
Meetings are in an art studio in Oakland’s Warehouse District, know for its eclectic art studios and nightlife — Only blocks from downtown Oakland with plenty of free parking.
I highly recommend that you visit Warehouse Toastmastes. You will be glad you did!
