Don’t come here! We waited 1 ½ hrs for a consultation. The receptionist kept reassuring someone would be out soon but no one did. If they can’t run basic administration do you think they can siice your eyes?

Jakylin, and yesenia along with the staff and Dr were very very informative with the whole procedure of lasik, since my first appointment they walked me thru everything I needed to know, answered all my questions that I had, even the silly questions.
Ria and Dr Lee, and Ernesto were all so kind making me feel comfortable with my desicion to have my vision correction of lasik.
In addition to keeping me informed including phone calls to make sure I was ready with the lasik I received.
I have worn glasses for all my life including contacts .
So I am anxious to be able see with out the help of glasses or contacts.

Had my surgery one month ago. Have good eyes — YAY. But the whole experience was pretty absurd so ZERO STARS ON THAT. LONGEST WAIT OF MY LIFE. To be honest, this place deserves zero stars. Yes, my lasik worked but at a serious emotional cost. I was told my wait would be 2 – 4 hours — appointment was at 11:30 and I didn’t get my surgery until 8pm AT NIGHT. I was wrecked, anxious, nervous while I waited for a scary surgery. The staff barely seemed apologetic and it was just too busy for them to be able to take proper care of all of us. Just too many appointments in one day.
I just didn’t feel well prepared for what I experienced that day. Sure they told me that they had 3 offices being served (day of) but please plan for that or give me a heads up. There seemed to be no logical order to things. I think the kicker was when i finally was in the OR and then the doctor thought I was supposed to get PRK! OH NO. I simply said, «uh, i’m here for lasik or nothing…» PRK is a much more painful procedure to recover from and it was not what i signed up for. To simply just assume that this is the surgery you’re going to do on me is NOT OKAY. I understand that they recommend doing this because it may be less liability on their end — they do a lot of these procedures. But just be aware that you have to be very direct with them about what you want. Defend yourself. Ask questions. Be proactive.
If I had to go back, I think I would choose another place. 100% NOT WORTH IT to go here. They made an already scary experience tough to handle.

TEN HOUR WAIT.
The actual surgery was successful for me, and the doctor was nice and competent, but I wouldn’t recommend getting Lasik here.
I was scheduled for surgery at 11:00am, and I did not leave the center until 8:30pm. I waited 10 full hours, and when I arrived they told me the total time would be 2 – 4 hours. In addition to this wait, I was given inadequate discharge instructions:
1.They did not tell me how to use the eye drops (shake and leave in for 5 minutes each), so I was using them improperly for the first days after surgery.
2. They did not tell me to bring artificial tears for right after the surgery, and after 2 days of using the regular artificial tears, they told me I should have been using preservative-​free artificial tears. As a result, my vision was quite blurry for the first week because I had some swelling (the prescription eye drops were supposed to help with that).
3. They told me they had us in appointment order, but they let several people go ahead of me who had appointments after me.
They had seriously overbooked the clinic that day, and it seemed stressful for the staff as well, but the lack of adequate communication and the lack of apology/​reimbursement after made it clear that this is the usual standard of care for them.

I just want to say one word. miracle !! My son can see now without his glasses it really is a miracle he’s worn glasses since he was in second grade. He couldn’t wear contacts, so I told him one day when he was older I would get him this surgery so he could see without his glasses it finally happened he’s 22 years old and he loves it he can see almost ²⁰⁄₃₀ where before his vision was so bad he could only see maybe 2 feet in front of him and then it was blurry. The staff was awesome here Tito was so great and explained everything so well. The procedure was quick and according to my son painless. the price for the procedure was less than I thought it would be, so it was definitely affordable we are so happy I would definitely recommend The Lasik vision Institute.

