US Post Office

they are not knowledgeable at all !!!
I have sent air mail for several times with using regular forever stamps.
According to the USPS as long as the stamps have value of 1.15 $, what kinds of stamp you are using do not matter at all. However, this is only place I get rejected. please be aware of regulation !!! For those of you wish to send air mail at this place, please place international forever stamps only. Otherwise you will be rejected.

On March 16, 2015 I knocked on the passport window and was told by a clerk that i had to stand in the regular line. When I got up to the window, this woman grunted at me «no passport today!». I asked if there would be service tomorrow and she grunted again «don’t know».It was a most unhelpful, unprofessional experience. I have had better service at the DMV. I don’t care what your job is, you can bring the spirit of helpfulness and service to it. went to Alameda Southshore office to get my passport help. The guy there said that starting today (!) it was by appointment only and wouldn’t make an appointment at the window… said I had to call a number that wasn’t being answered all morning. Then he yelled at me. BUT he eventually gave me the information I needed to do it by mail. Sheesh USPS!!!

I like this Post Office. Its usually not very Busy and its a Main Branch .
Theres tons of parking out front .

So I came to this post office due to the other post office had over 30 people in line for passports. This office has a passport location but the worker called in sick. What the hell, how is it that other folks are not trained to do passports when you have the location open if someone calls in sick. That is what back ups are for. They need to have more people trained when someone is out sick to cover the work that needs to be done. Why have a location open if no one is there.

If I could give this place no stars, I would.
I attempted renewing my passport at the Alameda location and it was nothing but a bad experience.
When I first arrive at the post office, the line for passports wasn’t too long at all (there were only one or two people in front of me). So the question is: WHAT WAS TAKING SO LONG? Initially I was being very patient and continued to wait, until I saw a sign that says passport renewals are by APPOINTMENT ONLY. Prior to this, I googled the post office and nowhere only did it state this information.
So I decided to take down their number and call them, but nobody was picking up the phones… I could see from inside the office that phones were ringing off the hook, but the workers continued to ignore the shrills.
My alternative was to wait until I reached the front of the line and schedule an appointment since there was nothing else that I could do. I made my appointment (even though the next available spot was weeks later) and was on my way.
What I don’t understand is why the appointments were so «packed» when I was the last person in line when I left and nobody else seemed to be coming in. They should at least have walk-​ins when it isn’t busy or have an updated site so that people aren’t wasting their time.
I left and decided to go to the Hegenberger post office and they were very accommodating there! Walk-​ins okay and they were very efficient with the whole process. I definitely recommend coming here for your passport needs, unless you have a lot you’re desperately trying to kill (hah, get it?)
ALSO, I tried to call into the Alameda office maybe 2 or 3 more times to cancel my appointment but I have not had ANYONE pick up my call.
I gave up trying… I guess I’m just going to miss that appointment without notice. Although I do feel bad for those who ARE trying to schedule an appointment with them and my name is mistakenly filling up a spot, or perhaps I’m doing them a favor? Hahah.

If I can give this place a no star I would, shit they don’t pick up the damn phone. My package has been missing for two days, was delivered to my home. Started out with the mailman/​women giving me the wrong key to access my package. Then I wrote a note and taped it on the mailbox. The mailman/​women then gave me two keys, still no package to be found. I might just have to hunt down the mailman/​mailwomen.
This is horrible, this is what I get for living in Oakland!!! Sorry but it sucks to know that you’re mail is not safe!

So, I have an issue with the mail man getting access to deliver his mail at
my location.
The get down went like this:
1)After being sent from Macarthur post office with instructions to give key to the post office in charge of my address i wait in a long line.
2)At the Purdee location, I am told that in order for me to get the key issue resolved I would have call someone in the morning.
3) When i call in the morning, the answering post «lady», says, «we are to busy to handle this. WTF???
Screw it! so i drive around my neighborhood, find a damn mailman, ask him if he would help. and he said. sure!
Best bet. dont count on the staff at purdee station, and be cautious of instructions from the macarthur post office. Seemed like no one knew what was up except for the actual mail man!

No automated postal machine, no drop boxes for packages. This is a bare bones post office, but it has plenty of PO Boxes if you’re into that. The bulletproof windows scare me.
I came here during lunch time, and as expected there was a line. However I suspect this is not a popular location and the line was long, not because of the usual lunch hour rush, but because there was one employee. An older lady who moves like a sloth.
