I have been driving past them for years and finally decided to give them a call when it came time to groom my two dogs. I would definitely rather support a small business in the neighborhood rather than a big chain. Freddy was very friendly and accommodating. The groomer did a great job. I will definitely be back and recommend them for your grooming needs.

I love Pet Choice. It’s one of those business you can trust and believe in. Great products, great grooming and wonderful owner who values his customers. Recently I was unable to pick up my dog in a timely way, and he came back to work to accommodate my situation. The owner is gracious, knowledgable and someone you can count on. My dog has always had top quality grooming. This is a wonderful business.

Each time we come here we are greeted with a warm welcome. I haven’t been here in a couple of years but the other day we returned and the store owner remembered us! Very friendly store owner who was very thorough in making sure we knew how to use the products we bought. Also good selection of dog foods (the kind with no/​less filler).

Found them on Unilocal.Love their service~ i was there around 4:00 but they still take my 2 dogs for bathing and work after business hours. (They close at 5:00)The owner is very friendly and teach us a lot of knowledge about how to take care our dog and answer our question. They are peoples that truly love pets not like some store just try to sell u products. All of the dog food they sell are good for health. Will recommend to friends~

Maybe I went in on a bad day. The selection of dog collars was severely lacking and looks nothing like the well stocked shelves posted here. And, homeboy was brushing his teeth while walking around the store. I wasn’t sure that he even worked there until he asked if I needed help. That’s nasty.

My dog has been going to Pet Choice for the last two years and we haven’t had any problems.

Freddy and team were friendly, knowledgeable, and did an excellent grooming job on my pets. Freddy welcomed my husband and I to the neighborhood and was very engaging and just plain nice. We have definitely found our new neighborhood pet store!

This is the best store ever! Product Selection, prices, and customer service far exceeds my expectations and is far better than what I get from my local pet store in Montclair. When we brought our Akita puppy home in May, we had trouble finding her Victor ‘s brand dog food and appropriately sized leashes and things especially as she grew. Then we found Pet Choice and Fred the owner (who gets customer service). He has everything we need and orders it with a 2 – 3 delivery at most if it’s not in stock
I highly recommend this store and strongly urge you to drive out of Montclair for better selection, better prices, and THE best customer service

I love my neighborhood pet store. I have been taking my baby boo panther there for 3 years and love it. They work on him a reason amount of time unlike some places that keeps alllll day. I kinda hate when groomers change but right now Vanessa works on him and I love her way of cutting him. I would recommend this place.

Freddy was so great when my girlfriend came in looking for flea medication it was my first choice to go to when we needed dewormer (rescued a stray off the streets)
Super helpful land friendly, but lack the inventory of larger shops so call ahead.

I have nothing but good things to say about my experiences at Pet Choice. I met Fred two years ago and no matter where he saw me and my puppy in the neighborhood he always spoke, remembered our names and he always had excellent suggestions on food, leashes, etc when we visited the store. I had to put my pooch down earlier this year and Fred was there to cheer me up and encouraged me to get another one when I was ready.
I recently got a cocker spaniel and she needed grooming, so I made her 1^st appointment not sure what to expect since I hadn’t seen Andy’s work. I wasn’t able to drop her off so I sent my son with pictures and instructions to give him an idea of what I was looking for. She looked better than I expected! She smelled good, was properly faded, and had a little pep in her step because she knew she was GORGEOUS!!! She receives numerous compliments on her new cut.
I have found my groomer and will continue to support Pet Choice because the customer service is EXCELLENT! Thank you Andy for making my puppy look BEAUTIFUL. Thank you Fred for consistently making a difference in the community. :)

I have been buying my dog food and supplies at Pet Choice for two years now and it is ALWAYS a wonderful experience. Choi is so friendly, always remembers mine and my Partner’s names and what I get for my dogs. When I was first deciding what food I needed to switch to because my Chihuahua has IBS he took the time to go over food options with me and tell me pros and cons and the top sellers.
He carries top quality dog food at the lowest cost I have been able to find in Oakland as well as all natural bones for my large Doberman/​Shar Pei mix.
To respond to some of the reviews below:
1) I use a credit card every time I go in and the owner has never given me a problem with it. Was writing a racist remark about the owner really necessary?
2) Occasionally, there is a doberman behind the counter who barks. He has a leash on and usually you are not able to see him, only hear him. When I had my own dog with me the owner put his dog in the back so mine could have free reign of the store.
3) The three girls who work the store front have always been nice and friendly with me, sharing tips and stories about their own dogs.
Choi is wonderful and the store is the best quality for the lowest cost. Do yourself a favor: go in and have the experience for yourself, you won’t regret it.

Pros: cheap prices
Cons: careless work, my dog got his ear cut and very tired when it got home. Compared to petco grooming, pet choice was below its standard.

This is a NO.
Went in, based on other Unilocal reviews, to get my newly adopted dog’s City of Oakland license instead of going to the dreaded City of Oakland rigmarole on 29^th St.
Again this is a NO.
From the growling Doberman that almost leapt over the counter on my entrance to the ungracious counter help (was THAT the owner???) asking me what I wanted (uh, some service maybe? was I bothering him???) to the unnecessarily pedantic 5 minutes power-​display it took him to look over my signed rabies certificate to the unnecessarily rude «NO I DON’T TAKE CWEDIT CARD I MAKE NO MONEY ON DAT-​YOU CAN GO ATM BANK AMERICA ACROSS STREET» instead of «sorry, I prefer not to take credit cards and I’m sorry I fail to mention this on my website since you drove across town to patronize my small business. .. «
I walked out and took my business and story to pet owner friends: do not waste time or money at this little hole in the wall pet store with discourteous service.

Great little pet shop. Limited selection but they will order an item for you. They also have great dog boarding as well as grooming. Glad they are in the neighborhood!
Someone mentioned that they do not accept credit cards, which is false. I have always received courteous service here as well.

Choi is a gentleman and a treat.
The prices are competitive and they have pretty much everything you might want for your dog.

Such a nice man that works here. He always remembers my name and what kind of dog I have. I know he really keeps track of what his customers need. I like the dog food types here and really only feed my dog the best.
They have all the quality products and are really a great part of our community.
Give him more business! And don’t be intimidated by the area. The diamond inside is always worth it. =)
