Next to no customer service. ‘Employee’ was talking in the phone while eating Burger King at the cash register. Reading other reviews shows that they need more training at Training Grounds. If you are in charge of educating these kids WAKETHEFUCKUP.

If there were zero stars, I would totally give this place just that. First off, where the fuck are the prices located? The menu absolutely sucks and does the girl even know how to make coffee? I mean, it literally tasted like frothy water. Thank god for the half and half, sugar, and flavored powders located on the side counter. But wow this place was overpriced as heeeelll. Gas station coffee is 100x better than this. I don’t normally throw my drinks away when there’s still some left in the cup… but I did this time, I had no choice. Do not, do not, DONOT come here! This place is a definite joke.

I approached the booth where an employee and a non-employee friend were talking. When I came to the desk I the friend continued to talk to her as I asked how much an additional shot of expresso would be. Basically she held two conversations simultaneously which drug our conversation on because she didn’t understand what I was asking. When I finally got the answer she was irate and extremely rude. I felt like I was wasting her time ordering as a customer instead of her talking to her friend. I left after she became rude and bought an energy drink across the way. Keep in mind I’m the chillest and most understanding person you could meet. I was fine with everything until the very end when she became irate and gave me a rude look. For the owner: her shift was June 30th2014 at 11am. Please retrain her or replace her with someone who has customer service skills

Sorry but if your going to «help local youth» with a coffee stand gig start by giving them training, manners, and food hygiene skills to start. Often workers here scratch their heads touch their faces and wipe their nose and attempt to «serve“customers. No customer service or interaction with possible customers whatsoever. I honestly do not expect better but its just suprising to see good reviews maybe their friends stopped by or someone was super desperate for coffee. I don’t know but they will not be getting patronage from me.

Best Americano in OAK. Today as I was picking up my cup of Joe, I noticed a tiny sign which said this place is actually a youth employment training program. It gives young adults an opportunity to learn about starting and managing a business. It makes me love this place even more.

If you like coffee that is priced like Starbucks, tastes like 7 – 11 and is made by a 16 year old with neck tattoos then this is your place. It’s basically the place you go if TSA says you are not allowed passed the check point

I was dropping my wife off and her plane was delayed so we had time to grab coffee before she went through security. I got a cappuccino and it was great! The foam was an inch above the top of the cup — that’s talent. She was very friendly too. Atmosphere is negligible, it being Oakland Airport but people watching was good. Highly recommended if you want coffee outside security.

Grabbed a single shot Americano for $ 3.13a.t.( ) — about the size of a StBux grande — not super hot but not picky since this is at the airport. No frills place( ). I’m thinking it is one of those programs that help kids learn the trade and teach them job skills they otherwise cannot easily attain( ). Didn’t have time to find out more about the vendor, so will return the next time at OAK. I had to do a drop-off at OAK and noticed this small café inside Terminal #2. Three small tables and a counter so it’s mainly to-go orders. Located in the small area separated by Southwest Airline’s Baggage Claim and departure’s Security Checkpoint. Good location to be at. Milestone: the 11,000th compliment’s review… and TTR!

Training Grounds is a coffee bar ala Starbucks that is operated by the Youth Employment Project in Oakland to give young adults employment training. I stopped by for a latte. I was cheerfully greeted, asked if I wanted a muffin or other baked good to accompany my latte(good upselling technique!) and had my latte in a couple of minutes. When I asked who operated Training Grounds, I was told it was the Youth Employment Project(YEP). The prices are slightly below Starbucks which is just an added bonus. The menu isn’t as expansive, but you’ll get all the basics. The coffee bar is located near the baggage claim area in Terminal 2.
