So glad I found this place. Chris runs a really tight ship over there the place is super clean and organized and you can tell everyone knows exactly what they are doing. I dropped a set of wheels off to be blasted and coated and they were done way before they said even though it was a no rush job. Chris was really nice and the price and quality can’t be beat. I had my last set of wheels done at westco in Concord and while the wheels look fine, the price was much higher for less wheels and it took 8 times as long. Furthermore, the place was a disaster just very unorganized and not anything like Melrose. You will not be disappointed if you go here. It’s the only place I’m going to use from here on out.

Chris and the gang have done multiple vintage camping trailer parts for my Old School Shasta trailer. Each part has come out looking great and so new! I always tell everyone where the work was done and whenever I am in the area I stop in and say hello. Oh originally i had them do some kitchen stove knobs in a bright red and wow does it make the Stainless stove look high end. Highly Recommend! Great price and fast turnaround!

My cast aluminum patio furniture was showing its age after 8 years in the California sun. the old costing was peeling off and the finish was very weathered, I was loathe to throw it away as it was still sound. I found Melrose on Unilocal and decided it might be worth trying to get the furniture recoated. We conducted all our business by email and phone, I never went to the shop or met Chris in person. Chris was great to deal with, very helpful and accommodating. He sent my paint samples in the mail so I could choose the color, and also arranged pick up and delivery for me too. The furniture is stunning, they did a fantastic job, I Iove it so much, I’m very happy! I would highly recommend Chris and Melrose Metal Finishing &Painting. Fantastic job!

Just had some motorcycle wheels powder coated and I’m very impressed by the quality of workmanship at Melrose.
Having never coated anything and seeing the wheels done I immediately went back for more work having the brake rotors colored to match.
Best part was the extra powder leftover and they save it with your name on it in back, it was used on my rotor job, kinda cool.
Check the detail, they coated the edge of the brake rotor. NICE!

I had a phenomenal experience with Melrose. I brought them a part to have custom powder coated for my car that I bring to the racetrack. The finished product was done quickly and perfectly. They even came in less expensive than they had quoted. Great first experience and I will definitely be using them again.

I wanted to have a set of wheels and a valve cover powder coated. I looked on Unilocal to see if any businesses had good Unilocal ratings. Low and behold I found Melrose in Oakland. Spoke to Chris about the job and he was nothing but great! Wheels came out so beautiful and valve cover too. Now I know where to have all my powder coating done. Shop is so organized and clean which makes a great impression on me. Chris was totally professional and a great help.

Chau’s Auto Sport wanted $ 500 to paint the outside only of my Jeep CJ hood. Melrose sent it out for bead blasting, powder coated both sides of it, and only charged me $ 180!
I’ve also had Melrose powder coat a bicycle frame/​fork and other components. Chris Fine is great to deal with and always ensures stellar results. Try ‘em…you won’t be disappointed!

I found Melrose Metal Finishing & Painting on Unilocal a few months ago, and I’m so happy I did. The work they did was outstanding, saved me money, and was completed ahead of time. I couldn’t be happier with the work Melrose Metal Finishing and Painting did for me on parrot cages. I was able to powder coat my sturdy but aging and unattractive parrot cages for less than it would cost to buy a new, but inferior, cage.
I had parrot cages that were starting to lose their paint and were beginning to rust. It is almost impossible to find the one brand of bird cage made in the United States, and their reputation is not very good. The cages imported by China are pathetic — even the stainless steel cages that cost more than $ 1,000 have so many bad reviews. These old cages were made in California by Frey and were sturdy wrought iron. After years of use, they were ugly. A friend encouraged me to look for someplace that would do powder coating — and I had always wanted a powder coated cage. I was beyond excited when I found Melrose Metal was less than five miles from my house and had the best reviews! Birds are hypersensitive to any toxins, so I had to do my homework to be sure this would be a safe procedure. The work is guaranteed safe for restaurant/​food. After I made up my mind to follow through, I picked out a lovely French pea green color (my birds always make happy noises when they are around green). Everyone tried to tell me I was making a mistake — I should stick with black cages. I was so nervous. And what if the birds didn’t like green cages?
When I saw the cages for the first time, a few days earlier than expected, they were so beautiful, I almost couldn’t catch my breath! The color was stunning and they had been painted so well — all rust had been sandblasted away. The cages looked like they cost a lot of money — and I have never seen cages in this delightful color. Chris told me he had overcharged me in his estimate — so I got the cages painted for even LESS MONEY than I had been quoted. It was like the good news just kept coming.
The cages look so gorgeous, every friend that comes over tells me of something they are thinking of getting powder coated based on the fabulous results I got. My response is always «What are you waiting for?» Before I had them painted green, whenever people walked into my living room, it felt like you were walking into the Oakland Jail. Those big black cages were not attractive — in fact, they were depressing. The new cages make me feel so happy when I walk in the door. The parrots even spend more time in their cages because they like the color so much (they have free flight in the house). It is so much easier to clean a powder coated cage.
I highly recommend Melrose Metal Finishing and Painting to anybody who has an item that could benefit from powder coating. I wish I could give Chris ten stars! The photographs speak volumes — but I cannot see how to attach them. The people who work at Melrose are very knowledgable and customer-​oriented. The parrots give the cages eight toes up each.

