Taylor’s Sausage

We stopped by on our way home from Jack London Square and picked up some sausages. It tooks less than 5 minutes to locate them.
The sausages tasted freshly made and were suprisingly lean. We picked up two each of the spicy, boudin and potato sausages for about $ 15 total. I grilled them on my bbq the next day low and slow. At the end, I turned up the heat to get some char and they came out great.
Parking is limited to street and Taylor’s shares a store front with some other vendors in the same building.

Taylor meats in old Oakland has been here longer then I know so this tells me they know what their doing. Ray and Harold behind the counter are knowledgeable and have A+ Ham hocks for slow cooking beans and other dishes that call for smoked Ham hocks. I also buy their pork sausage for Italian dishes. They have regular and Hot and it don’t stop there it just begins because they make outstanding pork links, many to choose from so buy different link sausages and have a Bbq tasting this weekend why not you just found the spot.

This place is great! The workers are really friendly and not shy about giving you tips for picking products and cooking them the right way. It’s all preservative free and (unlike a lot of sausage spots I’ve been to) the casing doesn’t get all rubber if I need to settle for cooking it in a pan. They’ve got stuff for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. My favorite is the Boudin, but I don’t think I’ve tried anything I really didn’t like. Prices are great here, too!

I love Taylor’s Sausage and have been coming here for over 20 years. I love the bulk sausage for breakfast, smoked pork chops and Italian sausages for breakfast. Get my BBQ supplies here too — ribs, boudin. Plus the pork roasts, smoked hocks. Delish!

One of two meat markets located in the awesomeness that is swan’s market, Taylor’s specializes in pork products including a focus on sausage, just like it says in the name.
Note that this is not a prepared food place-it’s a butcher specializing in pork and sausage. So if you’re in a hotel coming to swans for drinks and food skip over this, but if you have access to a fridge and a stove/​grill this place is for you.
The bratwurst, wieners and Italian are all standout items, and if you are looking for a custom cut pork roast, this is the place. They also have old school thick cut pork chops.
The hot links are decent and they have a range of specialty items like potato sausage, andouille, and boudin. These aren’t quite the same as we had back home, but they are the best you’ll find in northern cali for sure.
Perfect for getting half of what you need for a beer n’ brats grill weekend.

So good. Come here every week to pick up sausages with my roommate. everything is good but the boudin blanc mild and the german sausage are really special.
Poach in water until cooked through, about 8 minutes. Finish in a hot pan with butter to get color. Dont overcook these guys, theyre so juicy when you do them right.

Love this place moved away. Wished they mailed their product. A new market they can explore

I’ve been wanting to go there. I had seen online they carried Boudin. Being from south Louisiana, I wouldn’t believe it until I saw it myself.
Then one day, while I was waiting for my order from Miss Ollies, I decided to walk around the corner and check out Taylor’s. To my delight, they had Boudin: mild and hot. They also carried Andouille Sausage. I was so excited. I bought 2 links of hot Boudin and 2 Andouille. I couldn’t wait to try them.
When I finally did try them, I was pleasantly satisfied. Though it’s not exactly like back home, it’s a very good second place. I’ve found my new happy shop!!!

Love this place, every since I can remember my family has used Taylor beef links for our gumbo. I currently live in San Mateo, I commuted on this past Saturday to purchase $ 60 worth of mild beef links and four andouille sausage. I was given the wrong order on accident, they’re closed on Sunday, they exchanged them with no problem, in fact they let me keep the other ones. Thanks Jan! These are truly by far the best sausage in and out of town.

These guys are the pros. You cannot find fresher more delicious sausages anywhere. Added bonus is they have been in the business forever and can make a fantastic recommendation. Consistently fresh and delicious.

I love these guys. The spicy sausage with thyme is a must on my weekly shopping list — it would make cat poop taste good. The sweet pork (on rice) is amazing for a quick dinner and don’t miss the honey ham sticks. The best part is that they are SO NICE. I’ll often walk away with samples (and usually come back the next week to add to my order!).
I don’t think I’ve bought anything here and not loved it. The other day I went over with a general idea for dinner («some kind of meaty paella») and the guy just gave me a full direction on which sausage, how to cook, etc. And it was delicious of course.
Good prices, good people, good pork. \o/

I’ve never actually been to Taylor’s to purchase their sausages but I was able to taste the quality this weekend when I was bbqing at an event where my client purchased Taylor’s for me to grill.
I tried the Louisiana Hot, Pork and Rice, Spicy Pork and Rice. They were so delicious! I’m usually a Evergood sausage fan but these were on another level! I will be stopping in soon to pick up some for myself!

Taylor’s is THE best place to get your pork products on! All their sausages are fantastic, but the Boudin Blancs are AMAZING. I often get a slab of side pork while I’m there, Slice that up and salt it with kosher salt, put it in the oven… BAM!!! My kids would rather have that over bacon any day. The owner and his wife are super nice and all the employees there are so cool.

