Dr. Yee is the best! I often have a hard time with the pressure test, and I never do the eye test with my eyes dilated (after an awful experiences years back with another doctor). Dr. Yee made me feel very comfortable, and she took extra good care of my eyes, checking things twice when need be just to be on the safe side. Because I trusted her I came back for the dilation too! I appreciate her conscious care, and I will definitely be back to be seen by her.

The staff is rude and unwelcoming. I had to return three times to get a single pair of glasses. The counter person stated they checked the prescription but when I picked them up they clearly were wrong. I had to make another appointment when it was finally discovered the lenses were the wrong prescription. The counter person clearly lied! The staff acted like it was my fault. Never did I get an apology for my wasted time. When I mentioned my concerns about the staff to Dr. Jue, he said, usually all he hears is compliments about the employees! I guess he doesn’t read Unilocal very often.

I’ve been coming here for years. Great service, nice array of options.

I’ve been going here for a little over 4 years now and I’ve only been happy with Viewpoint. The staff is helpful and flexible, even hooking me up with samples when my disposable contacts were out of stock. Their selection of frames is surprising hip for Montclair or even for Oakland in general. Their office is bright with natural light, nicely designed and feels like a comfortable place to not just to have your vision attended to, but also to shop for nice, high-​end frames.

I have been a patron and patient of this office for 10 years and I have always received excellent service by Dr. Jue, Dr. Yee, and the office staff. Making an appointment has never been a problem, service is on time, and the selection of frames is excellent. It’s mostly high end and designer frames, so I’m not sure how prices compare to other places but I’ve never had an issue. I wear glasses M-​F and like a nice pair of glasses and Viewpoint delivers. I also wear contacts and I’ve always received exactly what I needed. My prescription is complicated and they get it right every time and I’ve never had any insurance billing issues. I trust the women in this office to give me their honest opinion when I’m picking out lenses and that is a factor on why I go there. I know if a frame looks bad, they will tell me. If it looks great, they will tell me. Dr. Jue and Dr. Yee are excellent at what they do and I highly recommend Viewpoint. The dress/​cleavage factor of the staff that others have posted about here is not anything that bother me one way or the other but yes it is a young and attractive office staff. So what! It has no bearing on the level of service and they get it done.

I recently learned that my four-​year-​old son needs glasses. Since my kids and I are in this area multiple times a week for smoothies, burritos, froyo, etc. (sounds like I have more reviews to write. :)), it was natural for us to pop into this store first to look at frames (we did not visit the doctors here). No one was in the store when we arrived, or, for that matter, the whole time we were there. The two women behind the desk didn’t even bother to look up when we walked in, let alone offer a simple «hello». So, I got the attention of one of them to ask if they sell children’s frames. They do. She pointed me to the display area. That was it. No offer to help, no questions about what we were looking for, no suggestions or information. I wanted to know the cost of one pair of frames and if they accepted my insurance plan. The woman told me the price, and said «yes we do.» I can’t say the staff was rude, just completely indifferent. They didn’t seem to mind that my 18 month-​old daughter carried around their display stuffed animal the whole time we were there… or maybe they just didn’t notice? Five minutes later I bought my son’s frames from the place around the corner.

Dr. Jue has not idea what he is doing. I went to him after I moved to Oakland and needed to find a new optometrist. He changed my prescription drastically. Then I could no longer see. My glasses tended to sit on top of my head because when I upt them on I felt I was going cross eyed because my eyes were straining so much to try to focus. When I went back again he said it was the proper prescription.
Finally went to a different optometrist. She was amazing! She spent 45 min with me. Unlike the quick drive by provided by Dr. Jue. She had glasses could try on with the prescription she was recommending to see if I was comfortable. She also fitted me for contacts. She has you come back after a 2 week trial period to check if they are fitting properly. Dr. Jue just handed me packets and sent me out the door. No follow up unless I called with difficulties.
She also wanted to try monovison contacts. She tested to see my dominant eye and provided good instruction on which eye to keep the contact in. It had not worked before when Dr Jue tried. That’s because he randomly chose which contact to keep in and which to take out. It was the opposite eye my new optometrist told me to put the contact in.
In addition to his professional abilities, his office staff is horrible. Stay away from this place unless you want to be abused and then blind as a bat. :(

I have been going to Viewpoint for several years for my glasses and eye exams. I’ve had nothing but great service. When I started to develop a catarct Dr. Jue kept track of it and when it was time refrred me to a great sugreon. Nothing but the higest recommendation!

I do wonder why they can’t have someone answering the phone at least during «lunchtime» which they don’t define. There are at least three people working in the office and they could stagger their lunch times. Hey! People often have time to pick up orders only at lunch time!

Dr. Jue performed a complete exam and did a great job. The problem I have is with his staff.
The staff is completely clueless, getting answers about my new lenses and frames is like pulling teeth. No customer service what so ever. I agree with a previous review «inexperienced and unprofessional».
My recommendation to Viewpiont: hire experienced staff; focus on customer service; skip the buxom beauties. I’m taking my business elsewhere.

