Rocky’s Market, originally opened in 1961 by Rocky Dudum, is now back in the Oakmore community of Oakland, CA! Rocky opened the market to provide the freshest and best groceries to the community, and now in 2015, Rocky’s Market is back with the very same goals for the community: to bring back quality, service and customer satisfaction as it was years ago.

In 1961, Rocky Dudum started Rocky’s Market to provide the freshest and best groceries to your community. He went off in 1972 to help his father and brothers with their family business. Over the years Rocky has owned the property but sold the store. Now retired, Rocky still has the love for the community and wants to bring back your neighborhood grocery store. When Rocky first opened the store in 1961, there were no large chain grocery stores like there are today. Rocky’s goal for the community is to bring back quality, service and customer satisfaction as it was years ago.

Love Rocky’s! We’ve been impressed with their desire to renovate the market, listen to the needs of the neighbors and create a vibrant spot in Oakmore /​Glenview area in Oakland.
The employees of Rocky’s are always friendly and helpful. The market provides a good selection of food items, plus, we appreciate the addition of a deli, fresh food counter — hopefully it will open on weekends soon.

Ever since the recent renovation, Rocky’s has been a great, friendly place to get groceries locally. I mostly shop at Safeway but I found that I end up going to rockys very often and I don’t feel bad about spending a little bit more on certain items when sporting such a well designed local business.
And now, THEY HAVE A CAFE! The neighborhood has been asking for it for a long long time and finally it’s happened, Rocky’s has a nice little café that serves breakfast, lunch, espresso and drip coffee. I just had a breakfast sandwich there and it was awesome!

This review is all about the Two Local Girls deli in the back of Rocky’s Market.
The deli is now open! Mushroom Panini is delicious! A must for mushroom lovers. The salami sandwich is great. Nice thick layer of meat. The tuna sandwich is very good. The capers really give it a «fish» kick. The veggie sandwich is good (and I don’t even like cucumbers). Nice selection of ice creams. Staff is friendly and competent. The computer payment system sort of pushes you to tip but since the food and service is good that’s not a problem. We’ll be back! Thank you Two Local Girls.

Had some good deals on clearance items. Didn’t find the produce terribly fresh, but seems like a friendly neighborhood market.

Amazingly large selection and variety — well chosen and high quality choices too. The fresh produce is always good, and we can usually grab the odd ingredient or two we need for dinner without bothering with a larger supermarket.
Always friendly people too, really starting to feel like a neighborhood market. The owner apparently has many years’ experience, and it shows. They deserve to do really well!

Awesome selection of quality organic and natural food products. Really great selection of beers too.
The employees are amazing, they are the most helpful of any grocery store i’ve ever been to.
There’s also a parking lot that always has spaces open to park, even at rush hour!

Great neighborhood grocery store. Friendly staff is community-​oriented. Lots the organic options, fragrance free products, good selection of wines. The 2 for $ 1 avocados got me in the door… so yummy.

This is a great little neighborhood market, choc full of organic and specialty goods. It’s perfect for grabbing some staple items or a missing ingredient without having to drive down to one of the corporate competitors.
I particularly like the bulk food bin and ate a stack of whole wheat fig bars this afternoon. Service is friendly in a neighborhood market sort of way. If you’re short a few cents, it’s all good. And those in need of assistance are offered a hand with bringing bags to their car.
As a small suggestion, I would suggest signage in the store that reflects the logo on their website and spiffy grocery bags.

Rockys is such a great local store. I am so glad it was reopened, by the original owner no less! I stop there all the time on my way home for last minute items, which is very convenient and right on my daily commute route. I love all the organic and local food offerings they carry. I find their meat section and produce prices are also comparable to Safeway/​Luckys. Plus they have Apple Pay — bonus for a quick and easy check out. Try their «Slow Joe» coffee if you haven’t already, Chris roasts it himself and it’s absolutely delicious. Art and Rocky both do a great job of adding to the friendly neighborhood vibe. Keep it up Rocky’s!

Friendly staff, fresh produce, yummy Grand Bakery treats, and delicious single drip coffees. The prices are very reasonable and they are open 8−8pm, which is convenient. So lucky to have Rocky’s in the neighborhood!

We’re so glad the old/​new Rocky’s is back (even my dog who gets treats when she goes). The staff are friendly and engaging, the food and produce selection are great, and there are tons of great micro brews. I’m excited to try their new drip coffee, as I liked the bag of SloJoy I bought before. This meets 95% of our shopping needs, is super convenient and has charm.

Spacious and well-​stocked for yuppie shoppers like myself. Found a perfect jar of mixed Greek olives I needed for a recipe. Awesome craft beer selection. Looks like the freezer section is still being worked on – grand opening isn’t until April 24.

The new Rockys is great and a wonderful addition to the neighborhood. Good produce selection and prices. Good beer selection too. Easy parking. Convenient. Super friendly staff. They say a coffee bar is coming soon and maybe some prepared foods. And hopefully some ice cream by the summer.

Glad to see this place back up and running! It’s under new management which is quickly noticeable upon first walking in to the store (the store looks more open, bright, and smells better too). Friendly service. There always seemed to be an employee within eye’s view which is a must when you’re running a market (to prevent any pesky thefts). Prices are a bit hefty, but that’s what you gotta expect when purchasing ALL «organic» produce and foodstuffs. Yep, that’s right. I said foodstuffs. :-) I’d definitely come back again to see what else they add on in their store.

Rockys is back! I live so close and kept waiting to see the open sign in the window after the previous store managers had to close. Totally worth the wait! It’s soooo much better.
The produce is fresh and ripe (could use more variety but I am used to Farmer Joes so…) The shelves are stocked with organic and other quality brands, they have tables outside and it sounds like they have a lot more planned. More fridge space, a café and prepared & hot food are coming soon, say the guys working there. We joked at the check out about a neighbor’s review on NextDoor of «the best avocado ever!» but seriously, the strawberries I bought put the ones I bought at Farmer’s Joes for a little more money to shame! Wow. I realize sometimes that’s just luck or timing but I’m definitely pleased so far. The best part is it’s so close to home I can walk instead of driving! Yay. Welcome back. We missed you :)

What a great addition to the neighborhood! Completely renovated, can’t wait for the coffee service. Love the convenience to pick up organic greek yogurt and fresh fruit. Nice selection of veggies and good meat section. Ample parking is a plus!