Nice locally made sausage but the flavor profile of the sausages were lacking. Too salty and lacked seasoning. Reasonably priced though. Hot seller is their breakfast sausage. I went back twice to try it and each time it was sold out.

The thing I love most about Taylor’s is how genuinely kind their staff are and how exquisitely on point their sausages are.
The first time I dropped by Taylor’s, I needed a couple of beef sausage links for a pasta dish I was feigning to make. It was my second day in the neighborhood and I was unfamiliar with the store hours. Despite me dropping by on a day they were CLOSED, the owner asked me what I needed and was happy to sell me the sausages! But the story doesn’t end there… I was still scatter-​brained from the move and had left my wallet at home. But that wasn’t a problem, the owner just gave them to me for free!
That generosity (and the quality of the sausages) has kept me coming back over and over again. Each visit, he recommends new sausages to try and if I seem hesitant about it, he just throws in a couple links in there for free — urging me to give them a try and promising that I’ll love them. And every time I do!
All of their staff are very friendly and attentive. All of the different kinds of sausages and meat products I’ve tried have been delicious. My favorites are the longanisas and the ground pork with sage, and the chicken boudin sausages.
I’m happy to be supporting this small business and love the kindness & good will they spread in our neighborhood! Thank you!

HOLE IN THE WALL! Only found it cuz I was passing through!
Came here and bought a handful of sausages! So many different flavors at varying heat levels. For those that are watching their figure, you can settle on some mild cajun chicken sausages. They even sell longanisa for all the Pinoys out there!
Looking to buy some meat for your next BBQ party, come here! It’s the real deal!

Finally picked up a pound of Taylor’s highly recommended Andouille sausage for a Gumbo I was making. I also picked up a pound of Hot Boudin sausage for breakfast. Both sausages were great with the perfect amount of spice and heat. The seafood Gumbo turned out great with the Andouille. If you are cooking some Louisiana dishes I highly recommend their Andouille and Hot Boudin. I can’t wait to try Taylor’s other sausages.

Being from Texas every once in awhile I crave for boudin and I really didn’t think they would have any in the Bay Area, however one day I was craving bad and did some research and found Taylor’s sausage! I drove 50 minutes from San Jose and grabbed me about 3 pounds regular and 3 pounds spicy! I must say the spicy is a lot better! I went home boiled it and double deep fried them for some crispy texture! Craving satisfied! On top of that the staff and manager was very welcoming! Well definitely come back for my boudin needs! They have a lot of other meat specialties I might have to try also!

I so don’t wanna give them a bad review, but I was referred to them by my aunt who kills for their sausage. I got the hot beef links (not hot enough for my taste, by the way because I like my mouth on fire) but I bought two pounds of hot links and they taste FANTASTIC, but unfortunately I found a blondish hair wrapped up in one of the casings. I paid damn near $ 13 for my 2lbs of links so I’m gonna need people to wear hairnets up in this place. NOT cool.
NEVER AGAIN! After I found the first little hair, I found another waay longer hair wrapped around the outside of another link. DONE! Ridiculous. Please get that together. That is disgusting!

great sausages. Very good quality meats. Definite winners are Boudin (blanc and spicy), longasina, Reviewers who mention the beers or grabbing lunch here are not reviewing Taylors… they are referring to the restaurant next door. Taylor’s is a meat market/​butcher shop and they don’t serve meals or beer. If you see a high concentration of skinny jeans, ironic tees and facial hair, you are probably at Rosamunde.

One of my favorite meat markets in Oakland. They are super knowledgeable about meat and are super friendly.
I usually get the hot sausage. I would love it if they had more variety of meat options… especially turkey.

Taylor’s is the bomb-​diggety place to pick up all of your porky needs. They’ve got sausages up the wazoo, shoulders, belly, ground pork, ham hocks, snack sticks, bacon, chorizo, and much, much more.
You can’t go wrong with the boudin blanc. But today, I picked up some of the Swedish potato sausages. I haven’t cooked them yet, but I’m sure they’re going to be amazing!
Unlike my other favorite pork store, Prime Smoked Meats, you don’t have to buy in bulk. I picked up a ham hock and four sausages for twelve bucks. Not bad.

Wide variety. Nice employees. Cheap beers. This means you’ll have an excellent lunch.
Be aware they only take cash or Paypal.

Meat is still pretty good, but the prices over the past year or two have gotten to the point where it’s cheaper to go to Dragers or Piazzas or Ditmers.
Maybe they need to pay for riot insurance, but they will no longer be on my regular shopping list.

I’m not sure if he’s the owner but there is one man who is always working around 5pm during the week who is just fabulous. Like a pork matchmaker, he analyzes my recipe then determines the right sausage.
Here’s my perfect dinner = pick up 2 boudin blanc and 2 boudin spicy sausages. Fill a skillet with little less than .25″ of beer. Simmer until done. Mmmmm…
This is not the place for you vegetarians. It’s all meat — meat — meat. Being a good German girl, it’s hard to pass up three display cases of sausages. They also make their own pepperoni sticks and you can buy bulk sausage meat perfect for breakfast casseroles.