Unbelievable the number of complaints this office receives on the inappropriate dress and rudeness of the staff. The Hooters Type photo of the staff shows what Dr. Jue must value in his employees.
I have made my last appointment at this office. It’s sad that Dr. Yee would subject herself to this environment.

I can’t speak about the doctors, themselves, because I have an optometrist at a different office. My advice to the doctors who own this practice is to find different office staff fast.
I bought my frames here, so I can comment on my experience with the front-​of-​house office staff. One reviewer commented that they are young and hip. I would add inexperienced and unprofessional to the list of adjectives.
I was told to pick up my frames anytime except between 12 and 1pm when staff are on lunch break. I made a special 30 minute trip out to pick up the frames. I arrive at a11:45. The office is already closed; the lights are off and a sign on the door reads back at 2pm. What business takes a 2+ hour lunch break? Needless to say, I will never do business here again. I have better ways to spend my time then chasing down the staff.

the staff was rude and condescending, it appeared that I was inconveniencing them by the way they acted and responded to me. they did not reply to phone calls, did not answer the phones, and when I left work early, drudged thru traffic to get to the place before they closed, there was a hand written sign that they closed early. At the very least, they should have left a voice mail message stating that they were closing early!
When i complained to Richard Jue about their non-​responsiveness, he merely stated a half hearted apology and was dismissive. he didn’t seem interested nor concerned.
it appeared that the job requirement is to were lots of make up, be large breasted and wear revealing clothing. It was very unprofessional and horrible customer service.
the only people that would appreciate this place are male because the staff perked up when men entered the store.

I think Dr. Jue is wonderful and the frame selection top notch. My biggest problem is the inappropriate clothes the staff wears. It is over the top provocative and makes me very uncomfortable. I realize they have worked there for many years and it might be hard to ask them to dress more appropriately but it is really over the top.

I have been going to Viewpoint and seeing Dr. Yee for about 10 years. Dr. Yee is also my husband’s and daughter’s optometrist. She is an excellent clinician, and I would highly recommend her. She is extremely thorough. The shop has a nice selection of frames. I’ve never had any trouble with insurance billing. My contact orders always arrive in a reasonable time-​frame.
My complaint is with the office staff. While quite friendly and knowledgeable, the way they dress is inappropriate. Most of the time, they look like they are ready to go out clubbing. I feel embarrassed taking my 8 year old in there. Look at their pictures on the website.
They really do dress like that. In the office. I guess if you are a horny guy (or gal) this is the place for you.
Also the office seems to close whenever they feel like it. I have gone many times during regular business hours to make an appointment or pick up contacts, and they are just closed for no reason.
Nevertheless due to Dr. Yee’s excellent care, I will continue to patronize this business.

Absolutely top-​notch. Dr. Jue and his associates are professional, courteous and very competent.
The eye docs are all great, and the selection of frames is amazing. Every time I’ve needed assistance with insurance billing, frame selection and/​or ordering, contacts, bifocals and anything else, the group at Viewpoint is superb.
It’s worth mentioning that this is absolutely the most fashionable and lovely business you may ever enter. Make a trip, and you’ll see what I mean.

Dr. Jue is very thorough and is up to date in his field. Appointments are easy to get, with little wait time. The staff are extraordinarily helpful in assisting with selection of frames that look attractive – a real plus. There is a very wide selection of frames to choose from, and many «designer» brands. I usually ask them for a selection of frames that don’t require me to second mortgage my home, and they are very accommodating! Friendly, upbeat atmosphere. They’ll even give you quarters to feed your meter if it runs out. Highly recommended.

I get the best sunglasses from this place. They always have the best selection on a count of that their staff is pretty young and up to date on what’s in and what’s out. I had been looking for a specific pair of Ray Bans sunglasses I just couldn’t find anywhere else.
I checked out this place and was bummed that they didn’t have them but there was a really nice receptionist that said they could be ordered and about week or two later they came in.
They’re now my favorite pair of shades I always get compliments on them. They make it really comfortable and convenient to go in and look around, it’s a really great atmosphere!

This is the closest optometry office to my house that takes my insurance. I have called several times during business hours (they NEVER answer the phone) and have left two messages regarding wanting to make an appointment. I have never been called back. I have also gone in twice (with two other attempts, again during business hours but they were closed for lunch – both times the sign said they’d be back 10 – 15 minutes prior to the time I actually showed up). One time when I actually went in, no one showed up to help me (felt weird because the out to lunch sign was still up despite door being unlocked). The other time there were about three receptionists there actually answering the phone and helping one client. I was there for about two minutes and was never acknowledged. I took a card for the doctor that takes my insurance and left. More unanswered phone calls…
It’s a nice-​looking practice and I’m sure the doctors are good, but I have better things to do with my time than spend more time trying to make an appointment.
