Specialties
In my practice I work with issues such as: anxiety, depression, relationship dynamics, grief and loss, trauma and substance abuse and recovery. I provide individual psychotherapy and couples counseling to clients seeking to improve the quality of their lives and relationships.
My practice focuses on awareness-building in service of self-actualization. Self-actualization is defined as the process of harnessing our strengths and potential in order to feel more alive and present in our lives. Everyone is welcome in my practice. I specialize in working with the LGBTQIQ community, women, and young adults. Therapeutic themes of specialization include personal growth, grief and loss, identity issues, life transitions, substance abuse and recovery, and self-esteem.
History
Established in 2014.
After ten years of working in the mental health and substance abuse fields I started my own practice to focus on providing individualized care to clients who are committed to making changes in their lives, seeking to better understand themselves, and are looking for support in meeting their goals.
A note about Yelp reviews:
The California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists Ethics Code states it is unethical for MFTs to solicit testimonials from clients. Since a client may decide to return to therapy with me at a later date, I do not solicit testimonials from people who have ended therapy with me. Also, while I highly value feedback, I gently discourage clients from posting an online review due to concerns about confidentiality. If you have feedback please speak with me as part of your therapy. I do not intend to respond to any reviews as I must provide confidentiality to my clients.
Meet the Business Owner
Samantha Y.
Business Owner
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (#80 002) and member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.
I strive to ensure that my clients are clear about what they are learning and gaining from psychotherapy. This includes the identification of supportive tools and coping skills that continue to aid clients after the completion of therapy.
I believe life is about growth, change and embracing our present and unknown. I believe in our innate ability to heal and grow, and that fostering personal development is one of the most significant ways we contribute to our relationships, family and community.
As your therapist I will engage with you honestly, directly and compassionately. I look forward to working with you!
