Rockridge Luggage & Leather Goods

This is the only place I go to for my travel needs. The selection is outstanding, the owners friendly and extremely helpful. They have helped me select my multiple purchases ranging from inexpensive to very expensive. Though they are no longer in Rockridge and close to where I live, the new location is very convenient and easy to find. I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

I just purchased a Briggs& Riley carry– on and a RFID money belt at this store recommended by my friend who has bought many items over the past years.
I spent more than an hour to choose right one for my this trip.
But the owner, David, was very helpful, patient and friendly.
They have wide selection of name brand luggages & travel accessories. It looks like they have everything for traveling.

I was very pleased with my buying experience at Rockridge Luggage. The owner is knowledgable and can guide you in the right direction if needed. We’ve all had experiences where we ordered on-​line stuff and received a cheap looking/​bottom end item of a trusted name-​brand. I decided not to leave my luggage to chance and to lay my eyes on what I was purchasing. At Rockridge Luggage, they will price match with on-​line prices anyway, so you really cant lose.

Love this shop and the owners! And it’s even better now that they are closer to our house!!! Great selection of high-​quality bags and luggage, and the prices are some of the best around. But what really sets this store apart from all of the others is the great customer service offered by the owner. He and his wife are so patient and calm, without any degree of high-​pressure sales. They carry Tumi, Swiss Army, Eagle Creek, Brenthaven, Briggs and Riley, Timbuk2, and on and on. It’s all packed into this great little shop on Fruitvale. If you’re looking for any type of luggage or luggage accessories, i recommend you check these people out first. You won’t be disappointed!

Was saddened to hear that they got pushed out of their storefront on Rockridge, where they had been for decades. It was good to be able to walk up there and get a product to suit my travelling needs. They have a large selection and are very competitively priced. I will make the trip to Fruitvale to do business with them.

The service, selection and prices are all top notch, parking is easy and Rockridge Luggage is locally owned. There’s also a sign on the door saying they will match online prices, so really, why shop online when you can support a small business owner, check out the item in person and take it home today?
I live in Berkeley and was planning to go to the luggage store near the UC Berkeley campus, but after reading their less-​than-​great Unilocal reviews, I decided to look for another locally owned shop. That brought me to Rockridge Luggage in the Dimond District, and I’m so glad it did!
It took me only 12 minutes to drive to this shop from my home. They’re right off the Fruitvale Ave exit, with plenty of parking in the lot behind the store. There are a lot of bags packed into this store, but it feels like there’s plenty of room to see everything and try it out. I walked in and the owner greeted me, asking what I was looking for. I explained that I’m going on a month-​long trip, so I need a large suitcase. After determining that I was looking for a soft-​sided bag, he showed me the options up high on a shelf.
I stared at them for a minute, and he asked my price range and if I do a lot of traveling — I do, but I’m a touring musician on a budget. When I asked what the options were, he told me the large size suitcases ran $ 150 — $ 600. I said I was hoping for under $ 300, so he showed me an Eagle Creek bag that was normally $ 440, but was on sale for 30% off, bringing it to just above $ 300. It was a little smaller than the bags on the top shelf, but only by a bit, and he made sure I thought it would be large enough for me. He also showed me a Samsonite bag for $ 150, and took the time to show me the features on both, pointing out the reasons the more expensive bag was better quality (like bigger, sturdier zippers and wheels that go in all directions), but still giving the cheaper bag its due and not trying to sell me on the pricier bags at all. In the end, I went with the Eagle Creek suitcase, and left very happy. Thanks, Rockridge Luggage!

This is a great store. Huge selection crammed into a small space, and David, the owner, knows everything about all of it. He is very nice and suggested we purchase a duffel that was less expensive than the one we thought we wanted. What refreshing honesty and service. He gives discounts so don’t pay full price someplace else. We have bought several pieces from him and are totally satisfied. He can also send items under warranty to the manufacturer for repair. Check it out!

Love this place, large variety of luggage, backpacks, purses and accessories. Couldn’t believe they moved into my neighborhood. The owners are super sweet, the parking is convenient, and the selection is amazing. I always prefer spending money at local independent businesses, and I’m overdo for a vacation and new luggage.
They also have some really cute backpacks, spread the word about this cute new shop in the Dimond.

The new store has the same high quality and extensive selection of luggage, with excellent and knowledgeable service. The owners are very helpful and honest with their suggestions and everything is fairly priced. Each time I’ve been there I’ve found exactly what I was looking for. We are very fortunate to have Rockridge Luggage in the East Bay and actually the new location has the added convenience of easy parking! I have been going there for years and it is my «go to» store when I’m heading off on a trip.

Whenever I have a specific luggage or travel need, I am able to find exactly what I need at Rockridge luggage. Their selection is great, and they only carry high quality, long lasting products. I used to go to their old location in Rockridge and was shocked to find out about their move to Dimond district, but actually have found their new location to be even more convenient than it was before. The people that run this shop are super knowledgeable and friendly, and offer discounts often. Great local shop and I definitely recommend it for all of your luggage needs!

I needed a new piece of luggage at the last minute, called and the very helpful owner select a few pieces for me, so that when I walked in, I spent 10 short minutes, and walked out with a very good 26″ piece. Great selection, great prices, great service. Happy Client.

I used to go to the old store out on College Ave. and they sure did have a lot of products with a wide array of brands.
I was a little skeptical about the move and if they would maintain their inventory, but I have been proven wrong. The new location, albeit they did downsize, still carries the same quality products you just can’t find at other bigger chains. The new store is right next to the custard shaved ice shop, flavor brigade.
This local business has gained my loyalty and will be coming back here for many years to come. So with that said, 5 stars for service and product selection. And also the big parking lot in the back!

We have shopped for luggage and travel accessories at Rockridge Luggage for many years while it was in our neighborhood. The owner is very knowledgeable about what he sells and can arrange for repairs when necessary. I love the senior discount!

I have been going to Rockridge Luggage for all my travel needs for about 10 years and was really unhappy to learn they were moving. The owner is extremely knowledgeable about travel products, friendly and happy to order something if it isn’t in stock. AND he gives senior discounts!
Fortunately the new location is right off the freeway and easy to find, has easy parking and has the same full inventory of travel goods.

The only luggage store that I have occasionally patronized for years (cuz it’s the only one that I knew about) is in Berkeley.
So happy to have found a luggage store that is reasonably priced, has a great selection, easy parking, and knows their products. What a relief, after my last experience at the store in downtown Berkeley. And is is certainly my last time at that store, now that I have found this gem.
I bought a checkpoint-​friendly briefcase for a birthday present. Got a discount (ya hear that Berkeley store, a discount, not a falsely advertised sale). The owner knows his products. I am looking for to going back and buy myself a travel purse.
