GROSS! I’m writing this review a few minutes after I just ordered a sandwich. The story… I was greeted by a woman(Indian woman, I’m being specific so the Manager takes notice) while she was flossing her teeth. SERIOUSLY! I’m looking at the menu, deciding on what to order, she then pops around the corner flossing her teeth, then disposes of the floss in the garbage before putting the plastic gloves on to make my sandwich. DIDNOTWASHHERHANDS! Look, perhaps in her native country, flossing teeth in front of a customer, disposing of the floss in front of a customer, not washing hands, and making a sandwich is ok but to me, that’s gross! Top that off, her and the other two women working the counter were so rude that even if the gross experience didn’t happen, I’ll never come back! I was not greeted once, not once did she say thank you come again or any slight appreciation for me being a customer. I asked for pickles… She began to close the sandwich so I asked for pickles again. She said, «you said no pickles.» I said, no I asked for pickles… No response, no «I’m sorry, my mistake.» Instead it was a cold, turned off attitude, as if I was being difficult or something… it’s just pickles… I tried Subway for a quick sandwich during lunch time, since it is only a few blocks from where I work… LASTTIME I’M GOINGHERE. STAYAWAY… UNLESSYOU’RECOOLWITHSOMEONEMAKINGYOU A SANDWICHWITHOUTWASHINGTHEIRHANDS… GROSS!

First time I went there a few months back, I walked in when the guy working was putting stuff away. He didn’t seem too happy to have people come in for business 30 minutes before closing. Yesterday, Tuesday, I showed up with a group of 4 biker friends and we wanted a quick bite to eat at around 8:40pm, but the door was locked. The sign on the window clearly says business hours are up until 9pm. I was so pissed off, because there was a backpack near the front table inside, which meant there was someone inside… probably hiding until 9pm so they could go home. Maybe they should just move to a different area if they’re not going to honor their business hours.

The place just plain sucks. I’ve never been in such a dysfunctional shop in my life. They don’t even know how to make what they advertise.

This place has really gone downhill over the past few months. Apparently it has changed owners and it shows, badly. I realize this is the Bay Area and immigrants are the norm, but honestly when you cannot communicate with the person making your sandwich, it really makes things difficult. As hard as I tried I couldn’t get the very scared girl behind the counter to understand I wanted«wheat bread» and I won’t even go into selecting veggies which descended into her pointing to each container and me shaking my head yes or no. In addition it was clear as day that none of the people behind the counter had ever encountered a Subway prior to setting foot in this place. The whole Subway concept was something they didn’t grasp. Bad service, dirty restaurant and completely clueless employees pretty much sums it up.

I’ve been coming here because it’s convenient for me. Went there yesterday and as the server started to make my sandwich, he went to the back(as the cashier demanded him so) and came out with a wad of ones. Then proceeded on making my sandwich… Without switching to clean gloves. This is unacceptable since I got sick the first time some lady made my sandwich after handling cash. I went ahead and purchased the sandwich and then threw it away. Never coming back here again!

This was a subway I hadn’t heard great things from but since there aren’t many quick food options in the area I gave it a go. I got there more than 10 minutes before 9:00pm which is their closing time but the boy behind the counter had already locked the doors. I looked at the hours posted to the window, double checked my phone for the time & made eye contact with the worker who had stopped to watch me. As we made eye contact he gave me a rude hand gesture & scowl as if I shouldn’t be confused over the store being closed during supposed ‘working hours’. I couldn’t believe the workers rudeness. Even through the door. I guess I’m glad I didn’t have to deal with him aside from that. It couldn’t have been a much better experience directly face to face I bet.

Look, subway is easy to make so it’s not about the food. The food is what it is, and is meant to be uniform. I went in at 3:30PM on 3÷18÷13 and one person was working. Well, actually she was talking on the phone. Her phone not the business phone. She was too busy to stock the place, because they only had flat bread and plain Italian. They also were out of types of cheeses. Except they were in the back. Yes, her phone was more important. She was letting me know I had disturbed her by the dirty looks and impatient glares when I was merely ordering my sandwich. Although I knew 100% what I wanted before I arrived, it couldn’t be fast enough for her and half the time she couldn’t be bothered saying a word. She just stared. This is the first negative review I have done on this site. I’m really not much for reviews at all. But seriously, with unremarkable food all you have is service. I don’t expect to be cowtowed to, just not treated like an asshole because I walked in the door. There was nobody else there. Nobody. The square itself was empty. Her impatience was unwarranted.

Nice service from the lady whom was very patient with my order. But other than the nice service everything else was pretty bad. For the sandwich to start of the bread wasn’t fresh. Usually I don’t like my bread toasted and usually it doesn’t have to be because the bread should be made fresh everyday; guess maybe they didn’t get the memo. The next thing was they’ve skimped out on everything, the meat, veggies, and cheese. I mean where was the salt and pepper oil and vinegar??? I ordered a ham and turkey sandwich. They gave me 2 slices of ham and turkey, two slices of cheese, very few spinach(i called it few because i was able to count the leaves) two sliced of cucumber and two slices of tomato. That was a very sad sandwich i feel. Usually my subway sandwiches would have things falling out during every bite, sadly not this time. I’ll try again next time just because i do like subway and everyone deserves a second chance.

Fast and always a safe bet whenever I forget my lunch. I work in the courts, and theres basically NOTHING to eat in the barren food wasteland that is Lake Merritt area. But Subway has been consistently good. The service is pretty fast(except sometimes I get the asian lady behind the register who moves at molasses speed). I always get the meatball one… which kind of defeats the purpose of eating at subway to «eat fresh» or whatever, but who cares? I LIKEMEAT

This place would get 4, MAYBE even 5 stars for its convenience and healthy fare. However, there is a significant communication barrier between me and the«Sandwich Creators/Makers.» If I could understand them and they me for at least ¼ of the conversation, perhaps this would make for a more pleasant experience. That, however, is not the case.

Free parking and good quiet spot to get a sandwich. I go there on the weekends in the afternoon and there was hardly anyone around. The 1 clerk on duty may get swamped if there’s suddenly a rush hour.

This place took over a year to open, but it was well worth the wait. I live right above this Subway, so when I don’t feel like cooking I go below and get a foot long here. Everyone is very friendly and I especially like when Raj makes my sandwich. He adds a special touch and makes small talk with me.

This should be the newer Subway in Jack London area, with no meter parking outside… I come here often as I go to get supplies in the area… I usually order the same thing, have for over 10 years, although I have just started this year, missed quite a few years prior… Southshore was my choice before, many years ago. This place is new, so very clean, kids at the counters always change their gloves so it goes to show… Oh yeah, I always order the meatball footlong with provolone, toasted, then add a few red onions and green peppers, very very satisfying…

I started going here recently because I moved over here. 1st experience. Cute mixed girl behind the counter. very friendly made sandwich pretty decent. I paid with credit card but I think she forgot and ended up giving me 50 cents back in change? Stood there with a blank and put the change in the tip jar. It was near closing so I will give her the benefit of the doubt that she was tired. Not a big deal though. 2nd visit was yesterday. The girl making the sandwich(pink streaks in hair) was pretty friendly and made the sandwich better than the first time. overall I’d say this is one of the better subways in the Oakland Area

This subway is close to my work. Subways are basically the same. This one is a little better than the rest. They give a little more meat. New and clean. Good spot if you want subway.