I had my LASIK surgery done at LVI a little over a month ago, and couldn’t be happier with the results or the service. My vision is ²⁰⁄₁₅ and I CAN SEE EVERYTHING. Highly recommend that you #TreatYoself to LASIK here.
Pre-​op:
–Bring all your questions and concerns. Jakylin the office manager is THE BOMB and will make sure you’re comfortable with the procedure. There’s absolutely no pressure to book until you’re ready. Dr. Lee the optometrist will determine whether you’re a candidate for PRK or LASIK, and answer surgery-​specific questions. I cannot say enough good things about Jakylin and the staff.
–Get the Groupon! Or at least mention that you know about the Groupon when it’s time to discuss payment. I felt weird about it initially, but the customer service was A+ with or without the coupon. They want you to be comfortable, informed, and happy. I shopped around and researched a few different places, and none of them could compare to the $ or service of LVI. (Shout-​out to Jac on Unilocal for the tip!)
–Get your prescription eye drops. KAISER PEEPS! Go to Kaiser and save yourself mucho $. I almost got them at CVS for $ 110+, compared to about $ 20 – 30 at Kaiser.
–I bought the 30-​pack of the preservative-​free drops and still have some leftover. (BTW– you can replace the caps; just remember to use it within one day)
–Download audio books, podcasts, meditations, etc. Prepare to stay home for a day and sleep your ass off. YAS! Zzzzzz.
Op day:
–Shower beforehand because you won’t be able to immediately after the surgery.
–Plan on being there about 3 – 4 hours. There will be some waiting before the surgery, but the surgery itself takes literally minutes. Dr. Abrams and the surgery tech Ria were great at communicating what was happening before they did everything. Just breathe, stay calm, and it’ll be over before you know it.
–Bring your own sunglasses or wear the ones they give you.
–Go home right away to SLEEP. Tell your friend-​chauffeur to bring you food when s/​he picks you up :).
Post-​op:
–Use the eye drops as directed. Wherever you go, take your eye drops.
–Don’t rub your eyes or wear eye make-​up
–I recommend booking your follow-​up appointments around lunch-​time and swinging by In-​N-​Out, which is like a 2 min drive away. #ProTip
–Enjoy your new superhero vision!

I finally got my lasik surgery done this Saturday. I have the say the actual process took only about ten minutes (both eyes). I had the PRK procedure.
I could tell that my eye sights are proving each day as I recover. The whole team at LASIK Institute was really friendly and nice.

I consider myself a reasonably intelligent person, but entrusting my eyesight to a Groupon deal was probably not my best-​ever idea. To make a long story short, after I waited 4.5 hours in a packed waiting room to be operated on, there was a glitch with my eye surgery here where the laser stopped midway through cutting a flap in my eye.
Imagine this: The surgeon has started your eye surgery after you’ve spent all day waiting at the clinic. Suddenly, you can tell from the conversation between the surgeon and the surgery tech that something’s not going right. You ask if everything’s alright, and after a long pause, the surgeon, Dr. Abrams, says no, there’s been a problem with your surgery. The surgeon sits you up and tells you that there was a problem with the laser, and it stopped midway through cutting a flap in your eye. They cannot complete the surgery, and your eye will need to heal. You ask incredulously, «There was a problem with the laser during my eye surgery?», and the surgeon confirms that yes, there was. Picture how terrified and angry you’d be. You do NOT want the laser operating on your eye to malfunction!
According to the other doctor on staff and the surgery tech, Dr. Abrams’ explanation turned out to to be inaccurate; I was simply one of those unlucky, relatively rare souls who turns out to be a poor candidate for traditional LASIK, despite what the initial exam showed. There was not a «problem with the laser»; it did exactly as it was supposed to by shutting off when a potentially unsafe situation occurred.
I could have gone for another procedure called PRK after waiting a month or so for my eye to heal, but the experience just left too sour of a taste in my mouth to proceed. I found Dr. Abrams’ lack of ability to be both honest and accurate in explaining the nature of the issue with my surgery to be problematic, to put it lightly. I understand that nobody’s perfect, but this was someone who was operating on a critical body part of mine, and after all, he’s done this LASIK thing once or twice before! It was also a huge pain to NOT have my vision corrected and still have to deal with healing from eye surgery, including taking medication and the time to come in for two separate follow-​up appointments.
I do want say that the office staff was great, as was Dr. Lee. They admitted Dr. Abrams did a poor job of handling the scenario and really tried to make it right. Jakylin, the very sweet and professional office manager, issued a request for a refund for both me and my husband, who was scheduled for the procedure the following week. However, my experience in dealing with their corporate office has added insult to injury. I was initially told by Jakylin that it would take up to 30 days. After 3+ weeks, I followed up with the corporate office. After multiple unreturned phone calls, I finally got a window of 6 – 8 weeks for the refund. That’s a LONG time to be out that amount of money for an unsuccessful surgery. I’m still waiting for my refund at the time of this review.
This experience could have been merely slightly inconvenient instead of fairly traumatizing with improved bedside manner on behalf of the surgeon. Based on the fact that I walked in to get my vision corrected and walked out both completely freaked out and as nearsighted as ever, AND am still waiting for my money back four weeks later, this place gets one star from me. When I paid half-​price for eye surgery, I wasn’t expecting to actually get half of an eye surgery! Hey, I guess you get what you pay for.

