Patchwork Show: Modern Creative Festival

looking forward to bringing my new designs to Patchwork Oakland this Sunday :) ~ I will be donating 15% of my entire booth sales to Valley Fire Relief

I always enjoy making purchases from local vendors. This looks like a great fair.
Plus, Recover Your Thought will be selling at Patchwork for the first time! I’m looking forward to buying more of Doug’s journals.

This will be my first time participating in the Patchwork Show (ijewelry)…This year’s event is on October 25^th from 11 – 5 at 55 Harrison St… Besides being a vendor, I’m really looking forward to seeing all the other talented vendors… I may even try to get a start on my holiday shopping! Can’t wait!

Patchwork is not only curated well, representing some of the best in handmade in the Bay (that’s a lot of competition you know!), but it’s run well by friendly people. I happily return as a vendor and customer!

I went to the Patchwork Show last year. Any time there is a chance for me to see and support local small business and their work, I am all for it. The woman checking people in at the front door was nice to me. She gave me a free Unilocal tote bag even though I forgot my password (I had it reset to a new one recently) and couldn’t check in.
The place was spacious and fitted many vendors. Merchandise included handmade soap, skincare, and bath tolietries, clothes, jewelry, acessories, handbags, chocolates, preserves, and the list goes on. Even though there were some pricey items, there was plenty of merchandise for those who are on a budget. If nothing else, you could just browse around.
There were plenty of edibles to sample. I ended up getting a jar of violet preserves from a French couple. I also enjoyed some carrot preserves from another vendor. The flavor was nothing you would expect from a carrot. If I had more money on me, I would have definitely bought a jar. I received a small peppermint soap sample. My friend and I enjoyed sampling the chocolates with unique flavor combinations.
I wasn’t able to go to the 2015 show but hopefully I can attend the 2016 one.

I will return for my second year as a vendor (Happy Handmade) at this show because it really is well curated and well run, with great turnout in a beautiful location. It is well worth the trip with two floors of really beautiful, quality handmade goods.
I can’t wait!

I loved coming here to look at all the goodies. Many of the things were out of my price range, but that’s to be expected since everything is handmade. I really loved the atmosphere and the prime opportunities for people watching — the event seemed like such a perfect cross-​section of Oakland, even though I think the organization that planned it isn’t local to Oakland. Good selection of food trucks outside, even though I didn’t go to any of them. I loved the location because it allowed for us to go to one of our favorite restaurants. If anything I would have loved for it to be bigger, we walked around twice in not too much time, although that’s not realistic to ask since the booths filled up the space quite nicely. Also, good music. My final thing though, is that I’d like to see even more artists of color represented. There was definitely some representation, but we are in Oakland, you know.

Definitely a great place to jump start your holiday shopping with a huge variety of truly cute and crafty stuff (minimal weird/​random junk). It’s like Etsy + Pinterest had a baby and hatched it in Jack London Square.
They draw a good crowd, so come close to opening or closing time to avoid the local shopping mob (proud to say Oaklanders are serious about shopping local!) Items and prices range from $ 10ish to $ 200+ for posh items like handmade leather bags.
The patchwork festival coordinators are real makers themselves, and do a fab job giving the festival a happy, creative, fun feel. If they come to your town, go!

A brillliantly curated show with heart, whimsy and an incredible variety of talent, and I’ll be there all popped up with my little place of artful goodness! Come on by and say hullooo!

This will be my second year as a vendor and this show rocks! The exhibitors are carefully curated so there are very little redundancies and /​or saturation of one kind of item. The promoters are outstanding in their communication and attention tode tail.
They work their tushies off and it shows.

The Patchwork Show is loads of fun with lots of local crafters and food makers selling their wares. Come down to the May 11 event at Jack London Square. A great way to spend Mother’s Day.

If you love to browse, celebrate, and support indie local craftspeople, Patchwork Oakland is your event! Over 100 crafty vendors, food trucks and indie food purveyors, DJ, make-​and-​take crafts, and plenty of hustle and bustle. Easy parking, too.
Dianna LaFerry Sewing is pleased to be vending at Patchwork Oakland again this year. I had a great experience vending at last November’s show, and I’m looking forward to this year’s event.

