Nearly a year ago, I was serendipitously introduced to a most amazing naturopathic physician: Dr Suen Sohn.
Not having health insurance, armed with a battery of blood tests that indicated my thyroid was out of whack and tired of feeling run down, foggy, and generally icky all the time, I asked the smart and helpful staff at Pharmaca in Rockridge (love that place!) for recommendations to a naturopathic physician versed in thyroid disorders. Et voila, Dr Suen (of Unity Natural Health Clinic).
When we spoke for the first time on the phone, I immediately got signature Dr Suen: sweet, smart and 110% interested and passionate about helping. And I mean always.
In the year I’ve worked with her, she has never even hinted at feeling put out by a random question I might email, or a request for a quick check in by phone, or to place an order for supplements that I get for a discounted price because she orders them for me. I mean, this woman is golden! I’ve never in my 40 years known a doctor who is not only dang good at her trade (always attending new seminars and workshops to stay abreast of the latest in functional and dis-​eased conditions, knowledgeable to the point of making my head swim sometimes — and then, yes, she’ll pull out a piece of paper and draw pictures to explain — love it!) she’s also the kindest person!
Dr Suen has been beyond generous in her time and in her effort to keep costs down for me. She’s thorough too — our initial in person meeting and assessment lasted 2.5 hrs –and will take the time to do a detailed analysis with you, eliminating possibilities, before diagnosing anything. She will consider your lifestyle and habits and diet and work and emotions and energy levels — all of it, to holistically address whatever ails you. And she won’t quit until you’re feeling better.
And I do feel better! And without prescription drugs! So I don’t have to call on her as much these days, but when I do, without fail, she’s there with a smile, an assurance and a direct answer. I can’t say enough positive things about Dr Suen. If you want a truly caring, supportive, astute naturopathic physician to partner with in an effort to improve your health, I’d recommend giving Dr Suen a call.