One week after surgery, I am now a fan of the center. Surgery day went well, everyone was much more personal. Dr. Abrams was so cool and comforting. We laughed a lot together. The day after surgery, I was on my computer without glasses! Today I am going for my 2^nd post op exam and I feel like I have perfect vision.
One thing to note for busy people like me, there are 2 very long appointments, the pre exam and the surgery day, and then you need to come back 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, and 1 year after for post ops.
I think the only thing that Lasik could do better is give you a handout which outlines all of this, as well as tells you that you should stock up on non prescription eye drops without preservatives (In addition to the prescription drops). I did not know this until my 1^st post op. In addition, you need to bring a phone with your groupon coupon pulled up (they don’t take a print out), but there is no wifi there, so send it to Jakylin before you go.
All in all, I am not sure who’s at fault for the below, could have been a combination of a lazy CVS pharmacist, or the Lasik center not sending my prescription… but all is well and I am very happy that I went though with this.
I was very concerned about getting my eyes fixed thru a groupon coupon, but the price was half of what I ever heard of for Lasik… $ 2400 total for 2 eyes with a lifetime guarantee. (The German in me can never pass up a good deal)
I am a lighting designer that relies on my sight to do what I do and run my business. I feel like I took a risk, but I am so happy I did!
It was a rough start of going to the center for a pre-​exam during a really busy day due to the Groupon, but I am retracting my poor review below. But it did happen though.
For the price… I highly suggest the Lasik Vision Institute. If you have money to blow, you may get more personalized treatment elsewhere.

Well, my surgery is this tomorrow, and yet to get my prescription.
I asked Jakylin 2 weeks ago, then went to CVS and nothing was there. I called and spoke to someone who answered the phone at LVI and she said she would call it in and call me right back to confirm, but never heard back. (Seems they were very attentive when signing me up for this surgery, but too busy to follow through.)
Called again and spoke with Jakylin, who ensured me that she was going to send it «again», called CVS, and she only sent half of it, the eye drops but no Lorazepam (used to treat anxiety the day of the surgery), of which I requested several times in addition to the drops. Ok, so I am stressing over the drug that is to make me less stressed… seems odd. Now, I am calling at 9:20 AM and only getting the answering service (they open at 9)
I live 30 minutes away from CVS, so 1 hour round trip will be wasted again if they still do not get this right. Hopefully surgery will be less stressful that this simple exercise!
Between waiting 2 hours with 50 others for the pre-​exam, and now this, I am feeling a bit like cattle at this point.
PS, reached Jakylin at 9:30, Called CVS and it is finally correct

Soon after I posted my prior review, the office manager Jacqueline Jones called me the next day to apologize for the poor service of K and promised this will be the last time this would happen. My experience with the supervillain K was not an isolated incident, and Jacqueline promised if she does not see an improvement, then K will no longer be employed there. It was nice hearing that my feedback was heard and taken seriously, and I had a great discussion with Jacqueline, who made me feel a lot better. Hopefully my vision will continue to improve, and my dry eyes will return to normal.

