Specialties
The Bikery is a Cycles of Change Oakland not-for-profit, collectively run community bike shop. We offer a range of affordable bike for sale, repairs, classes and community events.
You can also come in and work on your own bike during our community shop hours, which start an hour after we open, and end an hour before we close. We will have tools and mechanics around to help answer questions and help you work on your own bike!
At the Bikery we work with youth interns from local high schools, training them in bike mechanic job skills and experience participating in a collectively-run business.
History
Established in 2009.
The Bikery started as a project of Cycles of Change, a 12 year old bike education organization. We opened with the goal of being an accessible and affordable community shop space in our Oakland community. We work to make our space a safe and creative place for youth to come together, learning and being empowered by a necessary skillset as bike mechanics.
At the Bikery we believe bikes are a necessary, creative, and self-reliant part of movement building as we work towards social and environmental justice in our communities.

We are also honored to be working together with youth interns and volunteers from local high schools– developing skills in bike mechanics, environmental stewardship, and experience participating in a collectively-run business.
Our collective is also greatly supported by the contributions of incredible and dedicated volunteers who make all of this amazing work happen!