This event is so cool! Local vendors, unique gifts and a great time. I’m excited to go this year. Check out Penelope Co. soy candles made in Oakland!

Very interesting to browse through this fairly large indie craft fair and look at local crafts and arts. There was everything from chocolate to jewelry and clothes to metal and woodworks. Prices were all over the map depending on the vendor.
I found some really cute and enchanting custom LOTR necklaces and exquisite tea-​infused chocolates.
Didn’t approve of the entry into the fair though. Why must I give out my email address to sign up for the mailing list before going in? It was really confusing. I would have also appreciated a place to sit or to buy drinks/​snacks inside.

This 1-​star rating is for the entry system just to get into the festival. Why are you forcing people to give up their email addresses by making them sign up on your mailing list before they can get in? Ridiculous. People are here to shop, not get spammed. With the plethora of social media platforms out there, people will follow/​like/​etc your organization if they feel like it, don’t force us to do it and make us wait in a line.
OTHERWISE, cool festival w/​a nice variety of vendors. It’s great to see more activity at JLS.

Can’t wait for Patchwork 2013! I’ll be there for sure! I hope everyone can cruise by, because there is nothing more fun than talking and mingling with the crafters themselves in a beautiful, modern location on the water like JLS. See you there east bay Unilocalers!

If you’re looking for local items, this craft fair was full of a wide variety of things to choose from. It seemed like there was a lot of items for kids this year. I saw some really awesome things and even bought a few. I bought some ornaments for gifts and I also picked a home made make up bag. They had a deal buy two for $ 14! I needed one and it’s larger than the others I’ve seen. I also picked up another one for a friend. It was probably the best thing I could’ve purchased.
I’ve seen some of the other vendors at various craft fairs — prices were all over the map. The spacious area of Jack London Square made it easy to navigate despite the crowds.
The photobooth was super fun. I still need to download our pics. Overall, I would definitely stop by one of these again, especially when I like giving home made gifts and supporting the local economy.

The holidays are around the corner and with all the news about selfish corporations and such, I decided to take a stand an do my shopping locally and use my dollars to support small businesses. The Patchwork Indie Art and Craft Festival couldn’t have happened at a more perfect time!
Usually, I live in Phoenix for work. When I’m not working, I’m in the bay area, so «local» has several meanings for me. This is the first year Patchwork happened in Oakland and I hope that the tradition continues. There is a collection of some really great artists who sell everything from t-​shirts, uniquely designed clothing (dresses, etc.), kitchen items, artwork, etc. A lot of the items have some great local flair. I love the Oakland and San Francisco themed items! There is no charge to come to the event. It’s located at the heart of Jack London Square, so parking is pretty abundant. There are garages around, or for a short walk, you can do street parking, which is free on Sundays.
I dragged the Manpanion to Patchwork because I wanted to get the bulk of my holiday shopping done here. Specifically, I wanted to buy some prints by Nidhi Chanani (that’s where I found out about Patchwork). We went early and managed to avoid the crowds. I walked away with three of Chanani’s prints and the Manpanion purchased both of her books. Seeing this artist was worth the trip from South San Francisco.
I did manage to find some other things, but I still have to conquer my holiday shopping list. Overall, the adventure to Jack London Square was great! There was a farmers’ market going on and the area has some great places such as Blue Bottle Co., which is very close. For those of you with families and are looking for a kind-​friendly place, the park and the kids’ craft corner inside the pavilion are great for that.
Finally, Unilocal offered free gift wrapping and there was a photo booth, which was cute and fun. Keeping fingers crossed that this is a regular event!

Came to this event to support the art of Nidhi Chanani, whose cool prints we had first seen at the HMB pumpkin festival (see for yourself:
). It’s one of those things you do solely out of love (especially on football Sunday). But I was pleasantly surprised, and it made for a nice day!
Parking can be found in surrounding streets (free on Sundays), there is also a parking structure (paid parking) around the corner. Nice area to walk around at. Coupled with the Farmer’s market there is lots of opportunity to support local businesses.
There were quite a bit of vendors at the festival selling things like t-​shirts, prints, clocks, necklaces, suits, and music. Many of the vendors were set up to accept credit cards, which was convenient. Unilocal offered a free gift wrapping station. Thanks Unilocal
