History

Established in 2012.

Founded by John Muster, the educational design of the Mentoring Academy is based upon research, experiences in providing Educational Therapy, teaching, school leadership, designing curricula, and the work of many founders and innovators in education.

Meet the Business Owner

John M.

Business Owner

John has been actively engaging young students all his life, at every level. He has been a High School, College and University Faculty Member and Administrator, Head of a Residential Treatment Facility, Founder of two innovative high schools, Mentor, Father, God-​father, Computer Science Education Consultant and Educational Therapist. For twenty years he taught computer science for the University of California Extension program and authored four books on the UNIX and Linux Operating Systems. Before founding Mentoring Academy in 2012, he was the Head of Maybeck High School for five years.

His academic background started with degrees in Communication, Physics and Astronomy, Science Education then branched into Educational Psychology and ultimately focused his research on the interface between cognition and instruction. He continues to explore how instructional practices and teacher-​student relationships impact student learning.