I received the PRK procedure over 3 months ago. The procedure itself and the followup appointments were great.
Now I’m waiting for the 6 month period of recovery time for my eyes to heal, some patience is still needed on my side.
I had some concerns with the experiences during my visits, but Jacklyn, the manager reached out to me to resolve the issues.

So far I have nothing but great things to say about Lasik Vision Institute. I came in this morning for a consultation and am scheduled for PRK eye surgery on May 30^th. Everyone has been amazingg, professional and friendly. Jacklyn is ahhhh-​mazing and a gem to Lasik Vision Institute. Excited about my upcoming surgery and the ability to be able to see when I wake up in the morning. Stay tuned…

So here I am, wearing my old folks blu-​blockers out of my consultation. So yeeEee, I’m a canidate for lasik… but now that means $$$. These mofos have it down to a science, I just might go with them, we’ll see. I’m getting a 2^nd opinion before I move forward though. Ernesto G. was a cool cat, I enjoyed his sytle. Jacki, first off, congrats again, but your a tough cookie to crack. If I go with ya, you beter be in the room talking me thru the 120 second process or holding my hand for this kinda cheese. What can I say… I’m a baller on a budget. LoL I’ll give 5 stars if/​when I do this surgery, so long as I can see afterwards.

Its been almost a month now since i got PRK lasik surgery here by Dr. Abrams and before i mention the surgery itself i wanted to start this review off by saying this place was great! The staff was really nice and helpful with all my questions, they’re really courteous when it comes to scheduling follow up appointments as they give you a call a few days before the date set. Also, you can come in anytime after surgery if you have more questions or need replacement sun glasses (i broke mine and i thought of a lot of questions after i left lol)
Now about the surgery… On surgery day i was checked in at the front desk and sat in the waiting area for about 5min (seemed like forever since i was nervous lol) a women named jakylin came and sat me in a room to get prepped. She basically told me a little more about the procedure and what to expect, also some do’s and dont’s about the medical drops that you put in your eyes post surgery. When i got in the room i was greeted by Dr abrams and two other Surgery techs (someone that watches over the whole surgery and someone that keeps track of the amount of time the laser is on your eye) he told me to sit down and try to stay as still as possible. He continued by putting eye clamps on both of my eyes and numbing drops (completely quick and painless). after sitting for about 2min to let the drops set he told me to look up at this yellowish red light and to try my best not to move my eyes (pretty easy to do with numbing drops in them lol). once the laser hit my eyes the only thing i felt was my fist gripping the chair i was sitting in, SERIOUSLY you dont feel the laser at all!!! I just remember looking up at the yellowish red light and the Surgery tech counting to 25. He spent about 1min on each eye and i was done, NO JOKE! When i sat up i could immediately see clear but my eyes was still a bit numb. He gave me my dark shades and sent me on my way (i set up my return appointment before hand) I literally just walked out the front door 20 MINS TOPS. (Had a friend pick me up. DO NOT LASIK AND DRIVE Lol)
Now For the good part… After leaving the clinic you can expect almost immediate clear vision but it will blur sometimes so u shouldnt go to work or drive the first two days. Your eyes will be VERY sensitive to any light not just the sun (tv, house lights, car lights cell phone light ect). WEAR YOUR GLASSES THEY GIVE YOU AT ALL TIMES even if your just going to the bathroom. After a week of putting two different drops in your eyes your vision will start to focus alot better. After week two you can start to take the glasses off around the house but not outside. With PRK your vision gets better over time so be patient!!! I was freaking out the first week but i was reassured by the Dr. That it would get better which he was right!!! O and i forgot to say, when you leave they put contacts in your eyes that you cannot take out at all for a whole week! But when they do your vision gets blurry again because your eyes have to adjust to not having contacts in. After week three you can expect some what ²⁰⁄₂₀ vision! Also you wont wear the glasses as much, only when your eyes are bothered.
Now… Its been 1 full month since i had my surgery and 100’s of eye drops later i can see soooooooo clear. I have ²⁰⁄₁₀ vision! (My eyes were –5 before surgery) i have no light sensitivity, i dont see see halo’s like some people claim, and i dont need my dark glasses anymore!!! I AM FREE OF CONTACTS. Sometimes when im on the freeway i read license plates just for fun :) also my night vision is crazy! I can see street signs my friends cannot. seriously I recommend this to anyone thats unhappy with there vision!!!
Last word of advice, make sure you are very patient!!! It took me a whole month to get where im at, PRK lasik takes longer to heal. Also TAKE YOUR DROPS AS RECOMMENDED!!! Its very important as it helps with redness and irritation.
The recovery was a lot worse then the procedure since your vision is not 100% right away. Be patient my friend. Thank you lasik institute for letting me finally see the world clear. (If you read this long a#$ review give it a like :)