A buddy of mine recommended these guys a few weeks ago so I decided to take my rusty old stock vw rims to them and get them refinished. Chris was very helpful with what kind of work to do on them and what paint holds up best etc. Very nice guys and highly recommended quality work. Not bad pricing either.

I have used Melrose two times to powder coat parts on my Harley Street Glide and both times I was extremely impressed. The quality and service of their work is excellent and they are very reasonable with their prices. I drove from Fairfield because I knew my parts would be done right. If you want quality work at a reasonable price look no further and go to Melrose.

I found these guys on Unilocal about 3 years ago. I had Melrose sandblast and powdercoat 6 pieces of 1950s wire furniture. The table I had also needed to be repaired. The work was beautiful!
Everyone was very nice… the shop is very clean. Price was great! A few months later I took some 1950s wire patio chairs I found thrifting to Melrose for work. They were not in perfect condition and someone had painted them with layers of goopy paint which hid how bad the metal was. The metal in places was literally crumbling. Melrose put alot of effort into salvaging them and making them look pretty good!
I think their turn around time is very good… I think for me it was a week. Very reasonable.
Just picked up more 1950s wire stuff last month… will probably be heading there soon…

AMAZING work done by the guys at melrose. i brought in an old, rusty bertoia chair that needed spot welding and refinishing. i chose melrose based on their excellent reviews and their turnaround time. they weren’t necessarily the lowest price in town but in my opinion they were the best bang for your buck.
chris, the manager, was extremely helpful. he answered all my questions by email and didn’t judge me when i decided to go with a chrome color finish (not an ideal first choice). turns out chrome was the perfect selection!!! the chair came out looking retro yet brand new. it seriously looks like a million bucks and i have melrose to thank for that.
i now have a sudden urge to powder coat everything! thanks chris! thanks melrose! i am one happy customer.

Went here to get a few items powdercoated, and tell you what, they have great customer service and fast turnaround. Also price is very reasonable and quality is superb.

Clean and professional shop. I was originally quoted $ 220 – 260 for the powder coating of a standing outdoor patio heater, because they were not sure how much blasting time it would take to remove the original coating. The final price ended up being $ 220, so that was good. The quality of work is excellent.
The only issue I had was I was told that it would take 1 week, but it ended up taking 2 weeks.
Also, there was an earlier comment about cash prices being 20% cheaper. I never got the opportunity to check that out because when I came in to pick up the piece I was immediately informed that they only take cash or check. Ask up front whether the price quoted is the cash price.

I was looking for a place to get my powder coating done by 3days and I found this place via Unilocal.it had a good review so I went with it. with my luck it look more than a week. due to short staff. it would been nice to get updated about issue rather than be always inquiring if it’s done. or not. but just because Chris was nice (manager) I’ll give them a 3star. if you other choose use it.

Had a big project (for me) to put a Honda ATC125 3-​wheeler engine into a Honda CT110 frame. The CT110 that I got was a real mess. Body was in very bad shape, and even had some Bondo patching things up on it. To make a long story short, Melrose did a fantastic job with a combination of powder coating and polyurethane paint to match. Getting ready to send my third project bike to them.

I purchased a large wood dresser/​buffet type piece of furniture on Craigslist and was searching for someone to professionally spray paint the piece. I found Melrose on Unilocal and while I could see they specialized in painting and powder coating metal, I emailed Chris on the off chance that his shop would take on this project. I quickly heard back that they would do it and, after sending the dimensions and a photo of the piece, I got an INCREDIBLY fair estimate for priming, painting and a clear coat. Chris even helped me coordinate pick-​up and delivery of the piece to his shop with one of his very friendly employees.
I had initially purchased paint for Melrose to use but upon spraying it they quickly realized it wouldn’t work. While it was a bummer that I spent $ 70 on a gallon of what I thought was good quality paint, I appreciated the fact that they knew it wasn’t going to give me a good result. Chris suggested I come and look at a sample of a similar color they stocked and consider using their paint instead. After a quick trip into the shop, I decided to go with their paint and I’m so glad I did.
The piece turned out amazing. Much better than I could have imagined. While I had the piece sanded and had some of the imperfections filled with putty before it was delivered to their shop, I wasn’t expecting that they could achieve such a flawless, lacquered finish. I’ll try to upload some photos.
I’d highly recommend Melrose to anyone looking for wood furniture painting. They’re responsive, affordable and do excellent work.