I was a bit hesitant on buying a Groupon for eye surgery but after some thorough research, I went ahead and purchased it. I was not a candidate for LASIK but a candidate for PRK (a different type of vision correction but the same Groupon applies).
Everyone in the office was very friendly and professional.
With PRK, the recovery is a bit longer but this was explained in detail prior to the surgery. I have nothing bad to say about the LASIK Vision Institute and definitely recommend it.

Wow.
I received a consultation on ¹⁄₃₁. I was told that I would be given a call a few days later bc they are closed on Mondays.
Well, today is ²⁄₁₂.
I had called yesterday and was assured I would be given a call. Nope, no call
So, I called again today, and was put on hold forever. I ended up just hanging up.

I’ve got to start off by saying that I DID NOT get a LASIK procedure done here.
I went in for an evaluation just the other week and was really impressed with the staff whom were very friendly and accommodating, as well as the office which was really clean and inviting.
I had a full evaluation and even scheduled an appointment to have surgery but was unfortunately unable to follow through for the time being due to outside circumstances. The entire time everyone who I interfaced with were calm, happy, and more than willing to answer any questions and concerns that I had at any point. This review is for the staff and the overall vibe of the office and the evaluation procedure, all of which were fantastic!
I would not hesitate to look into the Lasik Vision Institute if you’re thinking about getting LASIK.

So I want to start by being the first reviewer to get the PRK surgery and be very happy about it. The adventure started with my roommate getting laser eye surgery a week before me for $ 5000. My brother-​in-​law got the surgery from a Groupon year before for $ 3000. So when I went on Groupon and found that the surgery was $ 1400 at this place I thought it was a joke. I called the Institute and they set up a free check up for my eyes to see if I was a candidate and said if I didn’t feel comfortable I could leave and it would be totally free. I went in and was completely impressed, bought the Groupon while I was there in the waiting room, and had the surgery one week later.
The entire staff was extremely pleasant and after a week and a half I can say that I can easily see ²⁰⁄₂₀ vision and I am very happy with the results. I still can’t believe that the Groupon deal was real and that they did a very good job and that I no longer have to wear glasses anymore.
The surgery itself is completely painless, but it is one of the most terrifying things I’ve ever done. Afterwords my hands were shaking but the doctor was very patient and very kind the entire time. I would 100% recommend anybody to go to this place and to definitely use the Groupon if you get a chance.
I have heard many horror stories about the recovery for the surgery, but it really wasn’t bad and I only had to take off one day of work but I had to have somebody drive me into work for the next two days. One of the weirdest things is that the recovery means that one day your eyes can be blurry and the next day really clear but after two weeks it’s perfect vision.
